Immanuel Quickley Is The PERFECT Player Next To Scottie Barnes | Film Study

The Toronto Raptors just made a blockbuster trade and while it’s sad to see OG anobi one of the Premier defenders in the league goto arrival like the New York Knicks the Raptors got back the perfect player to pair alongside Scotty Barnes for the foreseeable future most fans will think

Of RJ Barrett when it comes to this trade given his connection to Team Canada but the real gem is Emanuel quickley before we get into the video do me a favor and hit that subscribe button if you can it would be greatly appreciated quickly made a name for

Himself in New York nearly winning six man of the year last season for the Knicks in his fourth season the league the reason he got traded and the reason the Raptors made the move was because New York just couldn’t give him the playing time or money that he desired

While Toronto has a massive hole at the guard spot that he can fill and the Raptors didn’t just get any guard they got a young 24-year-old two-way Beast who will mesh well with their franchise Cornerstone in Scotty Barnes if we think of what Scotty is good at as a player

It’s easy to see what types of players can help complement his game Scotty’s size and length makes him excellent around the basket his cerebral decision-making and playmaking ability makes him Excel as a screener dominating in the short role and making plays for himself and his other teammates and most

Recently he’s added a three-point shot as well and if that sticks he’ll be one tough player to guard so what does Scotty need around him other players who can take advant ages of the advantages that Scotty creates a guard who can create his own shot serve as a shooting

Threat and play sound defense on the perimeter essentially for a lack of better terms if Scotty plays like Nicola yic or damont sabonis he needs his Jamal Murray or dearon Fox and quickley might just be that in just 24 minutes a game this season quickly is averaging over 15

Points off of the bench for the Knicks while shooting the lights out if you scale up his minutes to 36 he’d be averaging 22 4 and four on excellent efficiency and as a starter for the Knicks last season in just 21 games he averaged over 21 points a night so it’s

Feasible with the larger role in Toronto he’ll match or exceed that and it starts with the shooting for quickly he is one of the most efficient pull-up Shooters in the League this season knocking down 40% of his pull-up threes on just over two attempts a game and even if that’s a

Current hot streak he’s been a 35% pull-up shooter for his career which will be like finding water in the Sahara Desert on this Raptor’s team with Toronto so deprived of shooting Quickly’s ability to pull up will pair well next to Scotty and pick and rolls where his pull-up threat will force

Teams to go over screens or even switch actions which should open up the middle of the floor for Scotty speaking of the pick and roll that is where quickley is going to thrive on this team he is the second most efficient pick and roll ball handler in the League this season

Generating over 1 one pick run albeit on low volume only being given four possessions a game while he isn’t doing it as frequently because of his role quickly is up there next to Tyrese halberton dearen Fox SGA and Jamal Murray as far as pick and roll initiators and efficiency and that will

Be a godsend for this Raptor’s team and for Scotty Barnes who can act both as a screener and as the ball handler next to quickley why because quickley is also Dynamite off of the ball and that that’s why he’s the perfect pair next to Scotty because IQ doesn’t necessarily need the

Ball to make plays he’s shooting 40% on catch and shoot threes this season and has excelled in ghost screen actions where he slips into space using the threat of his driving ability to space the floor and knock down shots when paired alongside Jaylen Brunson and not to mention quickly is shooting a

Whopping 43% on above the break threes and that should help space the floor for both Pascal and Scotty to operate in the post even more his catch and shoot ability is perfect next to Scotty because he can draw the attention and with that added attention Scotty can

Feast off of those IQ is excellent at attacking Closeouts and driving the ball according to Lewis zatman of Raptor’s Republic quickly averages just over 17 drafts per 100 possessions and the Knicks score over one point on those drives which is above League average but as Lewis points out in context of the

Raptors above average would be by far their best and most most efficient driver on the team quickly uses his drives to settle into his unlimited floater game which is one of the best in the league IQ uses his speed to burst into the lane and then settle from about

10 to 16 ft on teardrops hitting on 59% of his floaters good for the sixth best Mark in the league and while he isn’t the greatest finisher at The Rim only knocking down 57% of his layups that also pairs well alongside the Raptor stars in Pascal and Scotty who make

Their living at the rim and can Feast off of advantages IQ creates now the main area of concern for quickly as it pertains to how he looks as the lead guard of this team is his playmaking he’s never averaged more than four assists in a single season and he isn’t

Necessarily the best at making complex reads or bending the defense using his playmaking quickly is mostly a scoring guard right now that has the potential to grow in that area of his game at just 24 years old but the good thing is the Raptors already have a play maker on the

Floor in Scotty who is one of the best in the league at doing so so quickly who is an explosive score can help accentuate Scotty’s strengths while also Scotty can help alleviate some of the playmaking pressure off of IQ and vice versa and that’s why the Raptors traded

One of their best players in OG for this guy Toronto very desperately needed to find a guard to pair alongside Scotty long term and in quickly they not only have an ideal feel fit next to him but they also have a potential budding star ready to break out and with the extra

Opportunity in Toronto it’s all but a given that he will thank you for watching if you like this video hit that subscribe button and don’t forget to tap in to the objective basketball podcast for our analysis of the NBA at Large

  1. Sad we won't get to see his full potential this season until nxt however it was a great trade…RJ will come up big too aswel

  2. There is no "Winner" or "Loser" in this trade. The Knicks had offense, and needed defense. The Raptors had defense, and needed offense. It's perfect

  3. sir, there was no a single part of this video that could be even remotely confused for a film study. It was repeating stats you found online while playing highlights in the background

  4. Love this vid Es but are we thst sure IQ gets the starting PG role? I think he should get it but this team never ceases to amaze me with how little their lineups make sense. Darko loves Dennis. RJ may also get some run with the starters. IQ is in a contract year and letting the reins out now means possibly inflated his price for a wasted season. There are enough reasons for this to unfold slower than I think we may like.

    Only time will tell!

  5. I mean yeah, like, the knicks already have an offense running through Jalen and Julius, and they needed better D with Mitch out. And the raptors need an actual point guard and RJ will be well loved in Canada as long as he at least improves a bit

  6. The reload is far away look how long it took OKC to come back TO has no depth in their system it’s on the management

  7. Knicks fan here. Wanted to word up the Raps fans about IQ, who though he mightn't seem it, is the best player you've got in the trade. This kid's defensive play at POA is league elite level. He's constantly a top performer on P&R defence statistically, and his ability to maintain a presence when playing off the pick/trailing the ball handler is some of the best you'll see in the NBA. He has a long set of arms, too, and can get contested rebounds against bigger players and run hard into transition.

Offensively he can be sporadic, and only this year has really rounded out a proper triple threat game. That's my opinion. His usage is always high, sometimes is a culprit for over-usage and has been called a ball-hog in the past. Solid 3PT shooter, has a nice floater, but isn't really a penetrate and create player. Regardless, you've got a starting calibre 1/2 in Quickley, who's an absolute spark on both ends, and is infectious when hot.

RJ … I don't remember ever seeing a player who fluctuates game to game like he does. He played a very solid postseason last year, which was surprising, and outdid expectation. But … yes … he can be very frustrating, and struggles with consistency. If you go back through each of his season highlights since he was a rookie, you'll see a constantly evolving jumper. Last year he was the league's worst pull-up jump shooter, which shows he struggles to improve, IMO. Defensively he can also be very out of tune one play, then focused the next. In all honesty, the high expectation was beyond what he's capable of, and to remove the constant doubt from NY is a good feeling for a lot of fans.

  8. We (raptors) won this trade. We basically got a better T.Maxey( top 5 player in his position) for a Could be 3 and D player on an expiring contract.
