LeBron James after Lakers’ loss to Pelicans: We need to get better | NBA on ESPN

Well at least there was no um toe on the line out of the line no none of that none of that all my threes are behind the line there you go yeah you kind of made sure uh just trying to zoom out for a second you you

Been in the leag for 21 years obviously there there are excuses that can be made right the regular season you talk about schedule talk about back to backs talk about injuries But ultimately there’s also record is it is um so where where you at on that as you try to know take

This team now into the next year I’m sure you would like to be more than just 500 at this point well for sure for sure you know and uh but it is what it is it is what our record is and we have to uh

We have to figure it out and get better for sure tonight’s game I did you feel like you know right in that first quarter like CJ gets the 5 threes you guys are switching some um then then in zone like how how do you feel like that all happened the

Disant um definitely CJ got it going early on um you know made this call the time I think they went up 10323 um after CJ hit that that that last week um from the corner and um definitely we’re not one team that like to play from behind

We’ve been in that position a lot in this year especially in the first quarter um but we still was able to to get back into the game but they they they did a good job you know you give credible credit do did a good job of exp Sports and things that

We have going on defensively you guys will be to remove one element that’s been working against you last month uh as you turn the calendar I think 11 out of the next 12 or in Los Angeles how can that help uh at the in the same breath

Though how can that that can’t kind of fix everything well I mean it can help in the sense of just uh you know giving ourself an opportunity to not have to travel as much but it can hurt in the sense of where you start feeling comfortable because you’re at

Home so we have to understand that yes just because we’re home we can just like relax now you know you know um definitely feels better to be in your own bed but at the end of the day um we still got to go out and compete cuz

Teams are going to come into our building looking to do the same thing they’ve been doing being on the road so how are you feeling today uh no around the same uh the flight last night did not help obviously you know I was getting think we didn’t

Get to the hotel last night till like 3:45 you know so um you know it was a rough day you know just trying to recalibrate and get ready for the game but happy I was just trying to make some some for my team Austin’s great Austin’s great and

Uh I like Austin no matter where he is obviously it’s always great to be on the Flor with him no matter if he’s coming off the bench or if he’s starting you know whatever I just love being on the floor with him makes play so it’s always good during the stretches

The tournament inj there guys in out of line of obvious the travels been the travel is has that prevented you from having many take like substantial takeaways that you can take back home with you that you can apply during this home stand no last question and you said last night

You guys were quote fighting for your asses right now because the Western Conference and really the NBA is kind of so crowded in standings are you because of that is it is it hard to not get discouraged by the stretch because you kind of let up some ground

That you built earlier um and and just how do you view the challenge of there’s a lot of par in the League this year so you’re going to have a bunch of you know nights that they’re going to take your best away yeah I mean I’m not worried

About what everybody else has that going on obviously there a lot of great teams in this league there a lot of people fighting for jocking position but I can only worry about us and um you know I guess I got a small sample size of what we can do when we’re whole um

But I have more of a larger pie of what we look like where we’re not and know so that’s a discouraging part right there you know but um you know no excuse because everyone goes through injuries and everybody goes through travel and things of that nature this league is

Built on that so we have to figure it out all [Applause] Right h

LeBron James speaks with reporters following the Los Angeles Lakers’ 129-109 loss on the road to the New Orleans Pelicans. With LA now 17-17 on the season, LeBron says they need to get better while looking ahead to an upcoming run of games at home.

  1. He's already said "We need to get better." Does he mean the current players they have or is he trying to get them to make more moves?

  2. LeBron James turned 39 years old, with only 4 championship rings to his name. Michael Jordan was only 34 years old when he won his 5th championship ring. The late Kobe Bryant was only 31 years old when he won his 5th championship ring. Will LeBron James be 50 years old when he finally wins his 5th championship ring?? Smh. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

  3. So LeBron James dedicates the 2023-2024 season to his son, yet LeBron James lost the very FIRST game of the 2023-2024 Regular Season against the team that swept them in the 2023 Western Conference Finals, the reigning NBA Champions-the Denver Nuggets. And then in this same 2023-2024 NBA season that LeBron James dedicated to his son, LeBron James loses the NBA game on his December 30th birthday, in which LeBron James turned 39 years old and refuses to retire because as of right this second, Michael Jordan is STILL too far ahead and too far above LeBron James. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

  4. lol LeGM needs more help again?!…….how much help does he need?…….how can you call him goat? Maybe the goat of recruitment 🤷🏻‍♂️

  5. We need to get better… says the guy that never gets back on Defence when he turns it over. Even when he is playing "D" he doesn't rotate. He doesn't help on the weak side and then blames his team mates for missing their assignment. We are all witnessing the GOAT 😂

  6. Dude's 39 years old he should not be depended on this much. The team should've resigned Schroder and let D-Lo walk

  7. This may sound crazy but I think Lakers can still win the WCF if it isn't my Clippers or the Nuggets. Teams like Minny and OKC are last year's Memphis and Sac getting eliminated in the First Round.

I'm not buying New Orleans either. Then Phoenix and Golden State are not large enough to handle Denver and the Lakers. So this leaves only three teams: Denver or one of the LA teams.

I think my Clippers are the most talented team when they're healthy which seems never the case by the playoffs. AD has played like 80+ of his last 84 games or so. It's weird because I think my Clippers can beat the Lakers but I'm more confident in the Lakers in beating everyone else!

I'm not confident if my Clippers faces Minny, OKC, Denver, or NOLA than if the Lakers faces them. Mainly because the Clippers are older while Lakers have more size and youth injected in them.

I'm going to wait until after next weekend to make my annual NFL/NBA parlays but it's going to start with these teams winning their conferences….

To me, it looks like a mortal lock with my Niners winning the NFC but I have doubts they win it all because Kyle Shanahan's teams don't know how to fight back when they get punched in the mouth. My Niners are frontrunners. Once they lose the lead, they can't regain it.

Skip Bayless keeps yapping Lamar Jackson this and that. Remember the 2019 season? The Ravens lost to the Titans in the divisional game. The year Lamar won MVP. Lamar is only 1-3 in the playoffs. Joe Flacco is 10-5. Mahomes is 11-3 and two of his losses was against Brady.

Do not put everything on the Niners or Ravens. There is still a chance both of them will get upset. This is still football. I figure Shanahan will not play his starters against the Rams next weekend. They won't play for basically three weeks. They will lose their edge similar to those 14-2 2019 Ravens losing to Tennessee.

I personally don't hate the Cowboys, so I wouldn't mind if Skip's team upsets my team in the NFC championship game. It could still happen knowing the Niners were favored only to get spanked by Baltimore at home. There's one team to look out for and with monster odds to win it all: Cleveland Browns.

I'm thinking of parlaying Browns winning the AFC with Denver and both LA teams to win the WCF. I don't want to complicate the wager with the NFC. For all I know, Rams or Lions make the SB. It's true what Skip is saying that Brock Purdy has the haywire gene. He takes too many chances and when Purdy gets bad, he gets really bad as seen against Baltimore.

I want to see my Niners and Clippers win it all but I just don't know because they break my heart every year. Gawd, I hate the Lakers but I can't count out LeBron just like I can't count out Mahomes. Lamar has only 1 playoff series next to him and Skip Bayless is going to trust him this soon? Mahomes and Flacco are battle-tested and are champions.

I'm really, really eyeing the Browns right now. The only team to beat the Niners and Ravens this season and this is when Flacco hadn't started for them yet. Flacco is going to get revenge on his old team similar to Jared Goff getting revenge on the Rams. Eagles have faded. Losers of 4 of their last 5 games. They've become a toss as their current form can't even beat the Cardinals at home.

A Detroit-Cleveland Super Bowl is going to be wild but I'm not sure Detroit is good enough to beat the Cowboys the same way I knew the Dolphins were never on the level of the Ravens. But I know my Niners can beat the Cowboys the same way the Clippers can beat the Lakers in a playoff series. But I doubt Niners can beat whoever comes out of the AFC and the Clippers can't seem to beat any team not named the Lakers.

    NFC –
    Niners
    Cowboys

    AFC –
    Browns
    Chiefs
    Ravens

    ECF –
    Celtics
    Sixers
    Bucks
    Heat

    WCF –
    Nuggets
    Clippers
    Lakers

I effing hate the Miami Heat for ruining my Nuggets-Celtics parlay last year. The Lakers will win the championship if they face Miami again. But if Lakers face the other three, they can lose to them.

    Lakers' toughest playoff opponents –
    Sixers
    Clippers
    Nuggets
    Bucks
    Celtics

That's it. If you want to see LeBron catch his 7th Finals L, you better pray Miami doesn't upset everyone in the East like they did last year and in 2020. A very weak and small opponent for the Lakers to feast on.

I'm not worried about the Lakers being 17-17. They'll wake up again after the All-Star break and may probably shoot up as a top 4 seed. You want to be peaking by March and LeBron needs to pace himself for the finish. Teams like Minnesota, OKC, Sacramento, and New Orleans are frauds no different than Memphis the previous two seasons. They'll be lucky if they win one playoff series.

I pray Clippers faces the Lakers in the playoffs. The Clippers needs to treat every game against the Lakers as if it's personal. The Michael Jordan way. The Clippers needs to finally grow a pair and rise up against their big brothers. Don't let these Hollywood Faker assholes keep bullying you.

We got Lakers vs. Clippers next Sunday. Payback time for losing that first matchup in early November when my Clippers didn't have Harden yet and we were coming off a B2B. There will be higher ratings when Lakers lose than when they win.

LeBron has already tarnished the NBA brand with his liberal BS and team hopping. NBA ratings are a joke thanks to him. He didn't improve it. Not even when he went to the Lakers. He only cares about his legacy than care about the NBA.

  8. Man I'd walk away no way a interview is worth that , he's salty and in turn making the interview awkward walk away f him and his entitled self.

  9. Smakers been stinkingg since Kobe left!! Pelinka stinks soo bad!!! Got Russ last year & still aint done nothing! who was to blame when Russ is with the Clippers now flourishing!? bad coaches bad players all falls on the GM lets stop going around the bush

  10. These idiots want Lebron at age 39 to not only score efficiently, but defend at a high level. When Tom Brady said he needs more help, everybody agreed. Lebron says they need more help, and people attack him for it.

  11. Just asking. Does LB always do this skincare routine? I don’t watch these post game interviews a lot so I was thinking LB has some kind of skincare line coming out. Or at least he could doing all that. I laughed a lil thinking about that scene from that movie where the guy was taking forever to get in the bed with the chic cause he was doing all this stuff. lol 😂 LB like that! Nothing wrong with personal hygiene! 👍🏾
