It should be easier for chet. He's not the main focus or trying to carry a team.
Chet got him in efficiency but that’s it , as of right now Vic lead the league in steals+blocks and leads all rookies in every stat besides assists
Chet deserves the RoY right now. He is just much more consistent than Wemby. Wemby has ridiculous talent but his shot selection, turnovers and hot streak ending missed 3 pointers. Chet appears to have just better basketball IQ.
Go Spurs Go
Wemby has to win the individual matchups in order to have a chance now. Or Holmgren gets injured — which you don't want to wish on anyone. Unfortunately, this Spurs FO put Wemby in a position to be the first #1 overall pick in franchise to lose out the ROY. All the Spurs fanbae can hope for is that when Wemby starts to acquire more power down the road, that he puts pressure on this FO and ownership to actually surround him with a contender. That he's less "trust the process" because the guys that supposedly built that process are over-the-hill, not in that position anymore, or gone. Wright and Co. have only been in SA since 2019, essentially coinciding with the Spurs worst years. The most disappointing thing about this whole thing is that Wemby was SO HAPPY to come to SA because of the history and I'm all the reported dysfunction at those other organizations, only for this team, this org, to let him down. Not the city. Not the fanbase. The ownership and the FO. And that's sobering if you're Spurs fan.
