here in colorado, many dog owners do not leash their dogs in public. it’s rude and leads to stuff like this happening. if you own a dog, society trusts you to control your pet properly, but this mindset is getting less and less popular. i feel bad for ag, dog bites are no joke.

I got bit by a pitbull in probably the best possible way too get but (right under the ass cheek, only skin level penetration and bruising). It and the rabbies shots were enough to make me afraid of dogs for the rest of my life.
I have to know a dog and trust the owner for awhile before I can pet a dog. I stay the fuck away from pitbull. I cross the street when I see a pitbull.

To people freaking out over 21 stitches, the number of stitches doesn’t determine how bad it is. I had 20 stitches for a 1-inch gash in my forehead, my brother had over 65 when he got his face grabbed by a dog.
i.e., he could have just gotten his lip pierced and needed 20 stitches. It’s not like there is a rule where it’s 2 stitches per inch and this dude is gonna be looking like Al Capone.

Possible pro tip: If a dog leaps up to bite your arm, try to lift it up and remove its base. It will continue to bite down and hold on but won’t be able to bite you again.
I was bit above the elbow while jogging by a large husky. And with the tactic above, I managed to carry the dog back to its owner. Suffered only the initial bite, but the arm went completely numb post adrenaline kick…no stitches though.
