I don’t think it would be that shocking.

LeBatard is a mouthpiece for the Front Office

Lillard easily puts most teams far beyond the tax. Better win a championship. And he’s old.

With JJJ, it doesn’t matter if you miss the playoffs. Still have a great, young player locked up for several years.

The Warriors FO would take Jaime on a rookie deal over paying a gazillion dollars in tax for a third old small guard.

Kerr would just randomly DNP him, but still

What he is saying is not as radical as it initially sounds, because he said cap number. Remember most teams do not have the ready made team to win with Dame and we know that Dame can’t carry a team. So if a GM is looking at the long term, yes most would want a young talent with a low cap number they can build around than an older vet with high cap number. That is because with the young player, they will have more time and flexibility.

Mike really has turned into a clown in recent years. Just let the rook do his thing don’t put these narratives on him that’s how we invite hate

Yeah, most teams set at PG (OKC, Kings, Denver…) or at least primary ball-handlers capable of creating offence (Suns) would pick Jaime for sure even if he was making double of what he currently makes. That list includes Celtics, 76ers, Magic, Knicks, Pacers, Cleveland, Atlanta among PO contenders in the East.

Newsflash: Heat are among the very few teams (Raps, Nets, and maybe NO are the other competitive teams with similar roster construction) that have plethora of wings and no PGs capable of playing the entire season at contender level. Sure, there is Herro and Jimmy as ball handlers, but let’s not act like they are as good at creating own shot as the three-headed monster of Beal-Booker-KD.
