To be fair to Cam, pretty much the whole team played badly tonight. He definitely played the worst, however. 2 TRB and 1 STL is pathetic.

It’s really not that hard with Cam. He has the highest potential. He’s also terrible at anything, but scoring right now. He’s very raw and not going to be some “winning” player this year. That’s just reality.
Which was why not getting him development time after the KD and Kyrie trades last year was organizational malpractice. Trying to collect short term wins with veteran role players, over player development, was stupid the second Kd and Kyrie were gone. And it’s still stupid now.

Watching Cam when his shot isn’t falling is pure pain. He’s such a non-factor anywhere else on the floor. He constantly misses defensive assignments and the rest of the team need to scramble to fix it. He doesn’t box out and doesn’t close out shooters… It’s like playing 4v5, only it’s worse, because on offence he just keeps chucking, hoping one finally falls.
Don’t get me wrong, I love watching Cam be the mercurial scorer he can be. But my guy really needs to develop in other facets of the game for exactly the kind of days like this – when nothing is falling. Get to the rim and kick it out, or force the help to come and dish it to the open cutter. Don’t just look at the rim all the time, my man.
