Frank Robinson, who was a mediocre manager later in life, was the first person win MVP awards in both the American and National League. He famously crowded the plate and dared pitchers to throw inside and then he’d open up with his front foot and crush everything with power.

McClymonds HS in Oakland . Paul Silas and Ron Dellums wentto it, too. Incredible part of postwar Bay Area history, with the massive black migration to Oakland the 30s and 40s from the south,especially Louisiana and Mississippi . The culture in that school and that city in the 50s must have been incredible.
