After looking it up, I’m shocked he’s still only 23

  2. MOinthepast

After hearing the news, I seriously feel that a new spirit has been breathed into me, I hope the same is true for the team 🙂

  3. ClassicNukaCola

More excited about Quickley tbh. R.J can be extremely frustrating to watch sometimes.

  4. He sucks stop pretending otherwise one of the most inconsistent players in the NBA

  5. knockoutking321

Raptors my new second team go Knicks go raptors

  6. ZeroooLuck

How many years on his and IQs contract do they have left?

  7. sentry101

RJ is not a number one option….which is perfect next to Scottie.

  8. NeonPlamTree

I’ll miss OG! but im stoked we got a Mississauga boy in RJ! 🇨🇦. Quickly is a legitimate guard with lots of potential too

  9. Bleachdrinker1998

I hope we flip this guy. Nothing about his game helps us

  10. WhatShouldTheHeartDo

Someone I always wanted on the team, damn love this feeling.

Knicks fan here.. I’m gonna be just straight up with you guys. RJ Barrett is the worrrstttt. He couldn’t hit the side of a barn with an elephant. Coming up on the court every night with that look of his, like he just faced an L with the Trailer Park Boys. Sayonara suckers…

RJ has always been part of winning teams despite the fact that he can be inefficient. I’m not sure it’s coincidence either, I think he’s a 2 way player but needs to improve efficiency.

I thought that if we did an OG for IQ swap, we’d get back Fournier and a higher pick. But I think I prefer this deal better as RJ is definitely starting caliber player.

  13. ZeroooLuck

I feel like RJ is a downgrade to OG, but at least we upgrade Malachi for Quickley. Either way hyped to see these boys play

I fully accept being a jaded Toronto sports fan but we’ve all seen this before – acquire “fan favorite” or Canadian players as marketing tools as opposed to pieces to really improve the team. At least unlike the Leafs they’re not throwing away draft picks here.

Sports execs would rather short term gains and mediocrity to ensure $$$ than sucking and rebuilding properly. I really hope this isn’t the beginnings of a decade of mediocrity

  15. is dude good? i remember he was hyped crazy in his draft year but i didnt follow him at all afterwards.

  16. The ONLY thing I’m excited about with RJ is he’s 23. Still a lot of time to turn his career around. Right now though, I’m not thrilled about him coming back our way. He’s a mega inefficient chucker and not a good 3 pt shooter. So he’s not great finishing at the rim and he’s not good shooting 3s. So he’s just not good at anything. It’s rough. Hope he can figure it out but this trade is entirely banking on IQ making a big jump with more minutes and oppurtunities.

RJ has been disappointing, but I do wonder if being back home and with a team/ staff that will work to build him back up and put less pressure on him to carry the team will help him. Knicks aren’t exactly a good development franchise and at 3rd overall in what was seen as a strong draft at the time there was a lot of pressure on him to be the savior of the team.

    Could be another Wiggins situation.

  18. SlapThatAce

We have many pylons on our streets from all the construction that is happening, I’m sure Raptors could have borrowed one instead of taking on this massive contract.

  19. NinfthWonder

I’m not high on his game. Has “I’m Him” syndrome, but he really isn’t. He needs to accept being a 3rd-4th option. Hopefully he puts it together.

  20. RJtoMitch

As a Knick fan, take good care of him please. A frustrating player at times but my favorite player of all time. I graduated with him and he will forever be a player I follow and root for his entire career. RJ and Quick are two of the most likable players in the league imo

  21. This is a fucking W man. I would consider this a down season for him so that’s probably we got him for not much (minus OG the Knicks got basically nothing). OG is having a down year and so is RJ. Can’t wait to see RJ develop alongside Scottie. Wonder if they’ll play RJ at the 3 or 2.

  22. ButterscotchObvious4

People who are hating on RJ already are going to be surprised when they see him being used effectively. Yes, IQ was the target and steal of the trade, but don’t write off RJ who will pair very well with Barnes.

  23. Medical_Platform_516

Raptors development team is going to make Rj a great player look what they did with most of young players they’ve had through the years.

  24. Background-Teach5765

Hope Maple DD still has untapped potential 🙂

  25. RoundPomegranate1147

Let’s Go!!! We got our shooting guard.

  26. Windstonam

Let’s fuck shit up and get Zion. RJ and Zion back together.

  27. Ok-Discipline9998

Someone tells me what to feel. RJ Barrett definitely has unrealized potential but he can’t shoot
