YouTube you know how to go live rich but you don’t know how to put me on the screen so it’s true that’s the problem yeah and I I had to learn on the Fly how to do that as well so yeah we’re just trying to trying to get

Uh stream going right now it’s it’s the oldest postgame show ever and tonight yeah and uh so for those that don’t know Rich here uh why don’t you tell everyone a bit about about uh your uh yourself and your channel and all that good stuff Rich

Okay a little bit about myself uh well the condom broke uh so then my mom and dad no um I’m I’m I live I live in Los Angeles so yes I’m in enemy territory I’ve been a Blazers fan for over 35 years now um so grew up in West Virginia

Of all places rooted for the lasers all my life still still a fan handcuffed to the franchise and uh yeah started up a channel Eric and I been friends online for a couple of years and uh much like anybody that wants to reach out to Eric brand you know super super great to

Engage with everybody and uh we always talked about doing a show talking about like some of the good old days in Blazer history and we finally started to do that this year not realizing that everything was going to go down with Dame and so on and so forth we had some

Fears but we didn’t necessarily know that it was all going to go down that way uh and there was always that you know that slim hope that maybe the pingpong balls would break right and wimy would go to the Blazers so Eric and I uh kind of started up Rip City retro

Together is just a way to kind of talk about the good old days we’ve done quite a few long form episodes and when I say long form Eric and I have started them on one day and finished them the next day because we crossed over into the

Next stage shooting them I’ve gotten in major trouble for doing that a couple of times uh but you know we’ve we’ve done episodes where we’ve talked about you know the greatest Blazers you know the the greatest Blazer in history debate we’ve talked about the Blazers greatest draft picks the most painful moments in

Blazers history uh so you know yeah it’s always great whenever Eric can come on and do a long form video with me in the meantime I will typically do you know like kind of crazy intros where I use a lot of pp culture references and things like that but I like to answer

Everybody’s comments that come onto a Rip City retro video and comment and the channel is very small so I’m in a position to be able to comment on every comment being so small but we’ve amassed what Eric like over 660 um subscribers to the channel in a

Relatively short period of time so it’s really right basically anybody that’s a Rip City retro fan is a fan of blazers uprise so um if you haven’t subscribed to the channel you know please head on over subscribe to ripy Retro I have been a little uh under the weather the last

Couple of months so I haven’t been able to put out as much content as I would like especially in the last month but I’ve started feeling uh much better and it’s funny Eric I Was preparing an episode for Christmas Day and when you reached out to me to say uh

Could I help you out tonight with co-hosting and I was like oh perfect this will give me an opportunity to tell everybody to hop on over to rip city retro on Christmas day I’ll have a little something for you there and then we should be back to regular programming

Over at that channel but yeah uh so many of you guys who I see here in the chat are over at Rib City retro and I just appreciate all of you guys yeah it’s always fun to do episodes with you we’ve done what we did one about the lottery history

Hisory um we did one about draft picks trades our worst moments as Blazer fans um the GM history of the Blazers all that good stuff and like rich said our most recent one was over um it was it started off mostly about we’re going to talk about as players moved on to

Other teams how we rooted for them whether we disliked them and hated them or if we cheered for them to win a championship um OB obviously leading into Dame on the Milwaukee Bucks this year um but yeah we ended up talking about a lot more about just fandom in

General and things like that which we always we always get sidetracked like we are right now uh but there was a game was a game tonight right yeah in all fairness do we really want to talk that much about this game I mean the Blazer

Sucked once again they get off to a good start uh they they take what a nine point lead in the first quarter no 11 point lead 11 lead 30 to 19 things are looking good they’re finally up and doing well in the first quarter it’s been a while uh and and

Things are you’re like okay maybe they came to play this year or this game and all of a sudden the second quarter Rich we’ve seen this I don’t know pretty much every game this season at some point the Blazers just go on a huge offensive drought and cannot seem to piece anything together

When they finally get an open shot they brick it uh that they just can’t take care of the ball lots of turnovers lots of uh them leading to Fast Break opportunities for the other team and when you have dangerous players like clay and Steph out there um it’s it’s

Tough to do that and then uh we make some uh I mean Trace dackson Davis and pitsky have both been playing really well for the Warriors oh yeah but we made them look like stars like we do a lot of uh you know role players um but

Really though the uh the Warriors have been playing pretty dang well since Draymond got suspended I think they’ve won every game um especially especially at home yeah they’ve been really tough at home so uh the pick all of a sudden is not looking as good as it did a week

Ago or so uh so hopefully they get back to their losing ways soon uh but uh yeah this was just a tough one and they just never seemed to to get it going there were times where they kept the lead around 12 or the deficit around 12

Points and you just wanted them to go on a run but then it was the opposite Golden State pushed it to like 18 or 19 and then the Blazers with cut it back down to 12 again or 14 or whatever but never really seemed to get close in this

One it never really seemed in doubt in the second half and uh resulting in garbage time at the end and uh not a very well contested game by the Blazers yeah you know and a lot of people I’ve noticed lately even though I’ve been even though I’ve been uh not

Feeling great I’ve still come on your guys post games just like watched your post games a lot of guys have been a lot of L of people have been accusing you guys being very negative lately um so let’s start with the positives um we because this was such a blowout

Tonight uh we did not have to suffer through uh what is probably the most pathetic overrated uh celebration that that has ever existed in NBA history which is the put him to sleep celebration which I hate that last game we played him I know we got it last

Game look never has there been a celebration that the parameters of it involve you already being up and now you’ve put the game away it’s not a clutch shot per se in terms of being a gamewinner it’s just a shot that puts you up by multiple possessions so it’s a

Weird kind of sad kind of pathetic uh celebration am I being a hater sure yeah I think of course I am but I just want to say I I was glad we didn’t have to see that tonight because I hate seeing that um however um in the first quarter

Let’s talk about the first quarter for a second because that’s really when the Blazers uh stopped paying attention to the game but um they did a lot of really good things in the first quarter you know you saw some really good defensive scrambling by the Blazers obviously you

Know they they got to um sit in San Francisco for a night waiting for the warriors uh so they kind of tried to jump on them in the first quarter which is smart that’s what they should do um and and there were moments where you could see the athleticism of this team

And why there are reasons to get so excited and Eric has walked off the show um understandable um I’m sick you already I know it took it took actually it I had I had the under um so I I lost still but so you know you saw a lot of

Good things to get excited about but they were very sloppy offensively like in terms of finishing shots in the first quarter so what was I think they were up seven by the end of the first quarter I think it was I think it was 30 to

23 that should have been like a 15 to 16 point lead going into the second quarter but we you know don’t cash in on some opportunities we let the warriors uh you know score a couple of buckets right before the end of the first quarter they’re feeling

Good about themselves and then what is an 11-point lead ends up turning into an 11-point deficit at the half and I don’t know how you felt Eric I mean obviously when the Blazers played the Bucks in Milwaukee and there was that super weird game where the Blazers were up by 26

When the Blazers were up by 11 in this game I I was excited and I was happy and I was proud of how the guys were playing it was great to see um you know scoot get an early dunk that was a lot of fun

But I never felt like the lead was going to last and then when the Warriors Got Up On Us by double digits I never felt like like we had a a combination and a series of buttons that Sean he was going to push that was going to get us back

Into the game did you feel that way uh not in this one no uh just seemed like short of someone like anony catching fire and hitting a bunch of Threes I think that was the only way I was thinking in my mind something like that could happen um which would was

Possible I wasn’t like completely like closing the page on that being the being the occurrence in this one uh so you weren’t you weren’t right like I was I wasn’t right yeah you weren’t right like I was that that that we had no chance of winning this game once we were up

11 no well because that’s how I felt yeah I mean I didn’t think that I thought I thought wow we came to play today um yeah I I definitely I definitely uh thought the opposite but um yeah uh but no once we got down uh I don’t know just it seems like there’s

Something wrong uh with this team uh just I don’t feel like and I didn’t have a chance uh so real quick uh so I didn’t make it to last postgame show so I didn’t give my chance get my chance to share my thoughts about the disaster that was losing to the Washington

Wizards oh man and uh uh you know all the coaching controversies that Tori talked about and went so well in depth on um but uh the uh man the coaching is just uh it’s worrisome man and I feel like the team for the first time

Is I mean I I thought it was just because chony was a young coach and inexperienced and stuff like that but it seems like they’re not executing what he wants and um and you just watched them play offense today and you just think like this can’t possibly be the offense that

Chony wants to run right where they’re not getting any good looks no one’s moving off ball they’re turning the ball over and throwing lazy passes uh like this can’t be what chony wants right um I mean short of you know we hope we hope not we hope it’s not what johy wants

Yeah but like so you know a few games ago it was oh I I told them to call timeout after the free throw and they didn’t so I just let sharp go you know and then yeah last game it was oh well the play wasn’t for JY but he got the

Ball and just went you know it’s like well at what point dude are you not like something’s wrong if these players can never execute what you want them to do on the court and I feel like go ahead no go ahead no I just I just feel like

We’re seeing that in like so those are the like micro examples but if we’re looking at it like in a macro example uh like the the whole offense it it just our schemes the sets We Run The the off ball movement or lack thereof uh the

Lack of moving the ball around uh the amount of iso heavy when you don’t really have good ISO players um like it doesn’t make any sense that this is our offense when we have the Personnel we have yeah a and it just it it makes no

Sense and we just continue to do this same things run the same basic crap and then no wonder we have points like we had in the second quarter where we score what 16 points or something like that um yeah and just completely go from a game that was very winnable um you know

Golden State’s probably already thinking about Christmas Day and all that kind of stuff to uh all of a sudden we’re getting blown out and uh it it just it baffles me how often it happens and how little responsibility Chanty takes for the offense looking this bad I’m glad I’m

Glad that you said that because that was what I was going to touch on with the responsibility thing you know going back to the Wizards game just real quick um you know in his postgame chony talked about how well the reason that they ran that play for

Grant um at the end there was that there are a lot of options out of that play and it had just gotten ant a dunk the option before but that’s a situation where Washington is giving you a two like it it it’s not it’s not your heavily contested type of possession you know

What I mean yeah so when it comes to plays like that when it comes to plays like you know the Shaden uh possession uh where he got called for the charge against the Warriors in which we have played them three out of the last what 17 games or 17 days I forget exactly

Which the NBA needs to clean that up I I I can’t stand that stuff even when it’s advantageous in your favor I just don’t think think teams should ever play each other that closely unless they’re in a playoff series but that’s a side see this is a sidebar Eric this is how we

Could go down a rabbit hole but I I agree with you I I would love to see more responsibility out of chony and more own ship of things because I just think that sets a good example and it trickles down to your team but if it’s I

Was just gonna let shayen figure that out it’s it’s much much different if it comes from a standpoint of I’m the head coach it you know at the end of the day I get the loss in the record book you know I’ve got to be better you know even

If it’s things that Chanty doesn’t believe per se from a team building standpoint and you know wrapping your arms around your young players like Shaden and not throwing him under the bus like Chanty taking that kind of ownership would be good to see in those kind of situations I felt like tonight I

Don’t know how you felt tonight just kind of felt like a pickup game to a certain extent this was a this was a workmanlike loss by the blade there weren’t necessarily any glaring decisions there obviously wasn’t a a last minute you know possession that we can dissect because this this game we

Just kind of got overwhelmed and never seemed to have any kind of adjustments that were going to get us back in the game but yeah I I’m glad that you touched on that with chony and you know when when the Blazers hire chony I was cool with it I didn’t

Think I mean I I can’t necessarily give you you a better name that at that time under those circumstances that I would have said we should have hired now obviously after the fact we could come up with a bunch of names but um I was willing to give chony a chance and even

In his first two seasons because of how they unfolded Dame’s injury in the first season and then in the second season Once our depth became a problem and guys started to go down and then Dame went out for a little bit and then the season

I mean it kind of got away from us a little bit but even at the trade deadline and the All-Star break like the team was still pretty close to fourth in the west yeah so you know if if certain things break differently the second half of the season last year could have been

Very different so last year started my concerns about Chanty and I’ve talked about this a little bit over rip city retro and how he came to be a coach in the first place and we can maybe unpack that if if you want me to or chat wants

To or whatever I I don’t want to regurgitate old talking points but this season has been the season where while I obviously will not ding him for a lack of depth a lack of Veteran experience even though you have some vets on the team but I mean you

Know what I mean but um so while I’m not going to ding him for that when we are in game and when we are competitive with teams and then you see kind of baffling decisions I don’t think any games are being thrown here right you know with any with any creative play

Calls or anything like that but and and again not to come on here and you know I would love to come on here and be like Steph vaugh and just and just have counter points and you know I I don’t see how Anthony Simons contributes to

Winning you know I would love to do that but I have to agree with you guys when when I agree with you and if I ever disagree with you I’ll tell you but I I have to agree in that this is this is an opportunity for Chanty to show what he’s

Made of from a scheme standpoint from a play calling standpoint late in games and you know we obviously have a media here that is very quick to well what can Terry do what can Neil do what can Chanty do what is Joe supposed to do like all of these things you know it

Trickles down in a franchise and then you’ve got Chanty say well I was going to let Shay try to figure it out like I I would just I think I think somebody who is at the helm of this thing being a little bit more responsible and and

Standing up and pounding the table and and saying not only do all of our guys need to be better but I need to be better too that would be great to see yeah I I also was okay with hiring chony um we’ve seen a lot of first year

Coaches uh do well uh you know whether it’s Nick nurse or Steve Kerr or you know there’s countless examples of that um Oka had a good first year before yeah that ended as Todd Keith says in chat wish udoka was our coach uh so yeah I don’t mind taking a chance

On upside but I mean it’s pretty clear I think by now that he’s not that upside guy that we were hoping for or he’s not the type of guy who’s going to overachieve with a roster or um get them to play a style that uh you know Works to their

Strengths um because and he was never he was never right for that job right he wasn’t hired for that job he was hired he was he was hired to quite frankly be a players coach come in be a different voice Coach Dave nerk CJ get the defense going yeah absolutely they they didn’t

Bring him in to reset the table and and you know rebuild and so on so forth so if but he with this year well yeah right right but but I’m just saying like it’s it’s one thing if you’re bringing this guy in for a purpose but you know at that particular time if

That was the the trajectory the franchise you might want to bring in a guy like I don’t know Kenny ainson or somebody like that to to set your culture like make sure you are a professional level basketball team inside and out every game you might lose but there’s not going to be

You know moments of you know where you’re where you’re really questioning the the decisionmaking of the coaching staff it’s more a talent situation yeah I I just I worry I worry one more thing I’m so sorry Eric sorry to interrupt you Chanty is kind of the guy before the guy

Right like that’s kind of the way that I’m looking at him now he’s the coach before the coach he could just not be a good coach well no no what I’m saying is he’s in in terms of the trajectory of the franchise in terms of trying to build this thing into a championship

Contender he might be the coach before that coach comes in right yeah the only question is how long does he get his fingerprints on the careers of scoot Shaden you know Kamar all of these young guys to the point to where when that next coach does come in he’s having to

Unravel some bad habits that have been learned from day one and and I know that’s really negative it’s Christmas time I’m so sorry chat but um you know those are just kind of some thoughts off the top of my head after watching this game which like you said there’s not a

Lot to say about this game tonight because it just kind of it just kind of was a Blog game there wasn’t a there wasn’t a lot of es and flows to this game once the Warriors took the lead well I feel like his uh coaching staff does

Not match up either like you need if you’re going to have a players coach that doesn’t really have good schemes and stuff like that I feel like he’s not he doesn’t have the right staff in there you need some tough-minded guys and some uh it feels like everyone is Yes Men or um

They’re all kind of nice butt kisser types you know know don’t want to step on anyone’s toes yeah I think we need a little bit more like just someone who’s going to show a little bit of tough love and that’s something that like uh because Dame you know every offseason

And multiple other players including Anthony uh work with Phil Beckner in the off seasons and that’s the one thing that uh Dame says about Phil is that he was the first person in his life that told him like you could be so much better than this like why why would you

Accept this being okay like every other coach is like oh Dam you’re so awesome you’re so awesome and he came in and said dude you’re you’re not maximizing your potential like and until you do um like I don’t want to hear any of this crap I’m not going to tell you that

You’re doing well cuz you’re you’re not putting in the time at this particular Junction you could stay after practice and shoot more on this day or whatever and until you do that like you’re never going to be the player you want to be and like good players elite players like

Dame will take that to heart and and as a challenge you know to get better and and Vanderpool Vanderpool too with I CJ yeah and the and players that will never be good enough to be uh elite players in the NBA will will turn it around and

Uh and like never they’ll they’ll just be like oh man what’s wrong like I my coach hates me you know like that kind of thing and there those type players will never make it in this league long term because uh their their mentality isn’t right so I do think you need that

Kind of at least one person on your coaching staff to be like that and to tell not just tell the players what they want to hear and then uh also when it comes to Chanty I keep thinking about this cuz outside of today’s game um we we kind of

Got off to a slow start at the very beginning and uh like we were down what seven or nine to nothing to the Wizards um yeah and multiple games this year were down a bunch early like the other team scores the first six to eight points and then we have to um basically

Call a timeout and and go from there but uh the problem is okay you could say this year it’s like a rebuilding team right like we’re we’re bad what do you want like we’re not going to win many games so who cares which is okay but yeah we’re saying the

Same thing all last year remember even with the good start the only problem we were having was or we had two problems basically the bench and the slow starts that didn’t make sense from games and it would it became a problem all last season even when we were trying to win

Before we started to tank that was like one of the main talking points was how are we going to fix these slow starts we’re having and then once again this season we’re having these slow starts and we have a decent enough starting lineup in my opinion especially you know

Shad’s not playing right now so we have like Malcolm Brogden who’s a vet Jeremy Grant who’s a vet DeAndre aton’s in what his sixth year anthon’s in his sixth year uh Shaden and Kamar is a rookie but he doesn’t really play like a rookie uh mhm

So why are we like why are we struggling so bad at starts of games um but then I look at last year and see the same problems with Josh Hart Jeremy Grant Yousef nkic uh anony Simons and Damen Lillard like we’re still having problems with starts of games and to

Me I don’t think there’s any way to interpret that other than this team is not prepared enough at the start of games uh because if they were things like oh we just missed our first few shots and the other team just made their first few shots over the

Course of Seasons those things would even out right right like like it’s gonna it’s gonna happen on a given night here there but yeah you could be as the most prepared team in the league but sometimes Steph Curry comes out and hits three threes at the beginning and a

Misses three open ones and you’re down n nothing like that’s unavoidable sometimes yeah but when it happens like constantly almost every game you know it’s a problem with the coaching staff yeah and you know to to those who might be thinking well what does this matter you

Know and I I thought Tori and Eric I thought you guys wanted us to get a high draft pick etc etc and like this is kind of like look when you kids when you get old like me okay you you might you might meet a woman and like she’s really hot but you

See her like maybe go off on a waiter or waitress or you know treat somebody poorly and you have to be able to project forward and go yeah for tonight it’s not a big deal but looking down the road there are going to be crucial moments in the future in which that is

Going to be a problem and that is what I feel like sometimes when I watch Chanty I’m like yes these decisions don’t really matter right now and quite frankly some of his decision-making might be improving our Lottery position by accident because like I said before I don’t think he’s tanking games or or

Trying to throw games or come out with a bad scheme or anything like that but like when I project forward hey if we’re if we’re better like like from a talent standpoint and we’re able to you know Eric stott’s teams were like this a lot they were pretty well

Configured um you know all things all things considered uh with Neil’s roster construction and so on so forth but that’s why they were so good during the regular season their their pieces fit pretty well together they were able to have a lot of regular season success but then when it came to

The playoffs it became relatively easy to zero in on what we do well when you’re seeing us night after night after night it’s one thing if it’s the second night of a back toback and you just played the Lakers you know the night before and then you’re blowing into

Portland to play the Blazers like Dam and CJ could go off on you and you’re gonna and you’re going to lose but um but I I just feel like when our talent level and when our players mature a little bit more and I’m not I’m not

Saying like five six years down the road I’m saying like you know scoot’s second year his third year Shaden third year his fourth year so on so forth there may be nights where from a talent standpoint we’re able to overwhelm teams but that doesn’t mean that when a pressure cooker

Situation comes up that having Chanty at place might hurt us and I felt like the franchise missed a golden opportunity and we’ve talked about this before the franchise missed a golden opportunity in 2018 to move off of Terry stots when you still had Dam and CJ young nerk young

And you could have brought in a very different type of coach that maybe could have made those pieces fit together a little bit better but they didn’t they held on to the wrong guy who was having regular season success they held on to him a little bit too long and then we

Find ourselves in the situation that we’re in today so again not to beat up on the guy I I and by the way I’m fully like ready to all of a sudden be proved wrong about chony say I was wrong I have no problem doing that there’s no you

Know Grudge here you know or anything like that I I I just you know I just get concerned with what we’re seeing and I try to extrapolate what we’re seeing to a winning environment and an environment where we’re actually winning quite a few games but when it

Comes to late game decisions and just overall preparedness do we have the right guy in place and and you know the first two seasons you give it a look and a little bit of a pass because the injuries and things that happen but this season and

Again again I I want to make very clear at least from where I’m coming from this is not a results based evaluation that I’m making it’s not about well we lost this game we won this game it’s just about in situations where we actually are being competitive all of a sudden are

We you know handing games to the other teams are we just you know tripping over ourselves from a decision-making standpoint and I obviously you can look at the players and say they’re young the players need to do better they’re going to learn you know they puppies out there

And look I got I got three puppies downstairs like they’re gonna make a mess from time to time but um at the same time you know I I think it’s fair to look at the coaching and it it doesn’t have to be Blasphemous to do so yeah I uh completely agree um I’ve

Seen a lot of arguments actually on Twitter not just with the um it’s not just with the Blazers but it’s in the NBA in general um about how uh I’ve seen a lot of people whining about how coaches get all the blame when teams lose and none of the credit when

They win and all this kind of stuff and outside of like three coaches in the NBA every fan base wants their coach fired and all this kind of stuff um okay but it’s like okay well and tor’s big on this too right uh it it’s argue the argument not like some

Sort of generic statement like you can’t criticize the coach or or you’re being too hard or giving too much credit or too less of credit like so when Tori comes on here last postgame show and says um chony shouldn’t have called a timeout or it shouldn’t have ran the same play

Two times in a row in the crunch time um or uh well I don’t know what other examples there are trying to remember what happened in the other games um but like so they I mean argue that against that like okay so say you disagree with that but don’t

Say like oh well you’re just not willing to give the coach any credit when things go well because that’s not what we’re saying either how many how many rings do you have Rich yeah like how many I have none thank you to Coleman schli for a $5

Like buying soda to have because I I just drink it at when I’m at home and stuff and I haven’t really ate like a lot better but you know I try not to buy a ton of junk food and stuff especially around the house and just uh you know

And then I got a new job that is a little more active and lot less at a desk doing paperwork and stuff so um nice and so uh I did I did it I did inspire you to have a Mountain Dew the other night and I felt really bad about

That oh no every once in a while it’s fine but anyways I got down to like in the 250s and I’ve been the last couple weeks I’ve been plateauing around 254 or so okay yeah basically lost like 35 pounds or so but then awesome I’ve lost like five

Pounds in the last uh two days so um the uh so for the first time since uh so in February I’ll have it’s been 20 years since I met my wife and uh I think I weighed like 235 24ish when I met her some somewhere around there

Felty and uh but I was like so through high school and stuff I was like 205 could never put on weight um gosh really rail thin right all through college pretty much too and then I started uh lifting weights pretty intensely like six days a week for like a year after I

Got out of college and I put on like 20 pounds of muscle it was just all like cut like a tank dude that was it was so awesome and then um yeah so then uh I mean I told the story story on this channel before but had something happen

To where uh my skull was fractured and uh oh that’s right and then um forgot about that couldn’t uh exercise for a while after that or lift weights and stuff so um I uh ended up and then you know as you get older and have a family

And stuff you don’t have as much time to play basketball for four hours every day like I was doing when I was little um and so uh I apologize for the volume I don’t know how to fix it um I have it turned up all the way I’m not sure um but anyways

Uh so um so yeah I it’s been like shortly after I met my wife wife uh or just her at the time um my I I’ve been like over 250 ever since then and so today was the first time in at least 15 probably closer to 17 or 18

Years that uh I’ve I stepped on a scale and it had under 250 on it so pretty St oh man lost 40 pounds over the past like 10 months or so not even really hard but yeah thanks man congrats that’s awesome but also uh to all the people who or not

All the people but I think it’s just one person maybe just a few but uh there’s a few people uh one person is just I I mean I I wouldn’t imagine just typing this out in comments but I guess it’s Anonymous over the internet but um this one guy always

No matter what he says he always has to mention how terrible my voice is and how nasly it is and stuff and so I apologize thank you thank you I apologize said it because I can’t do anything about it one but two it’s even worse when I’m sick

Guy who traded a paperclip and and just kept making trades until he ended up with a house like that kind of thing like like this should just be moving assets along with the exception of the Untouchable guys that we talked about the four guys um and this this should

Just be continuing to Tinker and trade and you know I I I just don’t want us to hang on to to guys for too long and you you know when Brogden went down with what was the first injury I think it was the hamstring or something

Somebody that that you know is going to take a good amount of shots going to be relied upon so on so forth a locker room leader all of those things okay all the intangible things that that brings if we did say we say we did the the 23 and under plan

Brogden and Grant on the team is there is there a is there a confidence Factor danger when it comes to these young players where having Jeremy around I’m just playing Devil’s Advocate yeah no I hear having having Jeremy around having Malcolm around gives these gives these

Young guys a little bit of a bridge to the Future where then in a year or two whatever the case may be depending on how they view Jeremy then it it can truly become their team versus the danger of it just okay screw it it’s just their team now like there’s not a

Lot of Oklahoma City Thunder with KD and Westbrook and James Harden examples out there that we can point to in terms of a young nucleus like that just taking off so is is there truly value to protecting these young guys a little bit by having those older

Guys on the team I’m just playing Devil’s Advocate there is value in having vets I think every team needs vets but who were Dame’s vets Mo Williams for a Year Ronnie price Earl Watson early in his career you know like those kind of guys those guys were on minimum contracts right and weren’t

Taking playing time away from Dame tonight you have Malcolm Brockton playing 37 minutes in a blow in a blowout that we lose by 20 points so none of the none of the starters played the last five minutes and he still played 30 37 minutes scoot he had four

Fouls but only plays 23 minutes okay you do not want a player like Malcolm Brogden as good as he is on this team hindering scoots minutes just pure and simple you do not want vets like that in my opinion what you want is vets that are on a minimum contract or make very

Little you know maybe the mid-level exception at the most that don’t even have to play most most games maybe in maybe in the Twilight of their career yeah like maybe what like Chris Paul’s doing on the The Warriors maybe like that’s the extent of it but I don’t

Think you want someone who’s like starting and playing 37 minutes over scoot only playing 23 uh like I I just I don’t see how that’s helpful to us long term other than hopefully someone watches Malcolm Brogden tonight from another team and is like oh he had 12

Assists or 17 and 12 or whatever he had and well and it’s and and let’s Also let’s be fair to those guys and in in saying this it’s also not fair to those guys like they’re still young and they they have their next you know I mean I

Know Jeremy just got this big extension but you know they have tons of uh mileage left on their careers where they have things that they want to achieve and things that they want to get done and they’re not going and and putting them in a position to sacrifice for the

Development of these young guys like that’s that’s hard to ask of guys that are just 28 and 29 and 30 when those are the years when a player should be in their physical prime they should be competing uh um you know trying to win at the highest level like that that’s a

Hard position to put those vets those particular vets not vets but like you were saying you know you can have some older vets but having vets that are still like in their in their Prime where physically mentally understanding the game knowing how to play that’s a tough position to put them

Into yep um I just I love it I love it I got the Eric Brandt y after after a long Soliloquy I love it I wanted it so badly and I got it well see like people are saying in chat like maybe they’re trying to get his trade value up like

Brog I yeah I oh oh they’re oh they’re trying to do that with Brogden chat do you also think they’re trying to do the same thing with Jeremy in terms of saying they have no interest in trading him I’m just curious what people will say I just anyway go ahead in my opinion

With brocken I mean people know who Brogden is right and the only possible thing that can change that is if he gets hurt um because if he gets hurt it’s much like Robert Williams he has no trade value and so right I don’t think playing him right now matters that much

If he’s like I was joking about him you know having 12 assists tonight but like no team’s going to be like oh Malcolm brogon can still play look at him uh like Blazers have shown he can still play he’s been hurt a little bit but he’s healthy right now I would not risk

I would not risk him getting hurt between now and the trade deadline playing him 37 minutes just to to what get a few extra points and assists Like That Matters to teams like that aren’t basing a vet like that on his whole body of work you know it’s not like it’s a

Vet that hasn’t had a chance and is trying you’re trying to maximize like thull for example right thull you want to maybe get more playing time to up his defensive stats and his see if his get more three-point attempts to show oh well it’s not just a 20 game sample size

Like last year now we have like an 80 game sample size later in the season um of him shooting the three well so he’s like a three actual three-point shooter now look at this when you give him the green light and put him in a good

Position to succeed um but like I don’t think the opinions on broen are going to change drastically other than him being injured and it changing drastically in a bad way for us yeah and the and you know now going to the flips side talking about the

Guard position like if you have a three guard rotation where you’re trying to figure things out maybe playing shading at the three in certain situations things like that but in terms of the load what I was talking about earlier like it not being fair on the young guys

To put them in that position in terms of that three guard lineup when you have Aunt who I think clearly has shown himself to be capable of being that workload kind of guy who is just going to get you a bucket you’re going to be

Able to depend on him for x amount of points a game like kind of that offensive centerpiece that you can build a lot of things around right now I I I don’t where I could see it with Jeremy in terms of the front Court I I I can’t

I I couldn’t justify any reason to not maximize Brogden and get the most that you can out of him in a trade and you’re also gonna get benefit because he’s he’s so good that he has to play right particularly if chony is trying to win games so we need to take this little

Tool away from chony so that he’s he’s more forced to play scoot more than 23 minutes well we had lineups tonight where it was we had scoot ant Brogden and then like Germany and do up in right and it’s like and of course that lineup gets torched defensively we have no Rim protection

And we have no like primary defenders in that lineup so uh like it’s just what are we doing like um and Eric Olson says if you trade away the Vets we will be the next Detroit won’t win to where it hurts f it um I mean I don’t know if you phrase

That quite how you wanted it but uh like I don’t know I like I said I’m not saying to get rid of all vets I’m saying the Vets you have should be lower price lesser good player vets and allowing your best players to Blossom it my opinion having good enough good players

Like Malcolm at positions where we’re already stack act in terms of our young development I mean our whole young core is based around our three guards um yeah so having a fourth guard means you have to play three of them more often than you want to um but we already talked

About this if if sharp has to play the three some you can get away with him playing it the three about 12 minutes a game with some creative you know substitutions and stuff and you know having someone go out early of the three guards and then uh

Maybe sending saving some time at the end to go three guards um but you need to have the right four or five with those three and uh I don’t know I think did you say did you say threesome yeah mind went to the gutter yeah well I live in Los Angeles

Were like 30o plays like what man once those happened it was over yeah we didn’t still have the lead or anything but no yeah go go ahead play so bad on the rebounds and it’s tough to you know you play a pretty good possession of defense and then don’t come up with the

Some deflating plays um but even you know all rebounds offensive re I mean we just they just they took it to us they really did and there nothing that you can really do about that I mean we we get 30 rebounds for the game oh wow they took it to us and

There’s nothing you can do about it there’s nothing you can do rich wow is that it it over no I just okay dude I can’t with that dude it’s there’s nothing we can do about it like we only had 30 rebounds there’s nothing we can do about

It you know when the when these guys broke in my house and just started taking my food I mean I what I mean there’s pretty much nothing you can do about it you know just got to just gota take it really play play on I dude what did we talk about earlier

Of locking into what we was trying to do defensively which did it got us off to to a good start um and we just couldn’t sustain you know we couldn’t sustain that team they just kept wearing on you kept wearing on you kept getting rebounds kept getting put backs and it was just

Uh it was tough and then we did have they did have we I mean turn I mean Eric listen it’s it s sustaining it for 10 minutes is understandable but Eric like that next 38 minutes is really tricky it it’s so hard it’s so hard okay go ahead I’m sorry what I

Wanted to look up something real quick but okay they only had 13 offensive rebounds I mean that’s a lot but not like who they yeah wait they Golden State had 13 offs of rebounds yeah but a couple a couple of those were were like on on one

Possession they got like three cracks at it so I mean that’s like you know on two possessions it’s like four right there so you’re already down to nine so I mean it really like them crashing the boards like that yeah it hurt you know on a few possessions but

It’s not like it was the overriding reason but anyway go ahead yeah also when the team shoots a lot of long threes uh the ball comes off long a lot so you might want to play we I mean we turned them over I think 13 times at the half but only for seven

Points you know so um we got to be do a better job but when we do get turnovers we got to be able to convert you know those are big opportunities um for us and also it’s a deflating play for them so uh just it wasn’t our best

Night hey coach um scoot had three steals tonight um obviously took turns guard starting some pretty Dynamic guards what do you think his potential is on on the defensive end oh I think he’s going to be uh when he when he learns you know how aggressive he could

Be at different points of the games he’s an aggressive Defender um he’s a tenacious Defender he’s going to be an elite defender in this in this league um but that takes a while because one he’s playing against most of these players for the first time in his

This is not a situation where the Blazers are going to rattle off 13 straight and all of a sudden be in the hunt for the playin or anything like that like this is not that kind of season um and if you if you squinted you could have seen how pieces could have

Fit together to do that I know that you were very optimistic about that before the season started um but yeah I mean I I I think there is still good things to look for watching this team going forward and things that will illuminate what level of success the

I end up after I sent that message just passing out I wake up I look at my TV Rich there’s 7.8 seconds left we’re down one point and they’re reviewing the the thy steel SL foul or whatever um okay and so like I’m like wow we’re it’s like a

Onepoint game or whatever and you know the parts I saw the first half we were down double digits to the Wizards like or down every game double digits um so uh I was so sick that I didn’t even make it I didn’t even find out what happened

Till the next day cuz like I uh oh my gosh like 7.8 seconds left and I couldn’t even couldn’t even couldn’t even watch watch the screen like I was trying so hard to stay awake and I couldn’t um but anyways so I went back and uh actually just finished watching the game

This morning I’d watched uh we watched the first half and then uh watched um the fourth quarter this morning okay and as I was watching CU I watched uh so the next morning at work uh I watched tor’s uh post game show uh solo show and so

Like I had I was was watching it with everything he was talking about on my mind um and and that kind of stuff so I was thinking about uh you know what he was saying about DeAndre gon’s deandre’s offensive rebounding and stuff like that uh so I was like watching for like him

Making some good plays and stuff and he did have some good offensive rebounds but MH there were at least four I think five offensive rebounds by DeAndre Aon where he got a pass right around the hoop and missed an easy Layin and just happened to get his own rebound on that play

Because he missed it like right off the front of the rim or something it came right back to him so that was like half of his rebounds right there and then another couple of those offensive rebounds the old Moses the old Moses Malone rebounds yeah and then then a

Couple other ones were uh two of them were tamani and one of them was Jabari uh basically crashing the board so hard that it the ball got tipped back or uh like it wasn’t him like crashing the boards the ball just got like like there

Was a Scramble for the ball and it just happened to go to DeAndre so I I’m not trying to say anything for either side of your arguments but I do think the 10 offensive rebounds is a little a little misleading U from last game because a lot of them

Were uh like cuz if you count his 10 offensive rebounds then you can’t really count his points I guess because a lot of those should have like he should have been much more efficient with it than he was it’s it’s kind of you know like every every story tells a I mean every

Game tells a story right so it’s like if you went back and looked at any of those Seasons that Russell Westbrook averaged a triple double and watched how they how they worked his rebounds to where Stephen Adams like on a free throw on free throws Stephen Adams would just basically clear out

Everybody and let Russ come in and get the rebound because nobody else is around uh yeah so you know are those people say like stocked and assist if you go back and look like how many of them were oh my gosh yeah where you know a guy

Stockton passes the ball a guy runs three steps takes a dribble a pump fake and then takes the shot and they say Jeff horc from Stockton well who was that last year there was someone chat help me out here uh just help me out here and and uh

There was a player last year someone did a huge thread on it about his stats home and away or something and the you know the answer and do you know the answer or you don’t really know the answer I can’t remember who it was do you remember oh

Okay no no I’m I don’t there was a player that his stats were like drastically different oh yeah was was it jiren Jackson like his blocks they were counting blocks for him at home differently than they were on the road or so so deflections were getting

Counted as or like like if a person missed a shot or something like they would say he got it’s because he got a piece of it or something you know or or he changed a shot and they just went ahead and said he emotionally blocked it

Illustrator put out and then the Blazers which was really cool which a lot of other franch we were we were so lucky you guys to have had return to rip city Running Down a Dream make it happen those three yearbook videos that were put out by the Blazers in 99192 and if

You haven’t watched them please go watch them there’s so much fun they still really hold up today they’re great they’re great fun to watch and like my what I wanted more than anything growing up was I I want to see the Blazers win the NBA championship I want that

Championship t-shirt I want that Championship hat and I want that Sports Illustrated commemorative championship video and um oh I’m not no if I ever get that when when Drexler went on to Houston and won the title I did purchase the packet for the Rockets because

Drexler won but it it was in no way shape or form the same I never wore the Hat I never wore the shirt I watched the video the video was cool um and I was so thrilled for Drexler that he won a title but I just remember being like yeah but
