Why doesn’t anyone mention Wiggs rib fracture more?

There’s a lot of talk around why Wiggs is starting the season slow.

I hear it discussed in post game snippets, in podcasts many times, and even here on Reddit.

I have only ever heard someone mention Wiggins rib injury once, and that was a comment here on Reddit.

He may have needed the whole offseason to recover and most definitely would come into camp rusty and out of shape.

It’s 6-12 weeks to heal typically, but possibly could be 6 mo to heal.

Why isn’t that mentioned more? Am I missing something?

Because we need a scapegoat now that Poole is gone lol. In all seriousness, there are fans bringing this up, but there are too many casual, reactionary fans that hate post after each game. I hope the mods keep those posts in check, because Wigg’s injury does take time to heal and you can definitely see how uncomfortable he is. He trying and getting better slowly, that’s all we can ask for.

I mentioned it yesterday and was told that I’m lying. People here are truly special.

They just need someone to blame even if we win so it’s going to be him and Klay taking turns this year.

I hope it’s identified quick and the team will make him rest up. Maybe drop his game time a bit so he can be eased back in. Take him out of the starting lineup for awhile and let him come off the bench.

The last thing we need is for him to be sidelined for months again.

I’m also just really confused about why people bother with the negative overreactions after what’s been a pretty decent start. I love watching the Dubs, but at the end of the day, basketball is just a fun thing to watch/talk/think about. Skewing so negative about decent early results just sounds like a miserable time.

  5. In terms of why it hasn’t been acknowledged by anyone from the team or team media, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s because right after they made the injury public in the playoffs, Lebron literally targeted Wiggs and his ribs the very next game to get the advantage. In other words, opposing players not knowing the injury may or may not have completely healed yet removes their ability to potentially use it as leverage when he’s guarding them in games like Lebron did. Just a guess

Probably because even the team seem to be hush hush about it so people probably don’t even know

  7. the rib injury wiggins suffered in early may was bad enough & or that it didn’t heal as quickly as maybe initially hoped that wiggins didn’t play for team canada in the 2023 FIBA world cup from late august into september a couple of months back

wiggins has played for team canada in most of their recent international tournaments including the 2016 and 2020 olympic qualifiers

no doubt the way that team canada was stacked for this year’s fiba world cup run with almost all of the best canadian players participating including gilgeous-alexander, barrett, brooks, olynyk, dort, and others … with murray dropping out at the last minutes due to his NBA finals run … if wiggins could’ve played for team canada 2+ months ago he probably would’ve especially when most thought team canada and team USA were the two heavy favorites to win the 2023 fiba world cup with many believing team canada actually having the better squad since team USA was lets be honest was made up by mostly tier B or even many tier C type NBA “star” talents

there is no doubt in my mind that wiggins isn’t all there 100% both physically due to not being in game shape to start this season and possibly even mentally if whatever off the court issue that caused him to miss the last 2+ months of 2022/23 regular season still could be affecting him til this day

if anything kerr and the hall of fame players on the roster are still behind and supporting wiggins as was the case with the off the court issue at the end of last seasons when most in the fan base and even many in the local media were questioning what the deal was with wiggins extended absence from the team and whether or not wiggins should be playing or when was the timeline of his return would be … and when those questions were brought up to kerr and veteran leaders like curry, green, klay … again they had wiggins back because they knew what was truly going on behind the scenes which we still dont’ know about and probably never will

wiggins with how he performed during that 2022 NBA title run where you could honestly argue he was the second best overall players both in the western conference finals and NBA finals … that he definitely earned the admiration, respect, and trust from the warriors brass both from the coaches and star players

I’ve been spamming this same message over and over again but people would rather believe their stupid belief that Wiggins is apparently lacking in motivation to play.

Sometimes people in this sub just can’t learn to appreciate our players and would rather bash them instead.

There was even one idiot that ‘gathered’ data on Wiggins’s performance and kept saying he needs to be traded.

It’s really fucking annoying.. even on Alchemys video the most upvoted comments are claiming it’s not affecting him because he “looks fine”.

They’re either incredibly stupid or have never broken a rib before. It’s the most god damn annoying injury to get back to 100%. Especially since hes been playing/training intense basketball during that time.

poor wiggs man, people expect him to do well as if he’s the one that makes or breaks our championship run. it’s only 8 games, chill, he will get back up stronger and better soon. GO WIGGS

You know what people also forget?

Wiggs was actually solid last playoffs after returning from his two-month hiatus. He scored 20+ in several games (including 25 in the game the rib injury happened), averaged about 6 rebounds/game, and guarded D’Aaron Fox and LeBron James. But since the Dubs had a second-round exit, people like to say everyone outside of Steph didn’t play well.

So, as long as playoff Wiggins can show up, you know, in the playoffs, I think the Warriors will be fine.
