Ben Simmons had his best seasons prior to arriving here. I doubt we’re getting a full season out of him. He has injuries but I also doubt he’s putting his best foot forward to get better. I personally believe he’s milking that contract till the end. After this, no team will ever pay him that much again. With all of that said: what’s the best option for him? We can keep him and remove that amount off of our books, trade him for picks or young players if a team wants that amount off of their books. I doubt he’ll return to playing 79 + games he did his 1st two seasons in the league. During those seasons he averaged 16.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 7.9 assists, 1.5 steals.

It would be cool if he could play enough for me to form an opinion on him.
Nothing. We try to trade him next year if we can but otherwise we have to ride out his contract while we get out of the repeater tax. He’s one of the worst trades ever made and one of the worst contracts ever. Certified bum. Even when he’s played he hasn’t been good.
How do you doubt he’s putting his best foot forward? Y’all are so weird
Wait til he’s a FA and let him walk. That’s it. There’s no reason to waive him, and there’s nobody that would trade him. And I don’t wanna attach picks just to get rid of him.
He’s basically the equivalent to a barnacle on the side of a boat right now.
The only option I’m in favor of, is him expiring here. Using draft capital to dump his contract when we’re not a contender is not wise.
We have to trade him. No if, and’s or buts. He’s expiring next season right? Someone will bite. But this experiment here is over.
Him and his team claimed he was “*100%*” and not even 10 games in and he’s probably done for the remainder of the year.
Only option is help him become the best version of what he can be now and wait till his contract expires or a team calls sean marks and asks for him via trade.
He will be an expiring contract next year, so depending on the situation we’re in, we could trade him to a team that’s looking to shed long-term salary. But that’s hard to predict. I don’t expect him to ever play for us. His body has failed him.
FYI he missed his first season competly so he didn’t average 79 games his first two seasons
Why wouldn’t the nets just want to get his contract off the books when his contract expires if they’re not going to contend and can’t tank until then anyway?
Be opportunistic with him.
His contract is expiring, there’s still a theoretical chance he bounces back.
He might even be in a package that nets us a superstar.
Right now keep him on the roster.
Hypnotize Golden State into trading him for Klay
Nice try
We just need to let him walk next year or waive him and stretch his contract. Yes we will probably be able to trade him for some teams undesirable contracts next year but having that extra 40M to go after free agents would be a wiser path, because we aren’t getting anything good for Simmons the guy is trash and horribly overpaid. Acquiring him in the first place was a mistake
Respectfully, you don’t get it
Sign and trade next year, or a buyout around the middle of the season next year.
Mfers scared of playing basketball
Only way to trade him is for a worse contract with more years and adding a ton of picks. We just have to accept that he’s here to stay….
He may be tradable in the off season when he has one year left, but you’re still attaching a ton of assets to get rid of him.
He’s an accounting error we can’t fix. After 2025 is when the Nets compete.
