Boston Celtics kinda suck, but still find a way to beat Toronto Raptors

The Celtics didn’t play their best basketball, but they played well enough to beat the Toronto Raptors. Things went well enough early on, but it fell apart in the third quarter and the fourth was a fight. John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal gets into all the big topics, like how they closed without Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown being too involved and the lesson they should learn from that. Also, the NBA needs to answer for the slippery floor that got Jaylen Brown hurt.

  1. Things hateful Celtics fans would have forgotten if we had lost. Brown gave us the lead back X2 in the 3rd quarter when Prichard and Tatum were jacking up 3s. Made a big time defensive play to hold off the Raptors and Tied the game for us at 99 99 when we were trailing. Everytime the Raptors gained momentum JB kicked them in their teeth. He shot 60% from 3 and made some big assists that really hurt the Raptors.

  2. on a night where tatum was VERY off, we still managed to secure a win. That’s a good sign because last year we would’ve lost that game

  3. only one player who got minutes tonight didn’t get double digit points, tells us that when tatum doesn’t step up other players will

  4. This game they probably would have lost last season. These hideous courts have people slipping all over the place

  5. It not that he was off thats life sometimes. Its he doesn't adjust his game and still jacks up bad shots. Gained all this muscle and still dont get inside. Lol, no one crying about joe not calling a time out when the Raps went on their big run. He let them play it out and JB came through everytime. If he missed ya'll be crying fire him 😂

  6. The NBA has released the video of the postgame press conference and they've cut out the part where Jaylen criticizes the court.

  7. Very proud of this team and they have a different feel to them this year Jrue just brings stability and control and sets up Everyone having KP in the post as a weapon is huge if we can just get one more solid Big man around the deadline Other than the nuggets I’m confident against any other team in the league in playoffs

  8. Maybe tatum wasn't aggressive because floor was slippery? Risk injury on raptors…. doubt it but just a thought.

  9. I thought all the grey was overkill. At the very least they sounds only have the court colored in, outside the foul line should be normal floor color. I think that would help the color pop and keep it from being overwhelming. That said, I liked the green in the Celtics court even though it went by outside the foul lines.

  10. I remember Kyrie complaining about the floor in his second game as a Celtic vs Milwaukee when they had them play in some other court (college court or old Bucks court, not sure). It was that game that had the keys highlight where he splits 2 bucks defenders through a gap that was about 6 inches wide, then he hits the smooth J. Kyrie isn't my favorite MD player, but when he was a Celtic (until post 2nd year all star break) he was fantastic.

  11. Damn John, the bull gang put out the Celtics court just for you to film in front of. Big timer

  12. That's how title contenders go: win the good games by 15 or 20, and the bad games by 2 or 3. Great job.

  13. Not surprising to see during the game that the floor was slippery. The floor is covered in paint. The fact that Brown has a groin injury is really crappy as a fan who has been waiting for a year like this one. For a court? This makes no sense for the NBA to. It test this out and clearly got it wrong in Toronto.

  14. Sometimes I'd like to see kristaps be a little more aggressive when he's in the post. Seems like he hesitates sometimes and even when he has a much smaller guard on him. He should be backing his way down with ease and dominating those matchups instead of just turning and shooting

  15. John, you wanted Tatum to chill in these “easier” games right? He did just that 😅

  16. I would like a former player to be hired to advise them about courts. Just slipperiness, dead spots, etc need a professional eye.
