Jake Madison breaks down exactly what Zion means and let’s you know if you should be concerned or not. Plus, how can the Pels get the offense rolling with Zion and Brandon Ingram again? And Jake also gives you a lot of reasons to be optimistic about this Pels team even though Larry Nance Jr is now ruled out with an injury.

  1. Willie green gotta go. His rotations his play calling just aint it. Plus he doesnt know how to use zion

  2. I really can't fault Zion and BI. They are our two young star players. I like that Zion is taking more mid-range shots. He hasn't made a lot of them yet. But, the more he shoots them the better he'll get with it. He's too athletic with a soft touch to not be good. BI is a sharp shooter. He just needs to shoot more 3's. Just like Zion. The more he shoots them the better he'll get at it. CJ and JV are our two consistent veteran leaders. CJ is the example of a professional and leader on the court! JV is a durable walking and talking double double! Herb is probably one of the best defensive players in the NBA who plays with heart! Jordan Hawkins and Matt Ryan were just what the doctor ordered for this team in needing more 3 point shooters! Naji, Larry Nance, Jr., Dyson Daniels, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl are solid reserves. And, just wait until TM3 and Jose returns from injuries. This team is loaded with good, young talent. I have to place the blame on the coaching for not emphasizing more aggressive offensive effort on the part of the team to move off ball, cutting to the goal, attacking the paint, passing the ball until they find the man who has the best high percentage shot that means finding the open man to make an easy layup or dunk, finding the open man who can shoot and make the easy 3 point shot. No NBA team is just going to let Zion drive to the goal and not double or triple team him especially if the other 3 or 4 Pels are just standing still around the 3 point line just looking! Same thing goes for BI. They are going to double and triple team him b/c they know he is all alone b/c the other Pels are just standing at the 3 point line looking. So, it is way too easy for opposing teams to game plan to gang up and double, triple, or quadruple team Zion and BI beat 'em up block their shot or steal the ball or at least affect their shot to make them miss then its too easy for the opposing team to get the rebound. That's another reason why the Pels can't get offensive rebounds b/c no player is in position to get the rebound. They are too far out from the goal. This is ridiculous. They should have learned these fundamentals in high school and college! At least I saw one or two half court sets where the Pels passed the ball 3 or 4 times with just one or two dribbles and found Zion for an easy uncontested dunk and lay up! That's the kind of basketball they need to play all the time!!! The other players are going to have to keep the ball moving, cut to the basket, score in the paint to help give more space to Zion and BI otherwise they are going to keep getting double and triple teamed and this team is going to get shut down every time!!

  3. Point Zion is the answer. The ball sticks with BI, and he doesn't get the offense going. Z needs the ball

  4. Here he goes…..JUST AN EXCUSE from the beignet bandit …..BUY IN TO GETTING IN SHAPE …buy in to ACTUALLY PLAYING ……he buys into a lot of things EXCEPT BASKETBALL

  5. I'm always the bad guy anymore. I want the team to hold people accountable, and stop with this losing mentality. So freaking be it. I'm sick of this losing crap. I'm so sick of this stuff – we should have unloaded Zion for Scoot. Real talk. Just tired of this culture poison that David Griffin and Zion have brought. It's gross. He's a bum, keeping it a buck – a bust. Just like NAW, Jaxon, Kira, and every single lottery pick/late lottery. We're begging him to be part of our team. BI looks utterly defeated. It's gross. David Griffin needs to go, he's failed over-and-over-and-over, and we're praying undrafted and second rounder's will save our season. Gross. Let's cut the crap: This isn't working. It hasn't worked, and it's not going to. Until I hear some feedback that acknowledges the fact DG has poisoned the well? Gonna dislike all this coverage, sorry.

  6. "See The Ball" – Red Holzman NYK Brilliant NBA Championship Coach "Where's the Ball?" – At least 5-7x per game on offense and defense by Non-Brilliant WG and his crawlingly non-reactive to loose 50-50 balls (not including the injured Jose) .400 Predictably Lost Pel Squad. No wonder why the steal numbers are barely perceptible and the pts. off turnovers are as reverse lopsided as a See Saw on an incline. Is this teachable? Mentionable? Deplorable?

  7. Stop trying 2 be politically corrrect!!! Give the ball to Zion that’s it let him take 30 shots if he has 2 !!! How do rookies and second year players who are not that good got a green light 2 shoot doesn’t make sense !!! Ingram needs 2 accept he’s not the best in that team and please trade cj and Willie green!!! FREE ZION

  8. José Alverado
    CJ Mccollum
    Herb Jones
    Trey Murphy
    Larry Nance Jr
All of those key playwrs injured. This team aint winning anything until they get healthy.

  9. What he’s trying say is he’s getting tired of that shit …. They shouldn’t have changed up what worked last year … Point Zion is Unstoppable this new shit ain’t working

  10. Backseat to who? Please..He's offensive game is so predictable, he's a turnover or offensive foul waiting to happened, theres a good reason why he's never a 1st option since Duke, also i didnt hear this when they lose 12 straight before. 🤦🤦

  11. I skipped the post-game live show… no offense, but after the Pels get stomped by the Mavs, listening to a Mavs reporter is not my idea of fun lol.

  12. Its very simple he wants the ball at the top of the key cos he knows what he can do. Right now they r just throwing him in the corner

  13. Theres no mystery as the the Pels early struggles . 1. the Pels big 3 has barely played together due to injuries over the years . 2 half of their core rotation players are out . 2 they aren't that big so they are likely going to struggle against bigger teams like Denver …. as for BI and Zion their both playing well … the idea that BI needs to all of a sudden be a catch and shoot 3 point shooter and to judge him daily by that is a ridiculous to me .. He's one of the best mid range shooters and isso players in the game so thats what he needs to do … Zion is who he is , an explosive player- with limited offensive skill .. and kind of short for his position . .. but I think the Pels will be fine later in the season when they're healthy and deep and have had more time to play together

  14. Bring back Phill Jackson to coach these Pelicans. They need the triangle offense and suffocating defense only Phill can bring as a coach…

  15. Look, you have to cut Z some slack. He's trying his best to buy in to the Pels, to limit his food intake to 10,000 calories, and to keep only one lady pregnant at a time. He's got a lot on his plate, give him time to ruminate through it all.

  16. Zion fan girls really think Zion would be forever unstoppable and he doesn't need to expand his game. 🤣 the guy had the ball most of the time that's why he is a turnover machine. Point Zion my ass

  17. Every dayer from WA here. The Z and BI duo is not working, and i still think having a true floor general would help immensely, especially since the league has gotten so guard-oriented. Neither one of them should be primarily running the offense.

  18. This is the same person who won't even get back on defense… I don't trust him. 1/2 of our dynamic duet.. And its a duet… The other 1/2 can't or won't play in a system. BI will only play one way.. FIBA… Neither is great enough to win on their own or with each other.. We have to wait until all these other players to get healthy.. For us to win games.. WTF??? Do we have super stars or not??

  19. Our 2 best players.. Dont rebound or play defense… How good can they be..realistically?? Kira out-rebounded Zion in the last game.. Jeez guys..

  20. This is why I follow OKC, they draft people with brains, kindness, team players. NBA is full people only there for the money, fame – themselves. Goodluck with drafting in the future, never take dickheads.

  21. See you later Zion. I’m glad you’ve fixed your family for life. Go tease another franchise before blowing it up.

  22. @nolajake ZION HAS MORE ISOLATION PLAYS THAN BRANDON 😂😂😂 Zion apologist man I’ll tell you. Bi aerates more passes than Zion more assist than Zion and more potential assist than Zion but sure bi ISO’s are the problem

  23. this entire team can be tied to one word GROWTH :
Willie Green has a issue with relaying the game-plan & still has a issue with IN-GAME-Adjustments

    INGRAM:
-Still taking too many mid rangers
    -Doesnt rebound
-doesnt pass to open guy often
-doesnt get to the foul line

    Zion
-been in the league for 5 years and hasn't developed a consistent:
    -3 ball
    -mid ranger
    -free throws
    -defense
    or
    -rebounding

    SOMEONE HAS TO GO!!!!

  24. I didn't even know about Larry's injury…. f***s sake, these injuries, year after year, how? Why? The season is a mess so far….🤦‍♂️🏀🇬🇧

  25. It all boils down to injuries. Once CJ went down the offense went down. Z and BI just have to step up and be leaders. End of story.

  26. Trying to buy in? Dude won't even optimize his own body. Please, bro. Some of us watched you at Duke and know what you're capable of so you can't show up to an NBA season trying to play yourself into shape & expect us to believe you're totally "bought in." Some of us watched Michael Jordan play. We know what winning, sacrifice & commitment looks like. So there's no words you can say to convince us, only actions. When team's lose they need an leader to lead them to victory.

Let me tell you what "buying in" looks like:
    – maximize your health
    – value winning above yourself
    – take pride in your defensive rotations
    – win the turnover battle every night

Start there. Respect is earned but some these young dudes think it's supposed to just be given because they showed up. Nah bro, that's not how respect or life works. You gotta give more to get more.

  27. Zion's body language during the game was telling. He doesn't want to be there. He and BI pretty much gave up in the beginning of the 2nd half. Zion showed zero hustle in the game. He got out-rebounded by KYRIE. I love the Pels and I wont give up on my team, but Zion has to go.

  28. The Pelicans former asst coach now head coach of Timberwolves has them at the top of the nba rankings. Secondly Ime Udoka has the Rockets breaking out so this make willy look incompetent. real talk…

  29. I think Sacramento Kings asst coach Doug Christie would be a great choice to replace willy. Hes more of a defensive coach but he would fit well with our current roster.

  30. Bol Bol i hear is unhappy in Phoenix would be a good trade.. Kira, JV, Nance, and CJ all should be traded while they still have value.

  31. Willie Green may be at fault…but there is no excuse for all the turnovers. Who ever is on the court, 1st unit 2nd unit even 3rd unit!

  32. The offense does work with the second unit. It’s on Zion and BI to run the offense and take the open shot.
