LMA’s advice to Wemby
"[Victor Wembanyama] is so skilled. I would just break his sh*t down… Get a move that if it's the 4th quarter, you're gonna go to it. My sh*t was always the fade… It helps you stop thinking so much."

yeah I think one of wemby’s biggest problems is that he wants to do everything but the greats didn’t master everything but everything they did do they were masters at
I don’t think Wemby has to figure that all out himself at least. Pop said the first quarter of this season is figuring out what Wemby is good and not good at.
So hopefully they have somewhat of an answer by now and put him in a position so he can consistently get to the spots that he’s the best at.
so 1 legged 3pt it is
I need the whole podcast link!
It’s gonna take some time for Wemby to truly figure out what his go-to move is but LMA is right. Once he’s played everyone there is to play and he recognizes every switch and coverage there is, he can spam that move and it’ll be unguardable.
Bring back the sky hook. People wouldn’t be able to block that shit with a ladder.
I’m thinking a bank shot. Would look nice ngl
Timmy needs to teach him the face up bank shot. That shot would be unstoppable with his height, and then he could play off it with a pump fake.
“He can also go “AAAAAAAYYY!” when he does it. It worked for me, you know?”
LA’s advice is perfect! That’s the stuff we’re missing from not having vets on the team.
Wemby is fine for now, he doesn’t need a “go-to” move yet. He is incredibly talented with a lot of different moves but his major improvements this season can just be:
1. hitting open threes and
2. finishing any and all passes around the rim with an emphatic slam dunk!
These face-up moves, rip-thrus, step backs, fadeaways, crossovers, body-contorting floaters can all wait for the off-season to add in development. This first year is about fundamentals and conditioning to avoid that Luka load problem in the early years.
That’s actually reasonable and sound advice.
OF course later in his career he will want more than “one move” …. but for now? Hell yeah.
Need to see him as a roller in this point of his career and work from it to pick his favorite spot to take his go to perimeter shot.
Obvious answer is cutting lobs and post up skyhooks. Wemby’s got great instincts around the basket and a skyhook release point of 30,000 ft ain’t getting blocked
