Scottie’s 30 point Triple Double NOT ENOUGH against Lamelo-less Hornets

The Toronto Raptors are on the road on Friday evening as they head to the Spectrum Center against the Charlotte Hornets in an Eastern Conference showdown. The Raptors (9-12) are 12th in the conference and are on a two-game losing streak after a 112-103 home loss on Wednesday against the Miami Heat. The Hornets (6-13) are 13th in the conference and are also on a two-game losing streak after a 111-100 road loss against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday. This is the first of four games against one another so this will be a great test.

  1. I hope you feel better Rob. I hate to say it, but it is looking like a lost season. The problems with the team run deep starting with the coaching and the defense. Masai may make some moves. But I don't see any realistic trades that will make us a top 6 team or close. It's hard to swallow a rebuilding year when we have traded away our first round draft choice. The continued development of Scottie, Malachi and Gradey Dick when he returns may be what we have to look forward to this season. It looks kind of dismal at the moment.

  2. Rob, in your discussion with coach Mo @1:17:45 who relentlessly went on a tirade against Darko for these lineups involving Dennis, you mention briefly theres a chance it could be mandated from above. I agree. Mo asks you whats the logic behind that? Management is currently in negotiations with GTJ for his contract extension and has been for a while now. Perhaps his camp is asking for more than he's worth. I believe he is being punished for that reason alone, for making life difficult for the Front Office. If this is the case, it would be a valid reason why Darko keeps starting Dennis instead of GTJ and it is out. of his control. I'm sick of people assuming a 1st year head coach has free reign with starting lineups and roster rotations. Unfortunately for Darko, currently priority is given to the Front Office in terms of contract extensions and upcoming trade window. I have a feeling once all that passes Darko will have the opportunity to implement his vision for the team in full.

  3. I feel that if we bench Dennis we can play better. I still don't understand why Darko put all the starters back in when they were crap.

  4. Sell the farm. No joke. Vets are clearly not made to lead anyone anywhere. Find packages for Gary, Pascal, Poeltl, Schröder, Boucher and even OG if you have to. They're all wildly inconsistent or simply not talented or intelligent enough to play good, winning ball on the regular. Complete rebuild.

  5. I agree Darko!! That last play at the end for just Scottie to dribble in shoot a contested 3 was hard to watch. What was the point of the play. I would have preferred a two man game between Scottie and OG.

  6. People don't understand why trade your best player away who won a championship to rebuild. That will take more years. Do fans want to watch us become Detroit?

  7. Life thrown me some bricks and curveballs in the last year but your channel has grown in such a great way and is my faviroute late night solace during some rough times, keep er rocking dude!!

  8. Seeing how much Scottie has to direct guys when to cut, to get out of his way, where to guard, and just in general where to stand, I hope they just let Scottie run some film sessions. Scottie at a glance can see what all of his teammates next 2 move should be but yet most of them can't even see what their own next move. It's really frustrating to see our guys play the way they do. Make the right moves and cuts and Scottie will find you. He has the vision, it's that easy.

  9. Scott and Boucher had a connection. Chris lifts the energy output. I felt their impact during the runs

  10. Second unit with Scottie was cooking, had the whole squad hyped…..so let’s take them out for the old guys. Win or lose: that unit getting to bring the team back; and fight till the end is a ‘lesson’ that Malachi. Gary, Chris and Precious didn’t get to see out. Those are the decisions I don’t get. Those are the valuable scenarios that 3 young guys (4 if you count Scottie even though he stayed in) can’t learn just by watching. Another missed opportunity for hands on experience for the young guys.

They deserved the chance to win or lose that game… assuming we don’t make trades , I hope we just keep losing now so we can get to the point where darko doesn’t have the dilemma of taking out that unit out or the game:

  11. Clarifying my thoughts on the Dennis interview;

    1. The use of "look in the mirror" and "I'm always honest…with myself" after accepting responsibility for the loss simply aims to distract from the prior statement. It's a tactic used by many politicians.

For instance "I take full responsibility for this oil spill.. I'm always accountable and honest.. but at the end of the day we had 50 quality assurance people who missed it, and 100 other people who could have caught it… We all need to be better"…

    2. Saying "This is not who I am" is just a blatant lie. This extends from a scrum from 2 days ago where he goes on and on about how he's NOT a 1-on-1 player. Like come on now? He's absolutely a 1-on-1 player. I've watched at least 220 games of his over the years. And apart from most of last season with the Lakers when he was on a veteran minimum, he's been this player throughout his entire career.

    3. When Blake asked what his process is after a tough game in terms of what he does, he launches into a rant about everybody can have tough nights and being around family.

While it would make sense to simply say "I go home and spend time with my kids. It makes me happy".. and I would argue any clean energy person would have said this, going on an extended rant about the importance of family, everybody having tough nights, it's just a game…this (imo) is just deep insecurity and self soothing.

It's basically deflection. And he does it again when Blake asks about changing the starting lineup.

Again, a simple answer would be "I'll leave that up to coach" or "we've talked about changing the lineup" or "we haven't talked about it" or even the FVV special "no one's talked about it with me"

    4. Finally, "If somebody outside of my teammates and family telling me I can't do nothing I don't need to hear it because they've probably never been on the court and did something"

This is an almost identical sentiment that FVV shared with CJ Miles last season. Funny. In the history of the Raptors, I can remember 3 players sharing this sentiment with the media.
    Mike James, FVV, Dennis.

    The difference?

Dennis is by far the worst of the 3.

  12. Hope you feel better fast Rob. Maybe its from all that burnout and laccumulated ack of rest?! Despite that..good analysis. Its going to be another rough year and yesterday i told someone at work,'remember when Masai said thst Nurse "s parti g words were "good luck with those guys!" Sadly, as much as nic and fred needed to go. The replacement solutions have been a lack of complimentsry talent. Ive heard thst Masai is not on the best of terms with the ownership from the rogers family. Perhaps this is all a reflection of the friction from the top with contract negotiations etc. from the darko post gsme interviewna few things he said were thst the starters were solid doesnt sound to me like anyone who os taking a serious look to shuffle 😮

  13. The game was lost early, the bench was great in the 2nd half. Brought much needed energy. Darko ran the bench extended mins in the 4th, probably would have subbed Pascal at the timeout up 5. To give you another scorer and fresh legs.
Scottie played well, his game had impact. got to the line is great, need to make more than 50%. But it's about growth,
Perfect time to put Scottie at point, give me another shooter and let's see what happens

  14. Just watching 2nd now and need to turn off the sound. Just listened to Alvin saying what a great team played Pascal is because he turned up a 3-ball to pass to Scottie "for the good of the team". It looked more like "I don't want this! You do it ". I'm so sick of the bias. It's like when Fred was here

  15. Imagine that late third to mid fourth quarter play with Hi IQ, quality players around Scottie. If the Raptors do this right, that's our future. If the Raptors do this right…

  16. Well sounds like many are almost ready to admit that Masai has failed this organization the last 3 years. His irrational belief that Giannis, again, was going to come skewed his decision making, creating what we have now. His signing Giannis's brother only in the belief it would be the final act to getting Giannis, while allowing player after player to walk with no return, and his belief , as has been stated by many before, that Schroeder was the answer, as his believe that Poeltl was the answer at 5, etc. etc., has proven that team is just what we always thought they were, no matter how many were swayed by the Team Owned Propaganda Media.

Let me guess is this now the 2nd worse take in the last few years. Seems interesting that views are finally coming around to reality land, not excuse based paranoia belief.
