Cam Thomas and JJ Redick On How To “Stay Ready” Without Losing Your Mind

Our guest this week is one of our favorite young players in the NBA, Cam Thomas (The Brooklyn Nets). In this teaser clip, Cam and JJ Redick talk about the difficulties of “staying ready” without losing your mind (ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU’RE A BUCKET). Cam playing behind Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden required also talks about the patience he needed and the growth he’s had with head coach Jacque Vaughn. Full episode drops tomorrow morning!

  1. When are you going to interview a Lakers JJ!? You give platform to almost all these nobodies, but never to a Lakers homie!

  2. it's crazy how starting vs coming off of the bench affects players' mentality, even more so at the professional level

  3. Ever since i saw the first few summer league games from Cam new he was eventually going to be a leading scorer for the team (didn’t expect it to happen as quickly as it did though)

  4. Cam is so young. Just like a kid that lives down the block. Then, whoops, he's an elite NBA scorer. I just hope he can remain a modest nice guy, and not get lost in all the attention he's gonna get.

  5. Cam seems so calm and relaxed, and he plays that way as well. He plays very calm and relaxed and then ZOOM he turns on the speed. He is deceptively very quick.

  6. love that jj is in brooklyn bc the media hates the nets this the only mainstream channel that sometimes covers/interviews nets players

  7. great snippet this is a really interesting topic that fans definitely don’t think about…always love the discussions and excited to hear the full episode

  8. I hope he continues to get minutes. He’s a fun player to watch, and can be a star. Hopefully Jacque Vaughn won’t pull the bullshit he did last season.

  9. I swear these long form conversations are the best thing ever.
Every single time I listen to these dudes just talk about the game we all love I walk away a bigger fan of the individual. Thanks for the pod.

  10. So what is he? A sixth man, starter, all star potential, sixth man of the year potential? I think he’s had one of the most confusing starts to an NBA career that no one is sure there is a clear roadmap to what he can become

  11. The Nets need to trade him while he still has value and get some front court help. We need a big man to help Claxton way more than we need a dude out on the perimeter trying to do his best Kobe impersonation. #GoNets

  12. I’d like someone to tell Cam the same thing D’Antoni told James Harden: you could lead the league in assists as a pg. He may not quite be able to get there, but there’s no reason he couldn’t be a legit playmaker for others with his skills and the shooting on the Nets.

  13. Im a nets fan from England became a nets fan in 2016 when dlo, rhj ,prince and Dudley was on the team the fun basketball attracted me and ive been a fan ever since. they remind me if the football/soccer team I support arsenal its the underdog mentality I love so much. im 26 now whenever I play 2k im on the nets or free agent there
cam has been fave player on the nets since he got drafted I always wanted him to get big minutes and im finally happy he's stepped up and taking advantage of it. Him and spenc if they can form a great guard partnership will be amazing to watch spend is such a underrated passer too
