C’mon, it’s common sense to crowd one side of the court with your two best players

Not so much related to Billy’s crunch time play calling, but in hindsight reflecting on his coaching tenure, he has been steadfast in sticking to his rotations, often subbing out a lineup that is hot and returning to a lineup that has been comparatively cold.
Rotation management is definitely a critical part of the NBA game. 82 game schedule, injuries happen, you need to develop your depth, you need to get looks at different lineup combos to understand what works/doesn’t, keep your guys engaged, etc.
That said, I think we all can think of a lot of games where we started out ice cold, fought back but ultimately couldn’t hold on. And a lot of the comebacks fizzled out coinciding with substitutions. Overall, Billy has still been a breath of fresh air after suffering through the Jim Boylen ‘punch the clock’ approach..which is a testament to how freaking bad that was. There’s no denying that the guy has had an extraordinarily successful career, however the “we’re all professionals here” approach just has not come close to lighting a fire under the guys.
Here’s to hoping that we let him go ASAP..just be prepared for Mo Cheeks to take the reins if it happens, which probably isn’t going to make any of us much happier.

I know hating on Donovan is the easy thing to do but Vuc is shooting 46% on corner threes. And he didn’t go into the timeout running a play for Vuc. The Magic helped off the strong side corner leaving Vuc open, you take that shot all day.
