Mike Conley spoke about lack of physicality in loss to Pelicans

Want give give those guys credit Zion’s a tough cover you know bi is a tough cover but a lot of it was our you know lack of attention to our our game plan I think we were trying to um send guys certain ways and uh we just didn’t

Accomplish it out there and and that’s on us that’s stuff that we can change um individually uh while we’re in the game like we don’t need coach or anybody to tell us we know what we’re supposed to do and we didn’t execute that game plan

And and um and they just you know drove the paint and put too much pressure on us and and control the game from there like this first time you guys have lost two in a row all year does this feel like kind of the first patch of

Adversity that you guys have hit this season and like how do you handle when you’re in a little bit of a funk like this oh yeah you know it it definitely is obviously we haven’t lost two in a row so I think that’s that’ll be the signal for your first little bit of

Adversity but um it’s you know such a long season you know we weren’t going to go and and keep winning seven eight games in a row and lose one seven eight games it just doesn’t happen that way um so we have to go with the EPs and flows

And right now we we just have to find our Edge again find our you know um our swag that we were playing with earlier especially defensively I think that’s the biggest thing for us is what’s gotten us here is is everybody doing their job defensively and um offense

Will come you know we we’ll make shots here and there we’ll do what we do but that end of the Court we have to we have to you know figure that out strange to say B didn’t go very much but did you like the way you guys played offensively

Tonight seemed like there was more ball movement yeah we had a much more conscious effort of moving it and we got a lot of guys good looks tonight you know we got a lot of corner threes uh a lot of opportunities at The Rim um mentally we just got to like focus

Better we got to finish things you know we can’t rely on refs making calls we got to finish our layups finish our you know mid-range stuff our open shots like um those are shots we got to have you know we can’t tap the ball and not get a

Loose ball 50-50 balls like that stuff is uh super important and you know especially you know you every team’s going to give you their best shot every night and and uh we’re going to need every little bit we can get Mike this was one of those nights where they hit a

Bunch of shots obviously I mean it knocked them down but did it also feel like the offense that they were running you guys were not able to Short Circuit in terms of like just kind of making things tougher on them it seems like they got to their spots that they wanted

To get to uh yeah I think that that you know like I said gave them credit they they came in with a you know great sets and great great game game plan but thought we could have been more phys physical physical on the ball I thought

We gave you know Zion too much space bi too much space sometimes to kind of Wiggle in there and get and do what they do and um and once again I said we just we just need to load up more we need to just just just execute our game plan at

A higher level and um and because we didn’t do it they were able to just freelance and do what they want to do comfortably and uh they’re a good team they’re a deep team they have a lot of talent and and when they get a good rhythm going they’re tough to beat do

You guys have had so much success this year do you think it’s getting to a point now now where guys teams come in and they say hey you guys are number one in the west so we’re bringing everything we’ve got against you guys yeah I think

You know that’s the natural you know way things work you know you hear about a team a lot you know we’ve got a lot of positive you know um press over the last month or so and um and teams are going to come in to give us you know their

Best shot they want to see what we’re made of they want to see who we are um and we can’t let all that positivity and all things that we’ve had to you know go our way the last couple months uh you know make us complacent um because what

We what got us here was was the fact that we weren’t seen as a number one team we’re a team that’s underd dog mentality go out there and you know fight every night and do what we do and um we just got to grab onto that and and uh and find that [Applause]

Again

  1. Zion just walked in and did a lay up! lol šŸ˜‚ He doesnā€™t shoot outside and Towns nor NAZ couldnā€™t guard him worth crap. šŸ’©
Or he passed it out for open 3ā€™s after team defense collapsed.
Edwards and Towns stop driving and whining. Itā€™s embarrassing. For you not us the fans. Winners donā€™t Whine. Their age is showing. Edwards would be cut in the NFL. He is Soft. šŸ˜‚ Take a hit and then go dunk on someone. SloMo put the goggles back on. FFS get some pride your supposed to be a wolf pack šŸŗ

Itā€™s not your fault Mike. Youā€™re playing well. These kids need to learn to body up and get aggressive. Stop clapping at refs and start get a few fouls and get dirty. Pussies donā€™t win Championships.

The lone wolf will die alone in winter but the pack will survive. Start being a pack.

  2. whoever says this was about lack of physicality just dont understand the game.. the Wolves lost not because of lack of physicality but the difference between both teams shot percentage..one team was just hot and the other was not. on some days its just like that so onto the next game.
