I asked Alperen Sengun about his one legged Dirk mid range shot. If he watched any Dirk film. It has become a lethal part of his game “It’s getting more dangerous”
I remember some other reporter asking Sengun about this shot a few games ago. He answered just about the same but he also mentioned that it is sometimes difficult for bigger guys to shoot as their sheer size transfers too momentum to the ball, and leaving one foot of the floor takes some of that excessive force away, allowing a softer shot.
I always thought it was just a weird rhythm thing, never thought about it having such a sensible explanation in terms of physics.

It is kinda different from Dirks. Dirk jumps away and uses distance from the jump in addition to his 7 foot height to shoot over defenders. Sengun just barely raises his heel so a defender doesn’t know if he is faking it or not as he doesn’t lose his dribble and it comes out quick if he does shoot it keeping his defender on his toes.
