Tyrese Haliburton will be the MVP of the In-Season Tournament over LeBron James with one more win. Most people never saw this coming when he was drafted but it was still a shock that 11 teams passed on him. This is a look at why that happened and if the Kings were wrong to give up on him so early.

Don't do Jalen Smith like that. He's been great for the Pacers this season and showed promise in his past seasons.
Now obi and Jalen Smith are his teammates š¤£
It was a win win for both sides and Iām not even a kings fan. Two small market teams got what they wanted or needed and so far both players seem to become instant fan favorites and donāt seem to be going anywhere for a long time.
Now, the league will start guarding him. I'm not saying the guy is not a baller, but this is premature.
They are both good for there teams
Now we have to see him do it in the playoffs
Golden State really could have gotten Tyrese. Imagine pairing him up with Steph
As a Pistons fan, I've always had the "if we draft Tyrese, we miss on Cade" excuse, but I gotta be honest: this argument is getting weaker by the day. I just hope Cade finally explodes.
Why Did 11 NBA Teams Pass on Tyrese Haliburton? The same reason you are just now talking about Tyrese Haliburton
Because ultimately most lottery picks are a shot in the dark. No matter how much scouting you do, you can't account for injuries/adjustment issues/mentality issues/team fit/development/life etc… There's more chance of that pick going bust than flourishing.
Just a good run, he' ll falleventually.
I had some front office connections at that time and the concerns were based on his lack of driving and FTR. Historically low numbers that made people think he would be more of a secondary playmaker and not primary. His shooting has concerns on whether his awkward form would translate and if it was quick enough. But it wasnāt considered a strength because of that (graded as decent + or slightly above average. ) he was also older as a prospect.
I do think that if he had a full college season and a normal pre draft process he wouldāve been a top 5.
Spurs GM needs to elfin GO!!!
The real MVP here is the father. Today's society has underestimated the importance of a true father figure.
"Miles Turner wants to be traded/Pacers looking to trade Miles Turner" what every sports journalist says every. single. year. with no validity
Tyrese has the Steph vibe. I never heard that story about Dallas trying to trade Brunson for the #8. We could have had Tyrese, OR Brunson plus two more first-round picks. Instead, we wasted the #8 pick on a bench guy.
The Knicks will never win a title while Dolan owns the team. They are cursed.
Yes, the people that watch Kings basketball are the only people that don't regret the trade. Fox is awesome and he works really well with Sabonis. "Fourth Quarter Fox" is not the bust that people are pretending he is. And the Kings are coming off their best season in decades. Calling them a "first round exit" team after they seeded 3rd in the West and took the underseeded Warriors to a game 7 in their first full year together is pretty tone deaf.
That trade was a huge win for both teams. As a Pacers fan that has been keeping up with Sabonis, I wish the Kings the best and I expect to see a Sac-Indy Finals in the coming years, as both teams mature.
As a Kings fan I do believe the Hali-Domas trade was a win-win, BUT I do agree completely is was a much bigger win for the Pacers for sure.
Calling Jalen Smith a bust is crazy my boy
12 on his way back š« šæ
Tyrese is the New James Harden
Not even a Kings fan but i doubt they regret it because they are doing well. Your video was making sense until you said tbe Kings traded Haliburton for a first round exit, like the Pacers have won the Championship with Haliburton yet. Both players compliment the teams they were traded to.
Gms are stupid. The end. The analytics called this guy 2 years before he popped naturally the kings traded him.
Am hoops is elite
I do give credit to the kings in the trade too. Buttttt, I can see your take eventually being true. If the Kings donāt compete for championships, then the Pacers will be seen as the long term winners of this trade.
WTF? If you were kings, who would keep, him or fox?
Everyone always asks why teams pass up great talent but never ask why nba talent scouts are severely flawed.
You gotta understand, Tyrese wouldn't be the player that he is right now if he played with Fox. So yeah, the trade was a win win for both teams.
To me heās closer to Deron Williams than Nash
@5:32 classic Knicks move ššš
I think the kings trade was good, I mean they are playing well & the kings havenāt played well or been fun to watch since Webber left. they do have Fox at guard so, hindsight is 50/50 but the trade filled a big need for the Kings.
Haliburton & Fox would not have worked u gotta choose 1
he's a better pro than college player, for one. and the reason he went where he did is because people thought he was beating up on college noobs as an experienced player at iowa state
As a spurs fan Iām not really mad at the front office they passed on Ty to go after devin, tbh he is great and we got wemby thanks to devin being injured last year, we probably wouldnāt have been on that position with Ty
Tyrese took the grind route when he didnāt have too bro work harder then most
hol on Patrick Williams isnāt a bust
Enough with the fake hype train…. he had a good few games… he needs to win in the playoffs before you guys start to simp over him
Lol how you going to hate on Sabonis?
The Pacers sucked when he was on the team because they didn't have talent? They've completely changed the roster and the way they play.
Hali is legit, but Sabonis wasn't the reason the Pacers sucked.
As a Kings fan I was soooo mad when they traded him, but now I'm just happy that everything seems to work out for Tyrese! I wish him all the success in the world. Maybe he'll return one day – who knows… š
Didn't age well about the In-season MVP
Smart people still can not predict many things.
It's interesting how many of those picks now play in Indy
Man as a wolves fan it was so annoying going into that draft hearing about how weak this draft was.
One of the best guard classes in recent memory
Knicks just sucks at drafting š
