Remember you guys remember in the off season for those of you guys who have been around that long you guys remember I was not high on this roster I I was critical of this roster in the off season I obviously wasn’t critical enough let me tell you guys what

Happened in this game against the Brooklyn Nets the Showcase is how bad the Rost construction is and again like I said just a few minutes ago there there was probably six or seven players on this team when I say so like for example I I tweeted out that K

Cunningham is asked to make a gourmet meal out of the garbage that’s in my trash can in the corner of the room and it’s unfair to him when I say that that is not talking about the players in and of of themselves I’m not talking about

That I’m talking about the the the TR the the the pile of trash that’s been assembled you’ve taken like like yeah you might take what is it let’s you know let’s say say you take some ketchup and some mustard and you take some a bunch

Of a bunch of random stuff yeah on its own with with this you know with a burger it might taste good you know you take some ketchup with that it might taste good but if you take some ketchup and start squiring on some cereal and then you pour some water in the cereal

And then instead of pouring sugar in it you pour some flour in it like all that stuff may do some good things with a different type of you know stuff going with it but with this combination combination is basically a pile of trash that’s what I mean I’m not going at the

Individual players themselves just combine it’s it’s a pile of trash okay it’s a pile of of just trash and that’s what I mean it’s more it’s a shot at the front office and their construction not at the individual players themselves just want to get that out the way in

Case any players happen to listen or see what I said again it’s not a shot at any specific players really it’s it’s just a combin you guys get what I’m saying you guys get the the the the the you know you guys get what I’m saying anyways I’m I’m I’m I’m going all

Over the place anyways in this game assar Thompson this is the first example assar Thompson only played eight minutes assar Thompson plays eight minutes in this game you want to know why assar Thompson played eight minutes in this game you want to know why assar Thompson is struggling to find consistent minutes

Now it’s because this roster was assembled in a way that it makes it damn near impossible now actually let me not say damn near impossible because you could still do it it probably just wouldn’t work well enough to where a coach would keep doing it because of the

Way the rosters are assembled but the roster assembled so badly that you it’s almost impossible to put a lineup on the floor that uses assar Thompson correctly remember a few weeks ago I believe it was like two weeks ago Monty Williams came out and said they’re going to start

Using assar Thompson more as a screen enroller that happened for all two reps in that game it happened maybe twice it worked both times we haven’t seen it damn since we we we haven’t seen it I don’t think we’ve seen it one time since then we haven’t seen it at all you want

To know why because the Pistons don’t have enough spacing to do it around him you can’t put aaur Thompson on the floor with Isaiah Stewart and Jaylen durren and then say that you’re gonna run pick and roll with with assar Thompson because then he’s just gonna be rolling

Into Isaiah Stewart and Jaylen dur and even if you want to spot Isaiah Stewart up we’ve talked about it numerous times in this podcast he’s just not a good enough shooter I said it in the offseason I said it last year I said it

Two years ago Stu is never going to be a good enough shooter at a high enough volume and demand the type of gravity where defenses are going to say we’d rather th we’d rather this guy do something and give St a three-point shot no it’s never going to be that it’s

Always going to be we’d rather give St this three-point shot than anything else on the floor that’s what’s going to be every time so you can’t put a functional lineup that allows assar to really play the way he want you could play him in the pick and rooll in the dho game

Running him off some Zoom AC like you can’t you can’t do any of that stuff with assar let me say you can’t you can’t but it probably won’t work at a high enough clip to where a coach will want to continue to do it because the fit is

To run the offense but damn it he can get to the basket and generate Rim pressure and kick out that’s one of the best things about him they’re just not even using his versatile offensive skill set yeah he can’t shoot just because you can’t shoot doesn’t mean you have any

Kind of you don’t have anything else to bring to the offense he’s a versatile offensive player and do not use them any type of way and I 10% of that blame I’d say go on Monty 90% of it I think goes directly to the roster construction because if they actually had some dudes

That could space the damn floor and some bigs that maybe could space the floor they could do some more stuff with them I definitely feel like Monty could use them better but I definitely also understand Monty’s point and I can definitely see his point of view that

Man it’s just hard for me to get to do that it’s gonna be tough for me to do it with the roster I have so that’s the first reason or the first example second example right here buam bdam he was supposed to come back and be the

Piston savior why because he spaces the floor what did I tell you guys the entire time bu was out I said he may help the offense but he is so bad defensively that it may it will weigh out and there is an argument that it actually will weigh out negatively not

Just evenly it will Ray out negatively because he’ll give up more buckets on the defensive end than he will on the offensive end what did you see at the end of this game when K Cunningham scored on back to back to back to back to back possession when K Cunningham was doing literally

Everything he possibly could do to W the Pistons to a win in the final three minutes step back three driving layup and one another driving layup crossover taking his ankles on a heesy cross that was just filthy as hell on his way to 41 points what was happening the Brooklyn

Nets on the end end of the floor was attacking Boon bonovich every single possession I’m not joking when I say that they it was every single possession you don’t believe me go we watch the game it was every possession they were attacking buan bonovich so while Kate

Cunningham is having to work his ass off on the offensive end to get every bucket he has to get the Brooklyn Nets are basically at target practice and taking five shots for him shooting around the basket because they were just going after it was literally ISO boan and they

Were beating boan to the rim and it was either resulting in layups drawn fouls because B couldn’t stay in front of him so he fouled him he ended up fouling out this game I wonder why or thirdly someone had to rotate and help and then you have Dorian FY Smith wide open in

The corner hitting a three like that’s what was happening that’s what was happening so the Piston savior was a guy who can bring some offense obviously but can’t bring you anything on defense so honestly probably is a net negative nonetheless nonetheless you want to hear the third example of how bad this roster

Construction is Monty Williams noticed this and this is the thing this is Monty is the coach of a 27 straight losing record team okay he just like what I said in the first thing with Weaver and tellum and everyone else it’s going to be hard for

Him to tell me why he deserves to keep his job but the reason why I said Monte will probably be fine somewhere else when he eventually comes back to coaching when they eventually do fire him at some point or you know I don’t want to disrespect what he did

Beforehand it’s because I know Monty sees these things I I know Monty sees what I’m seeing because if he didn’t he wouldn’t have subbed in Kevin Knox and star Thompson for 16 seconds he subd demin the fourth quarter for buan and Jane Ivy coming out of a timeout because

He saw the Brooklyn NS were just attacking them every time down the down on the defensive end and his he knew that he had to get them out of there or they just weren’t going to have a chance to stop them defensively what happened they immediately filed in the defensive

End offensively they couldn’t hold up so he had to get buam back in really look I don’t think Monty’s done a great job and again like I said being a coach of a 27 straight lost team it’s hard for you to the reason that you should keep your job

He should keep his job and he get to pass at all that’s not what I’m saying at all but I know for a fact he’s seeing the things I’m talking about because every now and then he does something he sees how if he does one thing it just

Opens up another hole in in the ship he he knows it and he just knows that there’s really it’s just pck his poison at that point and honestly I agree with him at this with what he did at the end of the game if you have to pick your

Poison the only the poison you have to pick is the one that makes it possible for your franchise start to go off and keep you in the game I mean that’s the only one you can do and that’s bring spacing to the floor it’s either that or

Hope that you have a good enough defense which they don’t they don’t if they do this lineup by the way even if they do go defensive line they don’t have good enough defense they stop them so much on the on that end that it creates open uh
