[Scotto] Sources: The OKC Thunder and Davis Bertans agreed to a contract revision. A clause was removed that if Bertans played 75% of games this season, it would trigger a $16 million guarantee next season. His salary guarantee has increased from $5 million to $5.25 million next season.

$250,000 for ~15 extra games of availability while making him immediately more valuable as a trade asset is a great deal!

Nice deal for both parties. Now Bertans doesn’t have to sit on the bench and now the Thunder don’t have to worry about benching Bertans. Bertans gets a little extra for next season and now the Thunder can play him a few minutes every game if they wanted, I’m sure Bertans wasn’t a fan of the idea of sitting 25% of games and coach doesn’t have to worry so much about tracking Bertan’s game count.

This is insane. I’m really surprised Bertans agreed to this only by raising his salary a quarter mil. I assume Presti used his desire to actually get game time as leverage.

Fucking hell he is an actual genius. You can criticize certain draft choices he’s made, but that’s a crapshoot anyway. He almost never ever makes a bad transactional move. We are beyond blessed
