Tatum to blame for Celtics loss vs. Haliburton’s Pacers + Kings-Pelicans reaction | Hoops Tonight

Jason Timpf reacts to the NBA In-Season Tournament games on Monday night between Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics vs. Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers, and De’Aaron Fox and the Sacramento Kings vs. Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans. Haliburton’s triple-double knocked off Tatum and the Celtics last night as Tatum continued to struggle with his jump shot, and Brandon Ingram’s 30-point night was too much for the Kings to overcome.

  1. This guy is a hot take bot

The Pacers played great last night, shot 48% from 3. BUT let's not get crazy. The Celtics did beat the Pacers by 51pts a few weeks ago?

  2. The Celtics are consistent winners where there #1 is 25yrs old. You'll be eating your words for next 10yrs

  3. Boston just will never be good enough with Tatum or Brown. Really feel like they're in the same spot the Thunder we're in a few years ago where they have 2 guys in PG in Russ that are good, but never gonna be good enough and they should really just blow it up and get the picks. Maybe they get someone who becomes a star or they draft well and they're where OKC is right now, because this team as currently constructed will never be good enough, not bc of Holiday, White, or KP, but because Tatum and Brown are 2 of the least clutch and most overrated "stars" this league has seen for the last 20 years.

  4. Tatum is who he is at this point in his career. Just doesn’t seem like it cause he’s so young but he’s been around forever. In the moment of truth he’s just gonna settle for a jumper because he’s not quick or a confident/athletic driver of the basketball..leads the league in missed layups virtually every year. He’s been better this year, but it’s the same ole song in the end.

  5. The Pacers did begin progressing on defense against the Heat on Saturday. The NBA didn't allow that win to be a headline, but they won without their only All Star…against multiple All NBA/All Stars in Jimmy Butler and Kyle Lowry. The Pacers won that game without Ty and Jalen Smith (backup center). Jalen Smith was still out for the IST Quarterfinal game, and Ty was playing it recovering from an upper respiratory infection (why he didn't play on Saturday) so had trouble breathing in the first half. Some puffs from an inhaler at halftime helped him breathe better (still not 100%) in the second half.

  6. The only analysis i ever hear from you if the Celtics do anything good in the game is "BeCaUse Of ALl THe TaLEnt thAt TheY HAVe". That's some bullshit

  7. I agree with the Tatum analysis defensively. I can't believe he got cooked by aaron nesmith. The celtics are at their best when he plays defense. Last year as well he tried to switch it on in the playoffs and it cost us some games. Offensively though i wasn't mad infact i was encouraged.

  8. I hate how right you are lol JT is the primary ball handler in clutch but is often trying to punish his match ups then creating quality shots. It’s frustrating to have an uneasy feeling during these intense games when we are a top team but lack control especially during the third-quarter, in these important games.

  9. Boston would have won if KP played. KP could have played last night but Boston didn’t think they needed him to beat the Pacers. They were resting him for the Bucks and it cost them the game. They took the Pacers to lightly!

  10. Why I’m not surprised by this guy to find a way to criticize at JT the man showed up atleast 32 12 and 6 lol but you criticize that instead of throwing all the smoke at Jrue or Al the reasons why they lost that game

  11. Wow,i bet he wuld say Haliburton is better than Tatum. Him and Jb and over 30. Tatum almost had a triple double too.

  12. Mailbag Question: Tatum's decision making has basically been the same for his entire career and at this point I feel pretty confident he's plateaued as a player at a level below championship worthy. For Boston, what do you think the return would be if they decided to rebuild and what would the outlook be if they did what OKC did when they traded Russ and PG and traded Brown and Tatum for picks? I just see no way the Celtics will ever win anything with this team after this game so I'm curious what you think they should do assuming that is the case.

  13. Mailbag question: Do you think the Pacers should try to trade for Anunoby as that 3 and D guy you were talking about since I doubt they can touch Mcdaniels or herb and also how do you think the playoffs will go for the Pacers as currently construct?

  14. Lights out Celtics analysis coming from a Celtics fan. Genuinely think that this episode specifically will get my friend to start checking out the channel. For years he’s been begging for Tatum/brown/etc to just drive in and draw fouls and is sick of the pull-up shots and 3s

  15. NBA finally figured out their season & it looks good:
    – In-season tournament (Nov & Dec)
    – Xmas marquee matchups (end of Dec)
    – MLK Bball slate (mid Jan)
    – Trade Deadline (end Feb)
    – All-Star game/break (March)
    – playoff ramp-up (March-April)
    – play-in games (April)
    -playoffs (April-June)

Basically each month a milestone or two

  16. Mailbag Question: hey Jason , I am a 5’5 guard not a professional player but I play social basketball . I really want to improve the way I attack or defend guys that are way bigger than me ..any advice?

P.S : Coach’s or whoever I play with always have me on the PG position of which I am way better on off ball situations.
