WAIT, Was The Tyrese Haliburton Trade Actually STUPID?

  1. As a Pacer fan I am glad that it can not be traded back – Haliburton is the best thing to happen to my team ever – its never been a free agent destination and ownership is too competitive to tank/bottom out – Mathurin was the highest pick for Indiana since Rik Smits went #2 in 87 – commendable stubborness but frustrating as a fan

  2. As a Kings fan these convos got old reaaaal quick. I’m just glad we have a GM who knows what tf he’s doing now and has a solid eye for talent.

  3. I can’t even fathom how people think this is fair. So what if the Kings made the playoffs? Hali is literally about to crack the top 10…which precedes winning at a high level in this league.

  4. No way Kings would have traded Fox, that’s their guy. If the two seem even, it will destroy their reputation to choose Haliburton over Fox, and one of them had to go for the pieces to fit.

You can argue they should have traded Haliburton for a more valuable big.

But I don’t see how that would work, any big better than Sabonis are untouchable.

  5. If the nba has taught us something is that young superstars can't co exist even if they play different positions. Fox is the man in sac and Haliburton in indy

  6. I’m so sick of the argument that “player X played so well for this team, he would have grown and been this good in ANY team”. That’s almost never the case. Maybe the top 5% of the league would be great no matter where they are, bottom 5-10% won’t be great anywhere, but the rest of the league it’s all dependent on team, culture, teammates, situation, etc

  7. Sacramento's situation there reminds me of the situation Cleaveland had with Mark Price and Terell Brandon. It's worth noting that Sacramento tried to trade Fox first but didn't find a deal they liked.

  8. OH, and another thing. Buddy Hield was in the trade to the Pacers. Sacramento could have kept a starting back court of Haliburton and Hield, and traded Fox to improve the team in the front court. 🤡🤡🤡

  9. Tyrese is highly efficient and has a very bright future but can Indiana now build around him as a smaller market team who now has to throw hundreds of millions of dollars at him to keep him in the near future.

The only 4 or 5 that put up over 18 pts 12 reb and 7 assists in the league right now are Jokic and Sabonis. Kings got out of Buddy Hield's contract and cancerous personality in the trade too.

I still see it as a win-win as a Kings fan, Sabonis took less money in his new contract to keep the team together. Both Tyrese and Deaaron have unlocked their potentials and couldnt be happier for both of them.

  10. Fox is better than Haliburton, that should be the conversation. The Kings stuck with their guy and built around Fox and brought in a top 5 center. Haliburton has yet to even make the playoffs. Sabonis’ production is just as irreplaceable as Haliburton’s. Go check Sabonis’ stats. He literally averages a double double plus 6 assists a game. Absolutely insane numbers for a center. At the end of the day, I’m glad Haliburton has found success outside of Sacramento but the Kings acquiring Sabonis broke the longest playoff drought in American sports. A monumental feat. The Kings are relevant again because of Sabonis. Yeah he has his flaws but he fits the Kings timeline much better and is a much better fit alongside Fox. Everyone is falling for the hype of the newest young star but I promise the Kings will find more success in the long term than the Pacers.

  11. Why isnt anyone mentioning sabonis being all nba and fox being, as of right now, playing like mvp level

  12. I’d say Indiana definitely won, but I wouldn’t say Sacramento lost. They addressed one of their biggest needs with Sabonis, and with Fox playing as well as he is, Haliburton likely would’ve never developed into the type of player he is now, be it due to playing as a SG or as a 6th man.

  13. It wasn’t a bad trade at all. He would not become who he is in SAC. SAC chose Fox and I don’t think it was the “wrong” decision. Both players are great. Kings did something to help them more and IND did something to help them more. Win-win.

  14. I see it as a win-win trade until either Hali wins an MVP or Sacramento wins a Championship. Cause, its balanced, but when one of the two sides wins something big, then it stops being balanced.

  15. I guess the question is really if a team can be good with two ball dominant point guards as their two best players. I’m not sure but I can’t really think of where that’s worked off the top of my head.

  16. My issue with the trade is the Kings could have gotten more for him if he was traded somewhere else but since they did make the playoffs I guess it’s fine.

  17. Bro you literally said the exact same thing over and over and over and it took me the whole video to realize it. Well done.

  18. Its not this trade. Its about choosing who they want, Fox or Hali. They need Sabo. Fox and Hali cant play together, both reed thin guards

  19. The issue is they drafted Davion over some other guys. But they’re still good with Foxy, Sabonis and Murray for years to come!

  20. Stop rehashing this…the trade worked out great for both teams at the time of the trade. Haliburton is a beast, but so are Fox and Sabonis.

  21. No. This is a problem with so many NBA teams in recent memory – this logic that you can just throw talent at the wall and hope it sticks. Hali has blown up in Indy because he is the primary playmaker and the team is built to thrive around him. Fox works with Sabonis because Fox is a blur in transition and impossible to guard 1 on 1, while Sabonis gives you a great offensive hub to use in the half court. If Fox and Hali are back on the same team, not only would Hali and Fox's production both drop significantly, their teams would be inferior because now you need to build around 2 players who don't complement eachothers game!
