Slam and Jam Podcast: “Currently, the Pacers have the #1 offense in the league and the 29th ranked defense… we are talking about the most efficient offense in the history of the NBA, and the 2nd worst defense the game has ever seen”

Lots of interesting discussion on the Pacers from Andrew Schlecht and Alex Speers on this week’s Slam and Jam episode of the Athletic NBA pod. They take a look at this year’s Pacers team from a historical context, finding teams with similarly extreme offense/defense differences. The Pacers currently hold the record for most efficient offense in the history of the NBA and the second worst defense in the history of the NBA, only better than the current Wizards team.

Most of the Pacers discussion is in the first half of the episode – pod can be found here: [https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-athletic-nba-show/id1358187061?i=1000637216999](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-athletic-nba-show/id1358187061?i=1000637216999)

Full quote from title of post:

“Currently, per cleaning the glass, the Pacers have the #1 offense in the league and the 29th ranked defense. But due to the recent offensive explosion across the league, saying that it’s the #1 offense and the 29th ranked defense doesn’t really do the Pacers justice. Technically, we are talking about the most efficient offense in the history of the NBA, and the 2nd worst defense the game has ever seen – and the only thing preventing the Pacers from holding both titles for best offense of all time and worst defense of all time are those damn Washington Wizards”
