SHOCKING Lonzo Ball Update…

SHOCKING Lonzo Ball Update…

Some great news has come along our way as the New Year’s just around the corner Lonzo ball who’s been out with an injury for so long now has resumed physical activities and we’re going to get into the details of that in this episode of Bull’s digest I’m your host Joey Mercer

And before we get into it there today I just want to say that about 88% of you that watch these videos are not subscribed so if you aren’t already subscribe to the channel make sure to go down below hit the Subscribe button turn on the bell for notifications and

Everything you need to know about the Chicago Bulls will be right here for you so without further Ado let me get into the topic of today and that is Lonzo returning soon so there are some speculations there was word before the season maybe he be back January we had

The same thing happened to us at the start of last year it seemed like January was a timetable and he’s basically been put on Ice ever since then however a tweet has recently come out as of just yesterday from KC Johnson that really sparked my interest about Lonzo ball returning sometime soon it

Says Billy Donovan said Lonzo ball was in town last week and his optimism for return remains intact Donovan said hopefully in January he’ll start running the Bulls have ruled ball out for the season and January will Mark two years since his last NBA game this is big news usually it

Wouldn’t be much of any news if it was any other NBA player but we haven’t heard anything really besides just rumors with Lonzo ball this is straight from Billy Donovan’s mouth from what he is saying that he had a conversation with Lonzo ball and now we’re hearing

That he is really trying to ramp up and get ready for next season which is huge that really takes a load off of the Chicago Bulls right now and if he is going to be anywhere near the player he was two seasons ago that is a massive

Massive gain for the Chicago Bulls now the article that we saw on this was from CBS Sports and we’re going to get into that right away it said Lonzo ball appears to be taking a step in the right direction towards playing again the Chicago Bulls guard has not played since

2021-22 because of a persisting knee injury however he’s now been cleared to resume running now that he’s no longer in pain according to a report from the Chicago Tribune everything they’ve done in terms of progressing him he’s handled very well Bulls head coach Billy Doan said the pain that he was experiencing

Was causing the setback I think has been eliminated in terms of what he’s doing now but he hasn’t run the next progression for him will start be to start running and that will be here in January so big news coming from head coach Billy Donovan and lots of optimism

For us Bulls fans who have really struggled at the point guard position since lonzo’s gone down and we haven’t found a guarantee fit Kobe white has been the closest thing to that this season but the question is is he a starting C ber point guard or is he

Better suited at the shooting guard position is what remains to be seen where he’s such a great off thee catch shooter the next thing that we saw was per the report ball has since returned to Chicago to develop a plan in conjunction with both staff in order to

Help facilitate his potential return to the court it has been a tumultuous two plus years for the 66 guard initially ball underwent surgery to repair a torn left miniscus sometime between late January and early February of 2022 the surgery stemmed from an injury suffered earlier on January 14th against the

Warriors his last game played his initial timetable following the procedure was 6 to 8 weeks though in his attempt to ramp up ahead of a return he continued to suffer discomfort as a result ball was shut down for the remainder of the Season having just played 35 games ball then underwent to

Second surgery in September 2022 this time an arthoscopic debridment on the same knee at this time he was given a re-evaluation timetable of 4 to 6 weeks in a mirror following his first surgery ball continued to experience discomfort when attempting to perform basketball related activities by February of 2023

He was ruled out for the remainder of the Season several weeks later ball underwent a third surgery on his knee in March so of course it’s been nothing but discomfort and surgeries for Lonzo ball I mean it seems like there will be a short timetable with lots of optimism

And then suddenly he gets shut down once again there’s lots of Hope and hope for me here personally that when he starts to run again in January things go smoothly and he can finally resume on court activities and be ready for the start of next season I’m sure Lonzo ball

Uh does not want to be away from the NBA or basketball when he was on Pace to become such a great player and even potentially an all defensive candidate type of player that is exactly what you want on any team and he seemed like the perfect perfect point guard to putting a

Starting lineup for almost any team in the league it’s important to also note that Lonzo ball it is really not the player that was thought to be drafted it it seems as if he’s even better than that on the defensive end the playmaking wasn’t quite as good as it was but he is

Still very good and making those stretch long passes and seeing people where you probably wouldn’t see them that often his three-point shooting when he came to League he had to really adjust his jump shot because it just wasn’t suited for the NBA solid play and wasn’t that great

Of a jump shot blocking his vision most of the time now his jump shot is great the last time that we saw it and he hits a high percentage of his three-pointers and really really like I can’t stress enough how good of a fit he was on the

Chicago Bulls in that 2021-22 season in which they were like first in the East when he went down which is crazy to see that he was so impactful on that team next thing we saw was he received a cartilage transfer plant and was ruled out indefinitely following the procedure

In July the NBA granted the Bulls a disabled player exception for ball the total amount given to the Bulls was $10.2 million and followed news that the guard would miss the entirety of the 2023 24 season still even if the 26-year-old isn’t expected to play during the current campaign this

Development in his recovery is significant the twoa guard played some of the best basketball of his young career in his first 35 games with Chicago his counting stats dropped while serving as Zack lavine’s back cor partner but he remained an above average playmaker and Defender while shooting a career high

42.3% from Beyond The Ark in his limited time with the franchise ball averaged 13 points five rebounds and five assists additionally it provided a steady hand on defense for a Bulls team that expected to compete so the interesting thing there is Lonzo Ball’s playmaking yes the five assists are not that great

For a starting point guard and a lot of it had to do with him not having the ball in his hands as much but when we’re going to look into some stats here at the end of the video you can see that his defense is what really sha through

For Lonzo along with this three-point shooting it wasn’t the playmaking which everybody has known him uh to be known for sory next thing we saw in the article was ball who was taken with the number two overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft was part of a sign and trade deal

Between the New Orleans Pelicans and Bulls the agreement had ball signing a 4-year $85 million contract in exchange for Thomas satoransky Garrett Temple and a second round pick he has a player option for the 2024 25 season assuming that he picks up the option he’ll become

A free agent ahead the 2025 26 Season at 28 years old when this signing initially happened I was super pumped for it I I didn’t think that Lonzo had that grade of an NBA career up to that point but seem to be turning things around in New Orleans before being traded to Chicago

Giving up Thomas shad rans Garrett Temple was essentially nothing at the time and and still does mean nothing and the second round pick is neither here nor there getting Lono ball in return on a solid contract while taking a gamble at a okay price around $20 million made

Sense the fact he’s missed time means that he hasn’t lived up fully to that contract but I still think it was the right move at the time and hope to see him back on the court soon now let’s look at some those stats from the 35

Game span that he had with the Chicago Bulls in a advanced way uncrafted NBA like we like to do here on bulls digest next thing we saw and I’ll just get out of my way there it says the real true shooting percentage we can see his 74th

Percentile which is of the upper half of the league for sure he’s a very good when it comes to uh his true shooting percentage that’s the combination of course of field goal percentage free throw and threep point his shot quality above League average at 61 but he never

Gets to the free throw line he’s not a guy that really likes to drive anymore and really does take a lot of three-pointers so that’s why it’s about the worst in the league when it comes from a point guard these stats of course are only uh based on point guards that

Have played from the year of 2014 until now currently so it’s a bigger stretch to see that he’s that high in some of these stats the three-point attemped rate is in the 96 percentile so some of the most threes ever taken from a guard probably ever when you think that the three-point boom

Really only happened about 10 years ago now we also have him in the 87th percentile since 2014 in offensive rebounding for a point guard that’s insane the turnovers were a bit High I will agree I mean he’s in the 18th percenti not very good but the load is

Low the creation is also low and if you look at the portability it’s in the 99th percent like I mentioned almost any team can fit him on this their uh starting roster as the point guard he fits almost every team’s play and that is great to see there the

Passer rating below League average of 43% a lot of it has to do with Zack line with the ball in his hands but also that was probably the only thing that Lonzo lacked while he was with the bulls was the playmaking side of things which is interesting he had some highlight like

Passes but overall it wasn’t as good as we thought it was going to be he’s only in the 39th per offensively however the threo shooting is really off the charts now when we look at defense this is just absolutely phenomenal he’s in the 96 percentile in defensive plus mine is

Since 2014 four point guards I mean we look at the steel it’s in the 87th percentile the defensive rebounding 89th percentile the block percentage 96th percentile for point guards one of the best shot blocking point guards ever in that 35 uh game span and then the personal fouls in the 90th percenti that

Means he’s not fouling either that you’re just not getting any better out of a defensive point guard than Lonzo all having that 35 game span and I just don’t think that that’s mentioned enough so it’s very important that we can see that he is that good of a defensive

Player for the Chicago Bulls and hopefully he can resume that play as soon as he can get back to the court hopefully sooner rather than later at the start of next season this has been your host Joey Mercer hope you enjoyed today’s episode and have a better idea

Of how Lonzo ball fits with the team and that there is much optimism hope that he’ll come back sooner than we thought we some of us didn’t think he’d come back at all and this is some hope for us for sure going into 2024 I can’t wait to

See you all in the next episode make sure to go down below like and comment on the video subscribe to the channel turn on the bell for notifications and I can’t wait to see you all next time

  1. Im a say this on every video… I would Blow it up… And Pick up some good freebies…

Lavine to Brooklyn for Mikal Bridges, Harry Giles, walker4(maybe even dayron Sharpe)…

DeRozan to Memphis for Kennard, Aldama, and Roddy or zwilliam(my real purpose would be to obtain Bane)… So if they would say like straight up DeRozan for Bane id do it.

Send Lonzo contract to Charlotte I would aim for Terry Rozier but the bulls would probably end up with Gordon Hayward and maybe send walker 4 to Charlotte to spice up Charlotte negotiations. Being LaMelo would gives interest to his brothers contract again.

To top off the fire sale I'm send Patrick Williams to San Antonio for Jeremy Scohan….

Keep white, keep Vuevic, even keep Drummond.

But I'm not the GM and they never listen to me but hey would be nice.

    Go Bulls!!!!
