Praying embiid doesn’t go to town on drummgod tonight
Another day another chance for Drummgod to show who is the best center in the league tonight.
The Sixers are 10.5 point favorites at home against the Bulls. The 76ers are 12-4 in Philadelphia, out-pacing opponents by 13.5 points per 100 possessions. That includes six wins in the last seven home games. This will be a challenge for the Bulls.
That said, the Bulls are playing well. Chicago is 5-2 in the last seven games, with the team’s defense leading the way. DeMar DeRozan averaged 23.7 points, 6.5 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game for the month of December, finishing the 2023 calendar year with six straight games with at least 21 points. The Bulls also commit the second-fewest turnovers (12.0 per game) in the NBA.
LaVine and Vucevic are still out, but their back-ups have been playing well. Andre Drummond has been on fire as a starter, averaging 15.3 points with a .667 shooting percentage, 21.3 rebounds, 6.7 offensive rebounds, 2 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game. Unfortunately, he’s also averaging a .375 shooting percentage on foul shots, so he may get hacked a lot.
The Sixers are only missing starting shooting guard De’Anthony Melton. That won’t affect the Sixers’ offense much at all, but it’s a potential weakness for them on defense.
Really want this one, but that free throw merchant is going to make it tough to win (and watch)
Get better Embiid, no need to play in this meaningless game in January
If Drum picks up 2 early fouls then this is gonna be a tough game
Coby’s wrist is probably the biggest variable for this game.
Bulls had 3 days to figure out a different option at 3rd string center and it doesn’t seem they have made any moves. Terry Taylor hasn’t been terrible but we saw what happened with the Pacers and it is likely going to happen again with Embiid. I don’t get what AKME is doing on that front.
