Hawks ↔️ Nets

I know y’all hate trade posts here but I’m just a hoop fan interested in how Hawks build around Trae moving forward. I see a lot of synergy between the Hawks and Nets.

Not sure if the pick compensation is enough but love the idea of a Trae-JJ-Claxton core with DFS as a veteran connective wing piece to replace Bey and/or pair with Deandre Hunter. Dinwiddie is expiring contract filler but could be an effective backup pg as a bridge while Bufkin develops.

I just don’t see what either team would gain from this in the long run, seems like a lateral move

dinwiddie a worse player on a worse contract, not a fan

  3. I don’t think this is the worst I’ve seen. You can let Dinwiddle go in the offseason or flip him for cheap to some contender. You’re left with plenty of Cap space to use in Free Agency.

I think Claxton is an upgrade over Clint, younger, fits our timeline better and still has some potential. I don’t think we would have to worry about OO becoming a starter as much with Claxton. He is more versatile on defense. Better when switched on the perimeter on guards and better on stretch bigs. He can fill CC’s role on offense.

Dorian Finney Smith would be a legit backup 3-D wing. I’ve seen many on here advocate for him.

The pick would likely be a late first rounder

nets not giving up claxton and a pick for murray and capela but i do like the idea of claxton being paired up with trae and jj

Honestly, at first I was laughing at this. But in the chance scenario that DJM actually wants out, we have to realize we’re not going to recuperate that much value, though we want to, of course. So if DJM is being shipped, and Patty is being underutilized, then misused when he *is* played, this may actually be better for us.

I like Capela, but he’s a league vet and is paid accordingly for what this sub largely considers to be “playing volleyball in the paint and being stagnant on offense”. Like him as a person, but Claxton does slightly better in being an offensive threat, and is younger/lengthier with a higher upside. And even if you are worried and want more of a “true center” we still retain Bruno.

Someone else mentioned freeing Spencer’s cap-space after the fact. And Dorian is self-explanatory. I only watch Net’s highlights so I don’t really know how this would help them, y’all fill me in. I’d probably consider this trade if proposed.

Maybe I’m just low on the season, or delirious because it’s late. Feel free to let me know if this is dumb. I’d take no offense.
