“If a team is going to trade for him they want to know whether they can re-sign him, might affect what they offer in a deal.”

Woj also mentions finding players that fit in age wise with Scottie etc

I don’t really understand the logic. If he looks good, we aren’t going to trade him and if he doesn’t look good, the offers are not going to be good enough for him to get traded.

I don’t think how we play until the deadline has a lot to do with Pascal staying or getting traded.

It has more to do with other teams getting desperate

This was actually my thought as well. They moved OG fairly early on to give this group a bit of time. If the trade shows positive growth maybe they extend pascal and look to move a newly re-signed trade chip in the off season.

  4. If pascal keeps going like he has been, I think it’ll convince some teams like sac to come off of bigger pieces like Keegan Murray, maybe

Hasn’t been said much but he’s probably on the greatest scoring stretch of his career right now, at least imo

The OG trade tells a lot about what is going on with Masai and Bobby IMO. People thought Masai would never trade OG – that OG is like a son to him, and now that has been proven wrong. Masai will make the trade once he gets the pieces he wants, and is okay with not making a trade if he does not. All this ‘whether Pascal will fit in or not’ is smokescreen – yes, Masai will keep Pascal and try to re-sign him if he does not get what he is asking for, but that is only AFTER teams fail to give Masai what he wants for Pascal.

Hopefully this is Woj carrying water for Masai to help them posture for a better trade return

I really hope Masai is not getting soft again because of 20 games. If pascal is playing well that is the perfect time to trade him and not wait until he’s in a drought again as a UFA

  8. Makes sense. What can a quick dynamic guard that can shoot, work the mid range and more importantly get to the rim, unlock for Siakam, Barnes and rest of the team for that matter.

All options should be on the table including keeping Siakam if they can show signs of getting this ship righted.

There hasn’t been this much Raptors publicity since 2019 I swear

The biggest signal we don’t extend Siakam is doing so puts us into the luxury tax, and I don’t think ownership does that. And that’s luxury tax *after* losing GTJ. IQ getting *paid* along with RJs money is more expensive than just OGs contract. (I like the trade don’t get me wrong).

If we can move off Chris or Jak we could technically get there but then we’re dumping contracts which comes with a price.

I think this trial run is more a tryout for the teams looking to acquire him – playing with two new young guys is a good indicator of how he’ll adapt to “your” news team.

I would be more than happy to extend Siakam, huge fan, but sadly I think his time here is done. I’d love to see him on a team competing for a ring if he has to go.

Extend Pascal. Trade Pascal now. I see both sides of the argument. Pascal is a fantastic basketball player and has performed very well this season despite all the rumors and scrutiny. But locking his salary up by extending him has risks.

How this team plays over the next few weeks will be fascinating to see.

For sure, you’ve got over a month until the trade deadline. It would be malpractice not to see what this new look team looks like before tinkering with it again.

I liked moving OG before Pascal. Eye test only, Pascal is currently doing more to affect outcomes.

Pascal is gonna be a great acquisition for any good team looking to contend

  15. There isn’t a chance in hell that Rogers Media and a bunch of investment execs are going to allow one of their assets to go into the red in the hopes they ‘win’. Even with the potential for playoff game revenue.

It sucks the team is owned like this, but it’s almost a guarantee they move Pascal before the tax bill kicks in. It’s the same reason they let Fred walk for nothing. They will not have the team be a tax team under any circumstances. We just have to hope that Masai can convince the ownership to allow him to replace Pascal, as I suspect they said no to any extra payroll hit from a Fred trade.

  16. I hate repeating myself. 29 yrs old is NOT THAT OLD. I think if he have that mentality he can still be in top form into his 35. When Barnes is ready next year this team is going to be dangerous if IQ and Barrett show up but that’s also up to Darko coaching. No point of getting back someone who might not turn out to be any good or won’t be ready(long wait) or wants to be here. The man wants to stay here. Foot the f##king bill and paid him. He deserves it. We can always trade him afterward.
