The Pistons Are The Biggest Disaster In NBA History.

The Pistons Are The Biggest Disaster In NBA History.

If you’re a basketball fan then surely you’ve heard about the massive record that just got broken and if you haven’t then you must be living under a rock the record in question isn’t one to be celebrated at all though because it’s a benchmark of losing the likes of which

We have never seen before and the team suffering to this extreme is of course the Detroit Pistons now I know you all clicked onto this video because of the title being about the complete disaster that the Detroit Pistons are and while the historic losing streak is definitely

The icing on the cake it’s actually not the sole reason why I’m discussing this because this has been a topic that has been in my notes for weeks now to make a video about the timing just happens to be perfect for it at the moment in the

Video we are of course going to be discussing the fact that in my humble opinion the Detroit Pistons are the biggest disaster the NBA has ever seen how they got to this point and what their future could possibly hold before we start though it turns out a good

Amount of you watching right now aren’t even subscrib subcribe to the channel so if you enjoy the content consider hitting the Subscribe Button as not only does it help out a ton but it also very much appreciate it now with that being said let’s begin I know a lot of you

Watching this video may be new fans who don’t remember these days but the Pistons actually used to be a juggernaut in the NBA in the mid 2000s between 2003 and 2008 they made the Conference Finals all six of those years they went to the NBA finals in both 2004 and 2005 and

They took the title home in 2004 cementing themselves in history as a group that went down as Champions this was a team built on tough-nosed defense meant to wear down their opposition with their physicality and their ability to win with hustle and fiery competitiveness basically the kind of

Group that makes fans fall in love with them hell they were the original obstacle standing in LeBron James Way which is both a testament to how good they were at the time and how long LeBron James has been a dominant Force they had an identity that struck fear

Into their opposition every night and you knew exactly what you were getting from them for over half a decade that identity has been completely lost to time though and now we’re left with a group without any discernable strength four years into a rebuild with no light

At the end of the tunnel so how exactly did we get to this point from 2010 onward the Pistons have made the playoffs just two times with their most recent appearance coming in 2019 after that there rebuild truly began especially after Blake Griffin their best player at the time suffered yet

Another knee injury when a team shifts their focus to the Future the draft becomes their best friend and building through the draft is historically a pretty good way to establish a new culture and form a group that can be competitive for years just look at a team like the current Oklahoma City

Thunder or even the emerging Orlando Magic in the 2019 draft to set the tone for their rebuilding future the Pistons had the 15th pick and with it they selected seu dumb Boya dumb Boya was a completely raw Prospect at the time but he was a natural athlete at 6’8 with

Intriguing length and of course this was when everyone was thinking that they could turn these guys into the next yanis dumo but the problem with that line of thinking is that for every Yannis that emerges there are 100 guys like Dum booya who just never come close to reaching that potential seu would

Only last two seasons in Detroit before being traded away for pennies on the dollar because he was simply never able to put his tools properly to work on the basketball court he was a terrible shooter he didn’t have any playmaking instincts and while he did occasionally show promise on the defensive end it

Wasn’t nearly often enough to justify the fact that they were playing four on five on offense with him out there and he is already completely out of the league flaming out after just three seasons not exactly the kind of start to a rebuild you would hope for surely it’s

Okay though because the next year in 2020 the Pistons finished with a bottom five record in a draft class that included lamelo ball Anthony Edwards and Tyrese halberton but then almost as a way of foreshadowing their poor luck the Pistons got bumped down to the seventh

Pick and on draft night the player that they selected ended up being Killian Hayes who has had a to put it l disappointing NBA career thus far if I’m being real though Hayes has been one of the biggest draft busts of The Last 5 Years and through four seasons

Has been one of the worst Shooters on the basketball court in the entire league never once shooting better than 30% from Deep he’s been a horrific finisher at The Rim he’s a non-factor on defense and the admittedly impressive flashes as a passer that he has shown

Does not make up for the other parts of his game that are glaring negatives in The Following season a stroke of luck finally came their way as they landed the number one pick in the 2021 NBA draft which they used to select Kade Cunningham him marking the point that

They finally found a player worthy of building around he put together a pretty strong rookie season where he really came on at the end of the year carried that momentum into year two looking even better and then suffered a season-ending injury just 12 games in that was

Supposed to be the year that the team’s core really started building chemistry together on the court and it was immediately cut short by awful injury luck the 2022 NBA draft was equally unkind to the Pistons because despite having a bottom three record in the league that year they got bumped down to

The fifth pick from the lottery and in a draft class stacked at the top they missed out on guys like Paulo banero Chad holgren Keegan Murray and Jabari Smith and selected instead Jaden Ivy who was available at five with Kate Cunningham set to lead the team as their

Lead guard the combination of fit and need made this a pretty questionable pick because because Ivy’s best attributes require the ball to be in his hands more as he’s a guard with Incredible speed in the open court and can make plays when he gets to push the

Pace that’s just not something that was ever very realistic to be paired with Cade Cunningham and the fact that iy was never a very good shooter is now contributing to the awful floor spacing that the Pistons have which I will touch on later in the video immediately after

This pick Benedict Maan and Shaden sharp were picked and I definitely feel as though both of those players would have been better fits for what the Pistons needed at the time luckily Detroit did trade for Jaylen durren during that same draft who was selected 13th overall

Because he has shown all of the makings of a stud starting center in the league and is one of the very few bright spots currently on this Pistons roster then in this year’s draft after finishing with the worst record in the whole League last year they once again got shafted by

The lottery Big time Landing the fifth pick missing out on Victor wanyama and instead taking assar Thompson there who has definitely looked incredibly good defensively but has a long way to go before he’s a positive player on the offensive end and that honestly summarizes the entire Pistons rebuilding

Saga they’ve been so bad for so long hoping to find a savior in the draft they’ve continuously gotten the short end of the stick in the draft lottery the one time they didn’t get shafted they land a stud in Kate Cunningham but then went on to do everything in their

Power to make his life difficult and on top of it all their injury luck has been a nightmare I haven’t even touched on the moves they’ve made outside of the draft yet which brings me to my next point if I could summarize the Pistons game plan outside of the draft it would

Be to try to buy low on prospects that flamed out elsewhere hoping they could find a gem by giving them a second chance for example Marvin Bagley was the second overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft never at any point performed like a player worth that kind of draft

Capital in Sacramento Detroit traded for him and now he is solidifying the fact that he is at best a backup center they did the same thing with another former number two overall pick in the draft James wisman who could never live up to the hype in Golden state so they traded

For him trying to uncover the talent that He was hyped up to have he still has not been very good in Detroit because he just doesn’t have the defensive instincts needed from a modern-day Center and now he’s barely even a backup center in the games that Jaylen Duren is healthy for regarding

Free agent signings the Piston’s biggest signing in this time has been Buon bogdanovich who has basically just taken the money and used the opportunity to build up his own value to potentially be traded to a contender down the line as he is always in trade rumors and he’s

Also been the team’s only reliable shooting threat which sounds like an exaggeration but it’s really not of the top 10 players in the Pistons rotation minutes wise bogdanovic is the only player shooting the ball efficiently from three on a reasonable volume of attempts every other player is either

Shooting below League average or just not taking that many threes in general and the complete lack of spacing plays a big part in why they have lost as many games as they have and also don’t even look like they can improve moving forward tying it all together now the

Pistons have some Ed themselves as the biggest disaster in NBA history losing more consecutive games in a row for a lot of reasons they’ve whiffed big time on about half of their lottery picks they’ve only made one single notable signing in a three-year span they’ve continued to take chances on prospects

That flamed out elsewhere expecting to be able to fix them injuries have hampered them at inopportune times and the talent they do have just doesn’t really fit well together from a team building perspective when you’ve been rebuilding for as long as they have you’re supposed to be close to a

Breakthrough to get yourself back in playoff contention but the Pistons are further away from that now than they were when they started and there’s no real end in sight they need drastic change and they need them now whether that be overhauling the entire front office that got them into this mess the

Owner selling the team to a group that actually cares about the success of the franchise or anything equally as extreme even even if the Pistons hadn’t just broken the record for most losses in a row these issues would still be plaguing them and a completely different approach is desperately needed and with that

Being said that’s all I have for you today make sure to like the video subscribe to the channel and comment down below what you think the Pistons need to do to turn this ship around thanks for watching and I’ll see you all next time

In this video we discuss how the Detroit Pistons have become the most dysfunctional disaster the NBA has ever seen and what happened to get them to this point…

  1. it sucks that Cade is at the front of everyone of these pictures. he has played like an all star the last 10 games. It should be Montys face or the GM or Owner

  2. Bad coaching, bad roster construction, poor effort, poor defense, poor offense

Too many problems. My high school team was like this lol

  3. Wanna know whats crazy? If things keep going like this or get worse, Cade is probably gonna get fed up and try to get outta detroit. But the issue with that is that people will call him a traitor for ditching the team that drafted him. But if he stays, he will go down as a part of one of the worst performances by an nba team in history. Its a lose-lose for Cade.

  4. 😂😂😂and this is the same team you were glazing in 2022 when they picked Jaden Ivey at 5 after the Kings took "bust" Keegan Murray at 4…

When are you gonna realize that mixtape menacing doesnt translate to wins ?

  5. A TEAM WITH CADE CUNNINGHAM .. JADEN IVEY .. JALEN DUREN .. BOGDONOVIC .. A THOMPSON SHOULD NOT LOSE 20+ GAMES IN A ROW .. THE VANCOUVER GRIZZLIES .. AND CHARLOTTE BOBCATS HAD WAY LESS TALENTED TEAMS ..

  6. I'm sorry but losing this many games in a row is wild, especially in today's NBA where everyone has talent on every team.

  7. Why does Bog end up on historically bad teams lol. He has got to be cursed or somrthing cause it keeps happening 😂.

  8. This team needs competent management. Everything here is bad decision making on managements part.

  9. How do you talk about the history of the Pistons and not talk about the Bad Boys? Generation Z or millennial little biatch?

  10. Killian Hayes is not a non factor on defense. His defense his actually whats keeping him on the court and also why other teams would want him

  11. I can finally wear my Gerald Wallace Bobcats Jersey without being ashamed or having someone say that he was part of the worst team in the NBA ever! It's about damn time.😂

  12. Other teams are better run these days. The standards are getting higher, so those that can't keep up really stand out.

  13. They're not the worst disaster of all time. Their roster still has solid pieces and potential. They were missing two of their top 4 players for most of this season so far. Duren played only half the season so far, and Bojan a third of the season. It's not out of the realm of possibility that had we had those guys during our losing streak, they would've probably got 1 or 2 wins somewhere in there at least. They got a new coach who has to figure the team out so a bad start is pretty expected. They've also had games that were close, just had some unlucky streaks closing out games and some questionable coaching decisions. Not having that many proven veterans is also a reason they're struggling I'd say. Once the streak reached 15-20, you can tell a lot of the team felt deflated and frustrated, I feel like some vets might help with that.

Comparing their roster to the Bobcats of 11-12 or the 10-11 Cavs and I think it's pretty Knight and Daye imo. I've been a Pistons fan since that '04 season when I first started watching, and I would much much rather be where we are now than the entirety of the 2010s Pistons. This is so much better than the Charlie V/Ben Gordon era…

  14. The draft lottery is the dumbest shit ever man needs to go idgaf about the tanking shit the fact my team keeps getting screwed man we are bad but how can we really get better I know you can strike gold at other picks but we needed one of those bigs the past few years smh

  15. Why not bring in a coach that will have them run a system offense like Denver? It seems to work when teams try it. They aren’t a disaster, they are going through growing pains. I think it takes a lot of character to deal with losing and working together when your fans boo you and say harsh things

  16. I don’t think Killian Hayes has a future here but his Defense is exactly why he’s on the court. He can’t shoot but his vision and defense is solid. He’s only 22 as well he can still develop but not in Today’s NBA unless he’s on the bench and develops a good consistent mid range. Forget about 3s

  17. By the grace of God they will win one of the next 2 games to end the losing streak…Amen.😢😅❤

  18. Pistons rebuild didn’t start until they decided to move on from Blake Griffin and D-Rose during the 2020-2021 season. Sekou was under a whole different administration and the 3 picks in 2020 were brought in to do a two timeline thing with Griffin. Rather than trading their players for assets in the 2020 off season, they went out and got vets Grant, Plumlee and Wright to help Griffin make the playoffs.

It’s on Gores. Not hiring a GM in 2019 after SVG, not allowing a full rebuild in 2020 before people knew Blake was shot, getting involved in the coaching search this summer. Going back even further, he didn’t fire Dumars in 2013 – instead he gave an ultimatum of making the playoffs or else. Dumars signed Josh Smith and traded Brandon Knight and Kris Middleton for Brandon Jennings, killing the future. Then SVG turned over this roster and got the team back in the playoffs. He whiffed on multiple drafts but won almost every trade until Gores stepped in and forced a trade for Griffin.

If you’re going to tell a story, tell it in the proper context.
