Why would it not be a fair excuse? They have key players that aren't consistently playing. It's not like it's a bunch of scrubs injured.
It's only 10 games in. When we can get some consistently going, we'll see a difference, no doubt.

The Detroit Pistons need to up their game and make significant moves to become a competitive team. If they end this season with fewer wins than last year, they should make the playoffs next season. Since this year's draft class is not very strong, it would make no sense to keep the draft pick, regardless of their standing. The team needs to stop wasting their cap space on free agency and make smart signings. Troy Weaver needs to get aggressive and surround Cade Cunningham with high talent and pieces to make this team a playoff contender next year. Zion already seems disgruntled and depending on what happens with the 76ers, Joel Embiid could ask for a trade. Therefore, they should look for ways to add a superstar player to this roster.
To be fair they been losing close games in them close games they could of use them and they’re more then likely would have won at least 3 of those games

Off topic but you guys should really rewatch the media day interview with Monty Williams specifically the part where he talks about his experience with Phoenix. Injuries aren’t an excuse to me since a lot of these games are winnable. I’m confident things will turn around at some point but at this point the falls look bigger than the climbs
Maybe the Pistons missed on several draft picks that do NOT mesh well. You drafted a Pure PG & 3 streaky shooting combo guards in 4 consecutive drafts but ignored addressing a 4 that can shoot. And another thing, you're not getting any scoring from that front court.
And over paid Stewart & Bagley. Why did we trade for Wiseman again? That front office is the problem.
We were told this WHOLE off-season that they wanted to compete and try for the play in. That was a big LIE! Im to the point of APPATHY. Meaning I really don't CARE ANYMORE.
