[Vardon] Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr told The Athletic he would not coach USA Basketball beyond this summer, following in the footsteps of predecessor Gregg Popovich in coaching the Americans at a World Cup and then an Olympics before stepping down.

> Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr told The Athletic he would not coach USA Basketball beyond this summer, following in the footsteps of predecessor Gregg Popovich in coaching the Americans at a World Cup and then an Olympics before stepping down.

> “No,” Kerr said bluntly when asked if he would coach Team USA after the Paris Games. “To me, it’s a two-year; it’s a cycle. Pop coached a World Cup and the Olympics, now it’s my turn to pass the baton

> The U.S. team for next summer has not been formally selected. Kerr and Curry have spoken briefly, and managing director Grant Hill has spoken with Embiid and briefly with Lebrob James

Feels like it really isn’t a two-year cycle at all, and we need some more consistency

ah yikes i tried manually typing in Lebron to contextualize “James” at the end but reddit isnt letting me edit the body post

  3. Erik Spoelstra licking his lips in the batters box

Spoelstra would be great next. Mike Brown would be entertaining to have at the Olympics.

How many chips would he have to win to be seen as “better” all time than Pop? He’s one behind and he’s already done things Greg has never done. Pop never won back to back, he never went to 5 straight finals(not even 3 straight with a top ten all time player in duncan)

I’m a biased warriors fan and I think Steve Kerr is a great NBA coach. Idk if he is the guy for international though, I think his offenses are pretty hard to come in a learn right away according to a lot of players

Noone is beating a spo lead USA team

Quin Snyder should be considered here. He has international coaching experience and an understanding of FIBA rules and game play.

Dude needs to actually play a big man next summer if that’s the case

He has other ambitions. Kerr-Popp 2028

  12. Looking at history of Olympic USA basketball coaches, interesting to see that only Coach K and Henry Iba have opted to coach for more than one Olympics (both had 3). Personally, I would rather see longer coaching tenures to add more consistency but seems like this is more of the norm.

Okay cool, so can Spoelstra take over for the foreseeable future then?

It seems like the only way to get posts from a subreddit to stop showing up in the official app’s r/all is to get banned from the subreddit.

So here we go: fuck shit bitch fuck the nba fuck r/nba fuck u/spez fuck shit nugget bitch damn. NBA astroturf garbage trashcan. Don’t make me say racist things to get banned, I’ll do it. Kerr just got out coached. I’m not looking forward to the rotations in the olympics if he’s the coach.
