Shams Charania, on his daily segment on Run It Back on FanDuel TV, said the following about the Oklahoma City Thunder.

League executives have not sensed urgency from the Oklahoma City Thunder to acquire star-level talent on the trade market. Many believe the Thunder are content focusing on the group of guys they currently have and don’t want to disrupt their depth and chemistry.

He mentioned that this team is not playoff tested and it’ll be hard for the front office to decide what to acquire to elevate the team until they find out what they lack in the playoffs.

The same thing anyone with a brain has been saying all season?

  2. Damn. It’s almost like that’s been the plan all along.

  3. meccamachine

Good. I think we have the core and it’s really all about optimising role players around the fringes now

Yeah the front office has been pretty clearly saying this even as far back as last season, don’t know why people thought some splashy trade was going to happen. Way better at this point (barring significant changes like injuries) to just truly figure out exactly what we have with the current group rather than making a quick trade to try to fix issues that may or may not even be a problem by the time playoffs come around

Yeah but I as a fan know what our team needs better than the people paid millions of dollars to run the team. That’s what this fails to mention.

Hell yeah. I want this core together at least until this season ends and then make a move to address weakness. Who knows maybe there will be no trade and okc wins the next 5 championships with this core.

We have to finish our breakfast first before we move onto dinner and dessert.

What I like to hear from this: other league execs are *assuming* the Thunder hits the playoffs.

They’re watching tape and figuring out how the hell they’ll *get past us*. We’re presumably a wildcard even to ourselves, and that makes us incredibly dangerous for other postseason contenders.

I think this is a really good point too

Weird. It’s almost like this is exactly what they spelled out in Presti’s press conference.

Can we just paste this on any post that’s “what do you guys think about trading for *insert player that wouldn’t fit*”

  12. A bigger trade would’ve required Giddey, and I think that’s rightfully out of the question now. I still think trading some end of bench guys like Mann, Poku, or Micic to upgrade our big depth is super likely though

  13. Not surprising at all. If you heard Gordon Hayward talk on Paul George’s podcast about the Boston team he was on with Kyrie after they had just got to the eastern conference final without them and had Rozier, Brown, Tatum, Morris and Horford and even though they were absolutely stacked with talent they had the issue of only one ball and everyone wanting a bigger role than what they had and I don’t think Presti wants to put this team in that position when the chemistry seems to be really on point at the moment.

With that said this is a tough January schedule with interesting games against: Heat, Magic, Lakers, Clippers, TWolves x2, Pelicans and Nuggets. Depending on how that stretch goes they might decide to add a bench piece at the deadline if they feel we are lacking something but I wouldn’t expect a starting lineup change to come, particularly because the only teams in the West we haven’t beaten so far this season are the Rockets, Pelicans and Kings which are teams I’d expect us to be able to get wins against in the coming games against them.

    Two things:

I hate how this sub is now scared to dream as everyone is leaning hard on the Presti quote from earlier this year. Almost makes me sad he even said it, as it puts a wet blanket on the transactional side of life.

Shai this entire season has almost made it a damn point to bring up HIS TEAM. HIS BROTHERS. HIS FRIENDS. We heard from Pat Bev how he feels about Chet, and we’ve heard from Jalen their relationship. Shai for the most part has been glowing towards **everyone** and I’d have to think hard towards someone he hasn’t put over.

When your MVP – 25 years old – is rallying the troops that damn hard and ensuring the world knows that he’s not doing this alone….I can easily see these young men rallying deep! I think it was the last night interview that he mentioned Jaylin. Jaylin barely was in the game yet got mentioned. You know damn well Jaylin feels appreciated.

I’m hyped about this team but I’m also implore people to feel safe to make those posts for Lauri or others. Have fun. WE’RE FANS!

Shams report always trustworthy. However, Presti is also a genius. If you ever make other team executives to feel the sense of urgency that you need to acquire a star or any trade, you lose your leverage. Smart way to not let other teams to read what’s on your mind

I was told on this sub that we would be trading 4 first-rounders and Dort for Tyler Herro

Are you telling me we AREN’T doing that???????

  17. Ya until they get fuckin bounced in the first round because none of them have any playoffs experience.
