I’m sure it’s more precautionary than anything as we can’t afford to be playing a hobbled Joel 30+ minutes in December. I’m going to die on the hill that if this team can by some miracle get him to the playoffs 100% there’s zero chance we lose a series with him healthy. He’s just always hobbled by playoff time or gets some unlucky or stupid injury.
Maybe Joel is forcing the team to develop and not rely on him so much. It could be a good thing in the long run.
Joel might not play enough games to win MVP at this point. I’m cool with it as long as they get to the finals
I’d make the worst NBA forecaster of any kind. For example, I always approve of bad trades and I’m disappointed by trades that turn out great.
Back on topic, I was sure Embiid was exaggerating the injury just to take Christmas off. I guess he’s pretty hurt.
Hopefully my theory that this is a blessing in disguise holds true. I love MMA. Sometimes a guy will get a real injury and be forced to rest. He comes back saying, “That ankle injury was the best thing that happened to me. I haven’t had full range of movement in my neck, thumb, or wrist for a year. Now I’m 100% everywhere.”
Hopefully that happens for Joel.
