Yeah there’s still holes but you can see the D has been getting a bit tighter as they get used to each other. Should be really good come playoff time.
The concepts are fine and honestly in playoff games I’d be fine with more doubling/traps, to protect Zingus on the perimeter. Tatum, Jrue, White scrambling…yeah it’ll give up some easy ones but that’s gonna generate a lot of turnovers too.
KP in the drop with Holiday/White navigating screens is a beautiful thing.
I think it was Zach Lowe who was talking about how we are giving up the right 3’s as well. Most of the 3’s we give up are above the break and not in the corner
– 3rd fewest opponent field goal attempts in the restricted area
– 6th fewest opponent corner 3 attempts
– 4th lowest opponent free throw attempt rate
Literally shutting down all the traditionally efficient avenues to score.
More than this, Zach Lowe mentioned in his recent pod that Celtics are giving up the 5th most 3’s. but the 9th worst percentage. The reason? Celtics give up the least corner 3’s
So our defense has eliminated the 2 most efficient spots on the floor. The defense by White and Jrue are also forcing teams on the perimeter and taking tough shots
