Look we know what this team is at this point, and that’s okay. We’re a first round / second round tops playoff team.
That’s massive progress and we’re in a really solid position, but we are not going any further until we improve talent on the team. That’s either via trade or through the draft.
We know the popular / commonly rumoured trade targets: Mikal Bridges, Donovan Mitchell, Embiid, KAT etc
We do not know how likely any of these are atp.
So with my Brock Aller hat on, I’m wondering what talent people are watching out for this year in the draft. We have a clear and present need for a talented wing who can not only shoot the ball but create their own shot and open the floor for JB and co. (I’m still mad we missed out on Jalen Williams honestly).
For the time being, the Knicks hold four picks in the first round of the 2024 draft. In the 19th slot, the mock draft from Wasserman has the Knicks selecting forward Bobi Klintman from the Cairns Taipans (NBL).
One player I’m pretty impressed with is Terrance Shannon Jr, 6’6 wing from Illinois. Last week he dropped 33pts in MSG:
An older player who has started the season very strong. Super athletic and good finishing around the rim, he’s also comfortable stepping into 3pt shots. He’s made steady improvements in college so I’m not against drafting these older players. I was very high on Mikal Bridges for this same reason.
Which players have impressed you so far or are worth keeping an eye on?
