Been saying it since the summer, but I understand giving Sochan the reps. This season isn’t going to always be pretty, we might as well learn from it.

  2. LJGarciaTX

It’s early in the season but I feel the same. We need to get Tre to run it from the start. Sochan is still out of place when running point and not sure if he will improve.

uh-oh, get ready for the intellectual giants of this sub to jump on you for this.

bc i’m not sure if you know this, but wanting Tre to start over Sochan is basically the same as wishing death on Sochan. like how could you even say this?? you should do your duty as a Spurs fan and only comment “trust PATFO” or other similarly insightful statements. because that’s the reason for a sports subreddit, eh?

(i’m going to create an entire post explaining why Sochan as PG is an experiment and shouldn’t be an immediate success. as if nobody understands that)

  4. Bonesawisready5

Do we even we really believe Sochan can be a starting PG? He can’t layup, can’t shoot consistently, has no court vision and tunnel vision. This experiment makes no sense. Brief flashes of him being competent shouldn’t keep it going. It should be Tre and we should trade for a decent PG to at least give team experience with competent PGs for when we finally sign/draft one for

Idk how many times people have to hear this but we are trying to develop young players. Not win gamez

  6. oart 78 sochan vs tre jones who starts. dont yall ever getting bored of mentioning this over and over again

Gonna sidestep the question of Tre starting because I don’t want to turn this into a competition between the two of them, but making Sochan into a PG just doesn’t make sense. He’s a good passer (after all, he was drafted to be our Draymond which I am still excited for), but he doesn’t have the scoring ability to actually be a lead playmaker. His best offensive quality is his cutting, which will be underutilized if he has the ball in his hand. He’s also being asked to guard the toughest assignments on the perimeter and at some point it has to feel unfair for him to be saddled with so many responsibilities.

Either way you are never getting far with a non-shooting point guard, it makes things too easy for the defense. All I can guess is they don’t expect to win anytime soon without a great guard that can pass and score so they would rather develop that skill set in Sochan so he is more dynamic long term.

Tre still has a place as a backup point guard so might as well develop him in that capacity rather than try to force him to be the starter when he doesn’t have the offensive ability to perform at a high level there.

they need to bench sochan, he can’t even lead the 3rd stringer like cmon! his basketball iq is so low and his passes are only for his buddy keldon

Some of y’all are actually embarrassing. You’re picking on our players more than the opposition.

We’re not even 10 games in ffs

You could have just posted the meme you made that has the same message you put in the title lol

  12. WitchiePoo

When ur name becomes pop, you’ll be able to decide. Until then u are aren’t a coach at all and ur demands are meaningless.

  13. whodatGbe

I think pop is old. Someone tell pop Sochan isn’t Tony Parker.

Starting Tre is not going to make us significantly better. Maybe Wemby gets a few more lobs but that’s it. Defense will get worse.

  15. MasterMacMan

I’m not afraid of losing games because Sochan is at the point, I’m afraid of it effecting everyone else’s development and leading to bad chemistry on the team. It looks a little AAU out there right now.

  16. siphillis

This last game started with Sochan:

    * declining to hit Wemby in transition
    * decline to pass to Wemby when he had post-position
    * hurling a fastball into the stands

    in his first possession.

Why is it so necessary to give Sochan the ball over, say, Keldon or Vassell?

He’s been given so many minutes. Idk what yall are doing. This game, they gave him, like, 20 minutes. Almost the same as Sochen. vs. Raptors, he was given like 32 minutes, more than Sochen. I’m tired of yall pretending like he’s not playing and playing mediocrely on this new young team trying to find their identity.
