Boston Celtics beat Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers behind Derrick White, Al Horford, Jayson Tatum



The Celtics were without Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis, but they got huge performances from Al Horford, Derrick White, and Jrue Holiday … and then Jayson Tatum closed out the fourth to help slam the door on the Sixers. John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal gets into all that, the bench stepping up, and the big fourth quarter performances, and the Celtics still struggling with keeping Philly off the boards in a brutal second quarter. And then we wonder why the Sixers continue to antagonize Al Horford when he clearly loves it and feeds off it.

    Al Horford is the kind of guy who is not going to fill the stat sheet every night or even every few nights-but you just know there are games where he's gonna be the X factor. Tonight was one of those games! That stat line he had was ridiculous: 14 pts, 10 rebs, 5 blks & 4 threes. That's only been done 13x EVER. White continues to be amazing… Just a gritty win from this team and last year I feel like they would've mailed it in after that atrocious 2nd Q. I love what JT said postgame too about this year's team not making excuses. Oh and apparently Tatum's new nickname is the "Cute Rabbit" 🤣🐰Thanks John! ☘🔒

    This game was a statement of how the Celtics evolved this season. In previous years, after losing the 17 point advantage, they would panic, but now they trust themselves and have ways to change momentum

    Best win of the season in my opinion. This teams 4th quarter performance and presence is night and day from the last few years.

    It's about time we realize this is the Celtics best team since 2007-08 team. The bench we'll be "Good", the guys are to hungry to not be.

    Philly knows if we played with everyone we would blow them out 9/10 times and this win proves it. Total Team effort, I loved Al, Tatum, White and Holliday, Bench did real well too.

    I ❤ this team. I like how they find different ways to win. In the past, the C's would rely on the 3 but we are relying on our Defense more.

    My fellow Los Angeleno and UCLA Bruin, Jrue, has quickly become one of my fave Celtic. Jrue is everywhere on the court where they need him to be. Super high B-ball IQ. Top 20 in the league for Double-doubles. Highest assists of any C. 2nd highest rebounds after JT. Brad did a good thing!

    So the pacers are buying Theis out. Supposedly the clippers are trying to get him. You mentioned before if he was bought out he could sign here on a minimum, should the Cs go for him? We do need another serviceable big and he played well with Tatum.
