  1. I’m sure this sub won’t overreact. They DEFINITELY weren’t in the game thread.

  2. BurntHamSandwich

A lot of people are overreacting to this loss, I think we are steadily improving. And JHawk looked amazing

  3. Fucking tough loss and a 40 point turn around, but I still think we turn it around. No need to sound the alarms just yet.

  4. We have been outscored by 105 pts in the 2H through 7 games. Something is seriously wrong

  5. Existing-Sell-3675

Your two best players can’t be traffic cones on defense, while not being able to space the floor on offense. That’s pretty much the story of the 2nd half, along with Willie’s creatively bankrupt offensive sets. Probably saw one Zion – BI pick and roll the entire game and it was an easy jumper for BI.

  6. Lots of good to take from this game despite the L. Hard to accept moral victories from this core any longer but the season is very young and the NBA champs looked like exactly that props to them.

Hawk is the real deal man. Kid can play. Cant wait for the days with him and TMIII.

  7. WelbeckStoleMyHeart

Hard to beat good teams when our stars are terrible on defence

  8. Allmighty_Milpil

Saw things I liked, saw things I didn’t like, and I saw the NBA officiating I’ve come to expect. Let’s go pels

  9. Mesame121489

Willie has to figure out 2nd half adjustments or he has to be replaced. Also y’all need to chill people are allowed to have bad games. 1 bad game from someone and y’all are ready to kill him and his family, y’all don’t have to be so toxic all the time.

  10. KonigSteve

Why does Willie absolutely suck at 3rd quarters? Doesn’t seem to matter at all what players he has available.

  11. Okay… I’m getting tired of Willie defensive minded bullshit. His defense stinks in the clutch. He waste all this offense by not wanting to create shots for his shooter. Down 6 and the offense devolves into struggle bus iso. Pass the ball and create a 3pt shot. We only shoot 24 3s going half into the 4th at insane percentage. We took our foot off the gas and this shit is getting old.

We had Denver on their heels because of shooting 3s and we completely stopped till the game was out of reach. We are rich with shooters and we do the same struggle offense from last year.

And don’t get me started on how this team gets rattled so badly when ref flip the script instead of just playing.

  12. Dense_King_1897

Still can’t string two good halves together.
Guess we just can’t fix this.

  13. I think it was a solid game outside the 3rd quarter. Obvs this is the best team in the league so the competition level is high, but its a general trend of us getting blown out in the 3rd. We got a lot to work on but the season is long

  14. Ja___av93

Well….I expected to lose this game, so I can’t be to mad. At least Hawkins looked good I guess

  15. Briguy_fieri

Center needs an upgrade. Either at starter or backup level.

Bi and Zion have to get it clicking as of yesterday. We can’t have back to back losses with both of them playing and neither taking over.

We wanted shooting, we got it.

Jose Trey coming back will be an excellent boost and can’t happen soon enough.

Second half adjustments need to be made Willie. The collapses are starting to become your calling card

  16. Infinite_Response113

We’re a mid team. Maybe not when we’re fully healthy but we never are. The truth hurts

  17. BobMarleynthewhalers

We have a lot of issues that carried over from previous years.

BI doesnt look like he cares about defense at all and I dont think he will get better. Turn over machine

    Kira is unplayable.

JV is still a double edge sword. Yes he gets you rebounds but just so slow at times always a step behind.

Not sure if Willie is the right coach for this roster. Not sure if he will ever figure out how to use Zion and Bi and JV properly.

  18. Didn’t catch most of that, we shouldn’t be throwing these types of games. Not happy with the Zion Ingram fit atm, plenty of time to improve and they’ve barely played together but Willie needs to figure this out.

Also, think I need to owe Jordan Hawkins an apology, wasn’t a fan of that pick but the guy plays very hard and looks to at least be a rotation guy for us. Definitely warming to him.

  19. BrunoBuckets64

Need BI three ball to work for the spacing lineup, he looking like Demar rn which is not what we need, hopefully he can start hitting them. Just expected more synergy from BI and Z, i know they only played 7 games together but far too much your turn my turn.

  20. DankSinatraSr

We played incredible in the first half. Jordan Hawkins is going to be an absolute monster.

But goddamn do I hate this team coming out of the half. Every fucking third quarter is a guaranteed L. It’s embarrassing. Willie continues to prove me right that he’s not an X’s and O’s guy. What the fuck was that lineup with Kira and Zeller?

Regardless, plenty of bright spots in the loss. This is the defending champs who were only down Murray and we managed to keep it relatively close despite our typical 3rd quarter meltdown.

Loss sucks but oh well, we flockin. See y’all mf’s Wednesday 🔥

  21. SpaceAfricanJesus

Hawkins ROY campaign has begun. Can’t be all bad, right?

  22. Wrecker1127

I think 3 point shooting could be really good with Ryan Hawkins and the addition of Murphy. Not seeing much improvement in the overall defense. Rebounding was a little bit better. BI and Zion still look bad together. I’m really not even seeing flashing of what the duo could become. They just tend to ignore each other or don’t share minutes together half the game.

  23. AeroKayle

Gotta trade JV & KLJ.. like they are liabilities…
We need a defensive center that can box out, rebound and set screens that actually runs at a decent speed.. JV would better in a different Era of basketball but tnot this one…

    Dereon Seabron > KLJ

  24. The 1st half Pelicans are the greatest team in the NBA. Coincidentally, the 2nd half Pelicans are the worst team in the NBA.

  25. Lyte_Work

One of BI or Zion gotta go. They don’t mesh well. I like them both, but for the team to thrive something gotta shake.

  26. Loving the Hawkins pick more and more every game

Please stop playing Kira, idk what he did in the off-season to earn these minutes but I think a he’s thoroughly unearned them at this point

If we don’t start spamming BI/Zion P&R then idk what we’re doing. Ball movement is great but you have to have a go-to spamable play when the offense gets stagnant

  27. GatorEggs-

We show flashes everywhere but at some point we need to put it all together. It’s only 7 games into the season, we can absolutely figure this stuff out so it’s not time to hit the panic button just yet after a tough loss like this. I really hope we can figure this stuff out because when the pels are playing to their standards then they are a really really good team.

Edit: 3rd quarter issues can’t continue any longer though, it’s very obviously an effort issue during those slumps and that is something that any head coach should be capable of fixing ASAP.

  28. _Wado3000

Live thread was full of people who don’t usually comment shitting on BI – not to say he can’t get criticized, terrible plus minus for sure but it’s just funny seeing people come out specifically in the 3rd Q when everything started going wrong.

Pretty clearly both need to actually care about defense. Both act like all they need to do is worry about one side of the ball and that’s not winning basketball. Zion got boards tonight but BI flatly just didn’t focus on getting them after getting 7 last game. Also BI has **way** too many turnovers most games this season, imo I don’t see him giving the ball away on a silver platter, but they accumulate every game and he simply needs to be more careful no matter what

Offensively they both had moments, but it’s pretty clear Z is still working himself into shape, his prime self would’ve got 30+ easily tonight. Z needs to look closer to his MVP-candidate self if this team will ever turn into a top seed

I think a lot of people will walk away from this game thinking BI is an awful 3 point shooter, and while he‘s never been *tremendous* volume he’s gotten away from it more in recent years. Obviously he needs to get it back playing with Zion; it’s completely a prerequisite, there’s just no other way this pair can work. Personally I’ll accept 0/X this early on and hope that attempts continue to climb up to 6 or more

Hawk and Ryan were absolutely brilliant, especially Hawkins as a rookie. Holy shit I’m so impressed with him. I think Herb and Dyson need to say fuck it and shoot more 3’s, even if it’s forced it’s very necessary.

Zeller was thrown in there for boards but he’s mighty useless in just about every other area. Larry is very much the opposite imo, sure he’ll never score much game to game but he makes more smart plays than not, he’s just too small to get boards by himself without help. Any combination of Z, BI, Herb, and Dyson simply need to crash the glass more; shouts out to Hawk for hustling at the rim and getting boards all the while, again I love that kid.

Jose, Trigga, and CJ can’t come soon enough. Since we do have more shooting coming back eventually, I still think another big would be the ideal move down the line. Not surprised randoms from the Nuggets started to run us out the building, they have a great system and have full confidence they can run back a championship no matter what

  29. Units4ever

I get we are injured and Denver is the champs but I’m tired of making excuses. Griffin has done a well enough job drafting and putting guys around Zion and Bi.

It is time for those 2 to step up and play with a sense of urgency while they are on the court. Lazy turnovers, falling asleep on defense, not rebounding. They are getting paid a combined 60 something million. It is on them to figure it out, not pointing fingers at anyone else. DG has given them enough to be a top team

  30. ahungrybatman

Brandon Ingram needs to be traded and I say this because he can not play with Zion

  31. Not going to freak out or anything but man that loss hurts. Hope our home game stretch coming up will have some success. Maybe our new in season tournament court will be the Jokic counter since it’s the colors of the joker.

  32. The record could get ugly real fast based on the next 10 games if they don’t get this 3rd quarter and effort bs fixed soon.

  33. dullscissor1

Coaching malpractice in the third quarter is why we lost this game
