Instead he went all in on Robert Williams who is basically going to be medically retired at this point and future draft picks from the Celtics (with 25 year old Jayson Tatum) and the Bucks (28 year old Giannis).
A simple Heat package far exceeds what they got and the Ayton piece could have been attached to any trade. They could have shipped Scoot out with Dame to the Heat and would still be in a better position than they are in now.

Be careful! when I dare mention that DeAndre ayton is in the same category of centers as Clint capela, Jarrett Allen and Jakob poeltl and not a better asset than Tyler herro despite Joe Cronin and his media buddies claiming he is, Portland fans will attack you and say you don’t know basketball. I am not a heat fan, but I am a basketball fan, that didn’t understand why DeAndre ayton was seen as a much better asset than herro.
