Jake Weinbach: The Mavericks should be considered a “dark horse” candidate to land Pascal Siakam. Dallas’ trade package would presumably consist of Tim Hardaway Jr., Richaun Holmes, Josh Green, and a future first-round pick. Toronto has held previous interest in 23-year-old wing Josh Green.

That package is so dogshit
Extending pascal should be on the table. Having pascal is so much better that that shit coming back
I guess it depends on how highly they view Green. I personally don’t see him as an exciting building piece but I obviously don’t work in an NBA front office. This package seems very underwhelming.
The Raptors must get a good young building piece in a Siakam trade to put with Scottie/IQ. Since it’s clear they don’t want picks/rebuild, they need to really get this trade right.
Just extend him if this is what we’d get. We’re not going to use our cap space for anything meaningful anyways. The biggest consequence is likely losing GTJ, and if you’re prioritizing a middling rotation player over a top 30 player in their prime, you’ve lost the plot. This isn’t even about team building, it’s pure asset management. You can trade him later.
The Atlanta package > (and that’s not even that great).
That’s a lot to take on just to get Josh Green
Dallas doesn’t have the assets. Our primary trade partners for pascal are indy, gs, sac, and atl.
This only makes sense if they know pascal will walk, they don’t want to extend him, and the intention is to process tank next year.
It is definitely worth giving Siakam some time to see how he works with the new blood. Yesterday was a very good sign. I can’t recall the last time I was as engaged with a game.
If I know one thing about Masai, we’re not taking on Josh Green’s dogshit contract.
Feels more likely that Dallas tries to trade Hardy/Omax than Green as he is more of a win now player. Underwhelming either way.
Desperate team with no assets. That’s not a dark horse.
Toronto or any other market that struggles to attract talent in free agency cannot be in the business of letting go of All Star / All NBA level talent for that type of price. A package headlined by 31 year old THJ? Fuck that
Re-sign him. See what you have with that group for the remainder of the year and then see what is out there for him this offseason with 4 years on his contract.
There’s always that ONE person from your fantasy basketball league who keeps trying these ridiculous 5 for 1 trades…
Depends on how high they are on Josh, I do trust the FO as talent evaluators, so If they see Josh as the right piece in any potential deal I’d at least be open to it
Holmes is dead weight, but would serve as salary filler for any future trades and would probably fill the backup C spot in a limited capacity until Koloko is back
Hardaway is having a good season and would be a good off-season trade chip or a good deadline trade chip
Then with Josh Green, I’ve caught some Mavs games this season and have really liked his game, but even I can admit that I don’t see him as the centerpiece of a Siakam deal
If you add Jaden Hardy or OMP and a pick swap I start to like it a little more, something like this:
TOR – Holmes, Hardaway Jr, Josh Green, OMP, a 2027 1st round pick top 5 protected, and a 2025 2nd round pick from Toronto via Dallas
MAVS – Siakam, OPJ, Temple
I would take it over an ATL deal without JJ, if the Pacers or any of the rumoured teams come back with something better then obviously go with that
Hahahaha what a dog shit package…go pound sand, Siakam will remain a Raptor
Hard pass, I watch the mavs a lot because of Luka / Kyrie. THJ is meh, nothing special and has a hard time around the arc, Holmes is decent and really this trade would be about green and a first round pick. To me, that’s way to little for Siakam and we would be taking the L on this trade
Lol I’ve seen so many bad trade offers from journalists and reporters. One guy even suggested CP3.
THJ and Green would give us some spacing. I wouldn’t mind a spare first round pick, and Holmes would give us a back-up Centre.
It’s a terrible package for an all-star calibre player still in his prime, but I can see how they are rationalizing it.
I was huge on the blow it up trade pascal team but i never expected RJ and quick to be on this team.
But After seeing this team with that duo I don’t see why we couldnt be a top 8 team next season with some retooling in the offseason along with more development and chemistry from RJ scott and quick. We still need that go-to scoring option and pascal is exactly that. More scoring options is always better. Our team is leaps better with him than without and if we want to be a relevant competitive team we desperately need him around. Without him we’d probably be a play-in team ceiling with him we’re striking range to the top 6 IMO. All else fails you trade him on a long term contract next year where teams would STILL want him as the final piece to their championship run.
Richuan Holmes is 30 and averaging 3 ppg, Tim Hardaway is 31 and can’t do anything other than score. Josh Green is averaging 6 ppg in his 4th season.
In what world are these pieces we want or need to fit with Scottie’s timeline.
I was all for exploring trades but after yesterdays game I feel we can be competitive with Pascal. Our team was never constructed horribly we just lost the spirit, and so did the fans.
Yuck
Dark horse trade destination because the return is just not good enough
I can’t imagine a trade to there without a massive amount of first round picks
Dallas depth has been atrocious for years so the return is just not present
The only one that maybe makes sense for Masai to do is to steal Luka 🤣
Really though Indiana still seems by far the best trade partner of all the rumoured ones
This feels like the media trying to force it into existence because they don’t care to watch Indiana or Atlanta lol
Lmao
Honestly I say let’s wait til at least 5-7 games in with this new lineup and team. If pascal improves to the point that we’re winning games left and right, I say offer Siakam the extension and see if he takes it. I’d rather keep Siakam for a year or two more to help keep Scottie motivated and getting playoff reps than ship him out for complete dog shit packages. Like how is it that Jaden Hardy wasn’t even in this package. I’d rather get a package of Hardaway, Hardy, Green and picks and Holmes as filler.
ew
Lively or get lost.
I like Josh Green, but that’s absolutely not a Siakam package.
Lmao hell no
Lmao, zero chance Pascal gets traded for that.
I’ve played around with the trade machine to see what a Dallas package could be. The best I could muster is Williams, Holmes, Green, Prosper, 2025 2nd via Raptors and 2027 1st (own) for Siakam and McDaniels.
This assumes Lively is untouchable and we have no need for Hardaway given the overlap with Trent.
Since OG is gone, I don’t think we should trade Pascal this season. Biggest issues we had was Scottie/Pascal/OG trying to do the same thing. I think Scottie and Pascal can co-exist with what IQ is offering, which we lacked for a long time. We should re-sign Pascal and retool this squad, and see what our ceiling is. We can always trade him next season if this squad doesn’t work well.
I do think we still need vet leadership and legit bench pieces tho. If we could bring back someone like Lowry, I think it could do wonders for our young players.
You could tell this info isn’t coming from the raptors side. What a shit return
If this is the package go to FA with him and you can probably get 80% of that in a S/T.
Max spicy p for 3 years. Great deal for both parties
Lol @ people still wanting to trade Pascal. RJ, IQ and Scottie are the 3 young pups moving forward. Jak and Pascal are the vets. Do people seriously think the Raptors will be able to get a player of Pascal’s calibre over the next 3 or 4 years when the young pups are all in their mid to late 20’s?
This is just media noise, I’d rather keep pascal and tray again next year after we extend him than this bullshit package
You cant be a serious dark horse while also offering that package
Cmon now. Siakam is a top 5 player in our franchises history, I really hope we’re not considering moving him for this rather than paying him what he deserves
If the return is garbage scraps, I highly doubt we are trading.
Also Josh Green has a poison pill, his outgoing contract of 4 million turns into 11 million incoming. Then owed 41M next 3 years with his career average 6ppg. THJ and Holmes would be deadweight, though I’m assuming we would flip THJ to another contender.
I don’t see how you make a mavs trade without Lively. He’s the only player I’d want.
Are we sure Siakam wants to extend with us?
I don’t want to trade Pascal. We need him.
Dolan wasn’t gonna get fleeced again by a Bargnani, he KNEW everyone loves OG.
But, Bobsai got em again anyway, because they overpaid. They undervalue RJ due to draft position and their own delusion bubble that is NY media. He doesn’t seem “flashy” enough so they can’t see his value.
They lucked into too many good guards so they undervalued IQ as well, or just were so afraid of losing him for nothing Dolan got caught in the Bobsai web
Raptors won this trade and the fit is perfect, if everyone plays their roles we only need a stretch big and development time.
That’s pretty comparable to what OG fetched. Josh and frp is similar to IQ and the rest are just salary fillers
