The biggest takeaway from the games this season so far is that the team synergy compared to last year is so much better. It’s no longer “LUKA DONCIC … and the Dallas Mavericks” but it feels more like “The Dallas Mavericks; featuring: Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, Grant Williams, Dereck Lively II, etc.” It finally feels like a team where not every play has to go through Luka anymore, which I imagine feels great for Luka as well. Dude is finally smiling again and having fun while playing. It’s also very clear that the chemistry between Luka and Kyrie (and everyone else as well to be honest) is finally here.
I know some may not agree, but I think even defensively they’ve stepped it up. They’re stealing, rebounding and contesting shots quite a lot.
All this to say, that I don’t know how far they will make it this season, but at least they’re playing really fun basketball and tanking last season, while it sucked at the time, really paid off.
The only, thing that I don’t like is that some of these foul calls on Lively are really nonsense.

If you’re an opposing defense, there’s actually nothing you can do to stop the mavs. You pray they miss shots or score with them. That’s the only way you beat Dallas
I don’t think this Pelicans team is a top tier opponent. That being said the Mavs are putting teams away that they should… and that in itself is a great sign
All we need is another big man to help out when Lively is off the court and a defensive wing and we are all good! Trust in Nico.
And finally a great game where we were in cruising mode through the entire game and not having to make a comeback.

Nice bounce back game for Josh Green, looked poised out there and played great defense. Really hoping that games like this can become an average thing for him. Also had a nice box-plus.
Really Good game. Luka and Kai really starting to gel and soo much more room for improvement. Exum is awesome off the bench. Such a steady presence. He should take the ball more out of THJ hands. They can erase 15 points in like 2 min of play or blow things open in 1 minute.
Kyrie and Luka are becoming unstoppable together on the court, these dudes are being doubled leaving more room for the other to cook. Chemistry is gonna be even better as the season goes.
Kyrie is already amazing but Luka being able to get Kyrie easy open looks just isn’t fair.
Grant Williams is exactly what we needed. He can still contribute (team high 19 +/-) while not scoring a single point
I wonder if people are still mad at Nico for trading DFS, Dinwiddie and ONE 1st round pick for Kyrie Irving 🧐 🤡
