It probably wouldn’t happen in a million years for a multitude of reasons, but if for some reason Thibs either steps down or is let go, I wouldn’t mind seeing Pitino return to the bench.

I also call bullshit on ‘the guy’ narratives, about players who are great vs great ‘and win championships’. They’re *always* retroactive based on team success.
I guarantee you if you give Ewing one upgrade of a meh role player to a low level star, and he wins a couple rings because of it? Suddenly he’s ‘the guy’ who can win championships.
Hell, change nothing but the spin on the ball in a few key shots in the playoffs (I’ll lay off naming them…) and I guarantee the same.
People don’t want to admit how much of sports is a. A crapshoot and b. Based on the team structure. No doubt great individual players can be the difference, but they can also fail to be, too, without any change in ability.

Id put Brunson and Randle and our 8 man rotation (w/ a healthy Mitch who is the heart of our defense) up against anyone
losing mitch for an extended time has hurt our championship aspirations much more than the lack of a ‘star’ like Lavine or Donovan
