Why the Raptors have no choice but to trade Siakam or Anunoby

A new Shams article dropped on The Athletic yesterday, and according to the NBA insider, teams across the league are believing that now, more than ever, either Pascal Siakam or OG Anunoby could be traded by the Feb. 8 deadline. No Dunks discuss why this makes sense and potential suitors.

  1. I refuse to believe Masai and Bobby are this incompetent. It’s the ownership group, especially Rogers, trying to exert their power on this franchise. They just want to milk every last drop out of these fans and once the milk has run dry, they will blame it on Masai and bring in a new regime of yes men. If you think it’s bad now, just wait.

  2. I hate watching this team. Same as last year. Think of the last decade, going back to thoae first Demar/Lowry teams. They didnt win it all but they cared, the bench was great. Easy to cheer for. The title team and the year after same thing.

The last two years this front office has been too loyal and blind to what every Raps fan can see. They arent even close to being good enough to win a Play-In game never mind a playoff round.

If they don't make massive changes, they all need to be fired, Masai included.

  3. The Raptors had no center for years and no respectable bench played since Norm left. No matter what core players you go with if you don't have a good "others" squad you won't make any noise.

  4. OG and Pascal are both a bit overrated by Raptor's fans and Raps team management, and the team is not seizing the opportunity to capitalize on the closing window for talent value. Get something for OG now before more and more teams realize they aren't contenders and the market shrinks throughout the season.

  5. As a pacers fan…raptors fans saying Benedict Mathurin that’s so dumb why would pacers trade for a guy who may be a rental and give up a young player of that caliber. If anything it would be a pick 1st round nembhard and buddy hield maybe a few second rounders but otherwise doesn’t make sense to. Can’t expect other teams to overpay especially pacers have cap space to sign em in free agency. They waited this long to decide that’s their faults.

  6. I was a Raptors fan from New Jersey and never been to Toronto… However Pascal will be happy after being traded once he detach and realized there are greener pastures ..The Raptors cannot shoot management is asleep and Masai is one the worst negotiators in sports…just a opinion of course.. winning or losing I don't care they just have no shooters in a game where shooting is important..duh

  7. Y’all keep saying have no choice like you haven’t said this for 2-3 years about Masai now.

Sometimes you have someone at the table who refuses to fold. Bet accordingly.

  8. If it's trade one or the other then I say OG. If you're looking for value Pascal is probably the better option. But OG has been so frustrating to me at this point you know what he's gonna be for his entire career. And that is a great defender who can't do much of anything on the offensive end other than spot up from deep. Been waiting and waiting every year for him to take that next step on offense become a better driver and finisher score off of the dribble. And every year none of that really improves at all. So only time your gonna get a big game out of him is either if he's hitting like 6 threes or is getting a bunch of steals and easy buckets. Any time he drives it's usually wild and out of control and I just shake my head any time he goes to his mid range pull up game as swear he has to be shooting like 24% or something on those types of shots.

To me kind of hope they trade OG ASAP. As want to give Trent a run in the starting unit. I know he hasn't been great off of the bench but back when he was in the starting unit he was averaging close to 20ppg. So want to see him be given a chance as he's still only 24 so he's one of the guys I would like to see them stay with for a young core.

  9. Masai and Bobby have grossly mismanaged this team. And all that stalling is finally catching up to them

  10. not much trade value prob top 5 protected anyway. Shouldn't deal these guys. trade for ja Morant ?? you're not going to give Pascal a raise !!! take less is the strategy. Maybe trade o g for Evan Fournier he's an expiring…

  11. I wish that Rodgers would just sell its stake and we could just have a owner who likes basketball. Trade GTJ, Pascal and Jak for shooters. FVV is not worth 40 mil a year, there was no one going to trade anything good for him.

  12. The only incompetent front office is the Warriors. They are so prideful to the point that they're too scared to trade Wiggins or break-up this group. You need to be loyal to Steph not Klay (who has never improved his game in any other way) and Dray (who's emotions constantly hinder their chances aka punching Poole even if it was warranted, he caused KD to leave, and all of the other dumb suspensions). Its time to end this and do right by Steph

  13. It's been tough watching this team the last few years. We need depth and shooting. If I can play arm chair gm, i'd trade pascal to the hawks for murray and bogdanovic. i'm sure picks or other pieces need to be thrown in. but immediately shooting and a bit of depth can be addressed. just do something.

  14. Get rid of OG. He hasn't shown he's anything more than a solid 3 and D player. Sell him when the market's hot

  15. Siakam would be AMAZING on rhe the Kings. Even of the kings give up huerter and Barnes. Biggest issue will be resigning him.

  16. I don't understand how anyone would say trade Siakam and keep OG. We've seen what OG will be and it's definitely not as good as Siakam. It's a pipe dream to think OG is just a Siakam trade away from greatness.
