Because of Tom Thibodeau’s decision to have Josh Hart be the first player off the bench each half, the second-most played lineup for the New York Knicks is the 5-man unit of; Brunson-Grimes-Hart-Randle-Robinson. That lineup is being outscored by 12.4 points per 100 possessions.

Thibbs actually thinks Hart is better than Quickley.
Lots of defender already figured out Josh Hart, they don’t need to contest his three and ready to intercept every time he try to make a jump pass.
We paid an 8th man $90mil because he got hot from three for a month…
Matches up with the eye test…we need one of IQ or RJ out there…
When Hart first got here he played the best stretch of basketball probably in his entire career and Quickley during that time still had more production. Remember he score 27 points in one of his first few games as a Knick? You couldn’t imagine him doing that now. I like Josh Hart and I wouldn’t trade him but I felt strongly we over paid for him.
Part of the reason is we try to play RJ with the second unit, so we pull him first. If we put in Quickley first instead of Hart then we’d be rolling with Brunson/IQ/Grimes which is way too small
Need to move on from Randle I’m afraid
I need to understand the mind of Thibs because there is no way he doesn’t know of this metric, right? Yet he continues to trudge this lineup out there like fucking clockwork, so maybe he isn’t aware how abysmally putrid it is? It has to be that because he cannot be so fucking inept in his schemes that he just continues to march this lineup into oblivion hoping that it will magically yield results when everything he sees unfold while it’s on the court screams in opposition of it.
