> So, there you have it. Both Begarin and Madar remain guys to continue to monitor overseas. But it seems unlikely that either will be playing in Boston anytime soon. At best, maybe they could be that additional little “something” to juice a trade offer. Even then, that doesn’t seem overly likely. Neither has taken the necessary leap to be at that sort of level. The good news? Begarin and Madar are just 21 and 22 years old, respectively. There’s still time for both to continue to grow and more improvement should come. Lastly, according to each scout and front office person we spoke with, don’t expect to see either player in Summer League again. One scout told CelticsBlog, “Been there, done that. Neither guy has anything to gain by playing in Summer League. Outside of dominating, it won’t help them land an NBA spot.”

Forgot we even had the rights to these guys lol

Was hoping for more from Begarin

I don’t really see a path for Madar unless it’s something like he comes over at 28 to play third string pg. Guard depth in the league is crazy and to make it worse we have the best guard rotation in the league.

Begarin seems to be stagnating a bit so I’m not as high on him. Yam at least has been contributing on competitive teams and leagues. He was on Dante Exums team last year who made it back to the NBA this season.
I think Yam can hopefully at least develop into an asset whose rights you can trade even if he comes into the NBA in his late 20s.

I’m a big fan of the limited stuff I’ve seen from Begarin, but the dude can’t fucking shoot. He’s got 118 points on 103 FGA and a TS% of 52.7 so far this year, and that’s following up a 48.4 TS% last year. If he ever figures out an offensive niche, SOMETHING he can do with consistency and efficiency, it probably will only result in him being paid better over there. He can’t come to the NBA unless he shows he can dominate over there, and it sounds like he’s stagnated quite a bit.

They’re both ass

“Outside of dominating” so p much saying there’s no shot either are good enough to dominate summer league… which you don’t even have to be *that good* to do
They are both still young though, I have much more confidence that begarin might ever be an nba player than yam personally

Remember that one summer when everyone was convinced Yam was gonna be our backup pg

I feel like both of these guys had “rotten on the vine” written all over them like two years ago.

Meanwhile, Yabusele is rocking it with Real Madrid. That’s the guy I’d look into bringing back into the fold…

The conclusion is pretty notable:
