Kevin Durant Really Did It AGAIN…

Kevin Durant Really Did It AGAIN…

It feels like we’re just right back where we started with Kevin n doesn’t it he is now in a situation in Phoenix that is eerily similar to where he was in Brooklyn and we kind of know all that right but it’s interesting to think about why he’s here how did he get back

To the exact same point and how his career has led to this moment and by the way he also led to this idea that Kevin Durant’s tenure in Phoenix might be much shorter than anybody initially anticipated the most recently obviously we have to talk about the fact that KD

Forced a trade to Phoenix in the first place and coming into the season I was pretty excited about the Sun I could see this this version of the team where beo and Booker and Durant all play really well and they resemble that net team of Harden Kyrie and KD I could see that

Vision and they did pretty well in terms of the role players that they brought in in free agency I didn’t love the eight and trade but I could see why they would want to have nerkish I could see the vision in terms of what Phoenix was trying to be and obviously they have

Underperformed this year they have been basically an average team be has missed a ton of games basically all of the games and this has been in spite of the fact that Kevin Durant has been a amazing this season like you can talk about chemistry and body language and

Morale and all that but statistically on the floor both ends of the floor KD has been awesome like he’s shooting the best percentage of his career from three he’s defending well he’s everywhere for this team yet they’re still not very good and obviously time will still tell we’re

Still waiting on Bradley be to get healthy when those three guys are together I still think that they’re going to be a really difficult team to deal with offensively but it’s interesting how similar this situation is to what he had in Brooklyn despite the fact that he forced his way to

Phoenix as well as this aidea that maybe this is just kind of what his career was meant to be because from a basketball perspective in terms of Kevin Durant wanting to be in the best situation for his skill set to win titles to be in a in a good happy onc Court situation

Golden state was always the place for him to be it’s the reason that he went to the Warriors in the first place and him leaving the Warriors had nothing to do with how he felt the team was going to be over the next couple of years what

Their future looked like had he stayed in Golden State they probably would have won you know at least one more title and still be really really good good right now and I think everybody is thankful that he did end up leaving Golden State we all know the reason why that he left

He wanted more credit he won those two titles and basically nobody cared that he won them and he wanted to to build his own team to be the guy on a championship team and so he goes to Brooklyn and he basically builds the team himself he’s heavily involved in

Personnel decisions he gets to basically get whatever he wants including overpaying DeAndre Jordan and paying him over Jared Allen including forcing the team to make the Harden trade when they were kind of on the fence and iffy about it and then of course including requesting and forcing his way out and

Ending up in Phoenix and it’s interesting the path that Kevin Durant’s career has taken because from a basketball perspective golden state was the best situation from a legacy perspective Oklahoma city was the best situation assuming that he could you know win a title or two or do you know

Perform really well in Oklahoma city that was the best Legacy situation because it’s it’s a team with no history in Oklahoma City it’s a team that he basically builds himself and he is Oklahoma City Thunder basketball and if he stays there for his entire career wins a couple of titles with or without

Without R however they get that situation figured out his career is looked on I think much more favorably than it is right now but he decides to go away from the best basketball situation and the best Legacy situation and go on and start these new chapters in both Brooklyn and Phoenix and there’s

A couple of different things that are going to work against Kevin Durant into the future for his career one of course is the fact that he went to Golden State in the first place as well as you know requesting the trades or forcing the trades and all this stuff but also just

There’s not that many all-time great players that have been on this many teams in their Prime like typically you have an idea of okay this is what this guy looked like on this team or that team obviously LeBron has jumped around other guys like Charles Barkley were on

A ton of different teams but typically this isn’t a thing that happens for guys that you consider top 10 top 15 players of all time and I think Durant at this point has just penel in as someone that is not going to be ranked as highly all

Time as it seemed like he was going to be at the beginning of his career but the other part of that that no one really talks about is the injury stuff I mean he’s had multiple season ending injuries including of course the Achilles tear and he still managed to

Fight through all that stuff but when you account for how things went in Brooklyn with the Kyrie thing with him not playing and then Harden wanting out and then Kyrie witing out and then KD oneing out and then how things have started in Phoenix and you and you add

That to the injury stuff as well it does start to feel like Kevin Durant’s career is just cursed which obviously isn’t the case but when you look at the situations that he left behind to try and do his own thing and start a situation that he

Feels like he would get a lot of credit for in either Brooklyn or Phoenix it does make you wonder man I wish he would have just stayed in OKC I I I’m very glad that he didn’t stay in Golden State because I think the league would have

Been pretty boring relative to how it’s been over the last couple of Seasons but him and OKC would have been super super fun but then as we bring it back to this season with Phoenix obviously it doesn’t make sense to just judge this team based

Off the first 30 to 35 games of the year uh they still have an opportunity to turn it around their team is obviously built around having be Booker and Durant all on the floor at the same time together but it’s interesting because they didn’t really give up that much in

Terms of on the floor in exchange for Bradley Beal so had they not made the beal trade or had Beal not requested a trade or had he not had a no trade clause to be able to basically Force his way to Phoenix this is what the team

Would have looked like what they are right now without be obviously there’s Chris Paul and there’s a couple of other you know factors in this equation but for the most part this is what the team would have looked like and it’s interesting how inept that they have

Looked obviously on the defensive end of the floor they’ve been all over the place nurkic has missed games and offensively if they’re making shots yeah it looks fine but they don’t have any backup plant they don’t have any other option and and now we’re already getting these rumors about how Kevin ran is

Frustrated with the team and he doesn’t like the roster which again is exactly what we heard in Brooklyn and at some point as great as Kevin Durant is as a basketball player we do have to look at the situation and say is he the problem like part of the reason why these teams

Are bad is because he’s there is because for example for Phoenix they had to trade all this stuff to get him he forced his way to a team with a vision in mind of obviously he wanted to play with Deon Booker but I’m sure at least

Part of him thought man Phenix has this has this team that is built for a Star to be there kind of similar to how Brooklyn was when he got there yet obviously they were going to have to get rid of some guys in order to trade for

Him and what it ended up being was all of the guys it was literally just him and Booker left over and then Brooklyn you know it’s hard to fault him a ton for how that went apart from attaching himself to Kyrie and James Harden two of the most unreliable stars that we’ve had

In the last decade and a half in the NBA and Kevin Durant has been apart from injuries pretty dependable and apart from leaving for Golden State and then request in a trade to Phoenix pretty Dependable in terms of like night toight he’s going to Care he’s going to want to

Be out there um and he just attached himself to the wrong two guys and those were his decisions like make no mistake about it Brooklyn wasn’t super excited about bringing in Kyrie Irving on a Max contract because he was had he had already had issues with Boston before

That he was just he was a bit of an enigma as a player and they brought him in because they wanted KD and 100 out of 100 times you do that but it’s not like they were like yes we’re going to get Kyrie and I honestly don’t think that

They would have signed Kyrie if they weren’t also getting Kevin Durant and they were definitely on the fence about the Harden thing and then Kyrie and KD both pushed for that and then he also pushed his way of course to Phoenix and so basically what I’m getting at here is

Kevin R is an example of an incredible player that just made some bad choices and he made some mistakes in terms of how the Brooklyn thing went leaving for Golden State in the first place I think if you asked him and you gave him truth serum and you’re like hey do you wish

You hadn’t have gone to Golden State and just stayed in Oklahoma City he probably wishes that he would have just stayed because at some point they probably would have won at least one title and it would have me way more than the two that he won in Golden State and it’s just a

Handful of bad decisions that’s the curse of Kevin Durant is trying to be more than just this unbelievable player he’s trying to be a general manager he’s trying to manage the team he’s trying to you know move all these different parts when he should have just stayed in

Oklahoma City in the first place and a lot of the choices that he made whether it be forcing his way to Phoenix or trying to get Kyrie and Harden on the team and Brooklyn in the first place that is that’s the curse of KD making those kinds of choices and and kind of

Forcing the situation around him to what he thought it should be um that’s the curse of KD

  1. Rare Sunday post for me, was supposed to go live yesterday but then the OG trade happened. Enjoy and have a safe and happy New Year!

  2. This is insane 😂😂😂 no context at all. The nets didn’t agree on there promise on extended James or kyrie after him so yeah KD is out too. Sean knew that. Nets situation was no way his fault besides joe tsai and Kyrie.

  3. KD legacy is trash. Dont get me wrong one of the greatest scorers ever. But what else? We know how he got his two rings. But hes never dominated the game like LeBron. And im not even a LeBron fan and i notice it. Its not that he chose to leave OKC that ruined it, its where he chose to go.

  4. Ironically okc would be the perfect place for him to get traded to at this point, probably the only team that can offer enough firsts without completely wrecking their core

  5. We gotta stop blaming kd..the dude is the most consistent player in the past decade. He rarely if ever has a bad game. Its a team sport not a single player game. The problem is hes good..hes one of the greatest of all time. So hes expected to win win win..but thats not how things work

  6. Durant probably would have won like four championships if he stayed at golden state, possibly more.

He would have gone down as top 10 ever, people would have forgived him going to the best team if he won four +

  7. It's not a curse. Dude demands a lot of resources to get traded. He depletes teams of picks and young talent.

  8. People still blaming KD for the nets situation is crazy. Kyrie ain't wanna play, harden leaves, then they get a guy in ben simmons who can't even suit up.

  9. Kevin Durant is not and has never been "Cursed." or have "Bad Luck." He's the reason.

Besides the long list of bad decisions he's made, he's also injury Prone.

  10. As a Nets fan Its very interesting to wonder what the team would have done had they not traded half of the team for Harden.

  11. I was expecting Kyrie to crack and hold Dallas hostage way quicker than KD in Phoenix.

Seems like he constantly wants to have his cake and eat it too! I feel sorry him.

  12. OKC wouldn't spend the money for a championship team, I will defend Durant for leaving to the death. Wanting to be the man which was never going to happen in Golden State, I also get. You can defend that one. But hitching his wagon to Kyrie? Nah, man. That wasn't it. Phoenix could have been it, but the Beal trade definitely wasn't it.

  13. No, he should have stayed with GSW. OKC didn’t want to pay harden and that’s a mistake no matter how you look at it. That front office was not going to make that situation better and it’s not a destination.

  14. Kevin Durant has a similar issue that LeBron had. His talent level and age automatically puts your team in win it all at all costs mode. The benefit that LeBron had that Kevin Durant does not is by and large LeBron’s super teams were formed by free agencies rather than trades. Like in Miami the big three signed there which the team had almost no other talent to make the financial room for that, but thankfully the big 3 took some paycuts and were so damn good it attracted free agents which led to the back to back titles. In Cleveland when LeBron signed there they had so much young talent that when they brought in LeBron and had enough talent to trade for Kevin Love without gutting the roster. Same thing applies to LA, now LA is still recovering from the Westbrook deal as it really cost them a lot of good complimentary talent. Now KD keeps either gutting these teams himself when he’s traded there or has the talent on the team gutted by trading for a star KD wants.

  15. Going to the Warriors is Durant's best career decision so far. Holding that against him is hateful and pathetic. Why would that be bad if he co-lead the Warriors to two titles? It's a false narrative made up by envious haters. I vomit on it and throw it in the sewers because it's where it belongs.

No professional basketball commentator should repeat that garbage.

Btw, I'm not a Durant fan, by I respect what he did as a player just as I respect the achievements of other players. Trying to take Durant's achievements away from him or from anybody on the Warriors is the typical behaviour of a sore loser. So, in a way, I thank you for telling on yourself like that. Now I know what you are.

  16. The funniest narrative with sports commentary is that Durant should have stayed with Okc lol. They were NEVER going to win a chip with that roster. There's a reason they blew a 3-1 lead. Durant made the right choice in leaving and his reason for leaving GSW might have had something to do with the misdiagnosis of his achilles strain they lead to a tear. His worse decision by far was teaming up with Kyrie Irving and James Harden.

  17. I think he absolutely is the proble. He's shown that when you give him input on creating the roster of a team, he doesn't know what works well around him. He consistently wants to play with smaller high-skill guys who aren't good defenders. GSW worked for him, because they had guys like Draymond and Iggy on defense. He hasn't tried teaming with stars who are actually amazing defensive players, and furthermore, he burns so many resources getting redundant skill players – like Beal/Harden- that they can't bring in really good defensive guys around him. A good comp is LeBron; he's certainly made some bad decisions in team-building, pushing for the Russ trade and giving up KCP/Kuzma, etc to do so, when KCP & Kuzma are both probably better players RN than Russ and would've helped the Lakers win more in following years. But on the other side of that, he understands he needs shooting around him, and a top tier rim protector so he can play his help defense roll and kick to open guys, which worked really well on the Cavs teams he helped build, and some of these Lakers teams. KD is clearly significantly less self-aware.

He's hurt his legacy a lot at this point. Even the only 2 times he won he teamed up with Steph to take down LeBron. #2 and #3 best players in the world at the time, literally on the same team. They were such heavy favorites that placing money on them to win the championship actually lost you money… Since then it's repeated failures and trade demands. The 2022 title puts him under Steph all time, and his frustration in moments like this just make him so unlikeable because we all know he signed off on the Beal trade, and we all know that this Suns roster is as thin and defensively flawed as it is because of the move for KD and the moves that KD actively supported. First round exit at best.

  18. As a Thunder fan …. He crushed us when he left !! We got NOTHING for him & he left at the midnight hour & nobody left to sign moving forward !!

Presti IS the best GM in the NBA …. We are 7 years beyond KD leaving & our future is extremely bright z…very good now … getting better & tons of future pics for at least next 5 years to continue building !! GS is done …Brooklyn done …PHX …done ….. these teams have NO future because KD has left their shelves bare !!! He did it to himself completely!!!!

  19. I disagree with the OKC take cuz we're not sure he would have won. I think a win is a win and it gets you in the books. If KD stays in OKC, or if Lebron had stayed in Cleveland, whose to say these guys would have won eventually? Purely speculation. You can't be sure of that.

  20. KD has spent his career running from the grind and accountability and he’s the most coddled star of all time. No player has played with as many stars and all time greats, and he’s got 2 rings to show for it.

Ppl are so mesmerized by his talent. And by god is he talented, he’s always lacked as a leader, I’ve never seen someone get as many excuses made for them as KD.

  21. Dunb take all around. He knows better but its great clickbait. Like woj frustrated clickbait nothing story.
