Has Goga been told not to shoot?

I know he has a low/slow release, but he can shoot when open – but with the Magic he never does. Has he been told not to shoot? It doesn’t make sense to me.

I know this is G league footage, but it does show him doing the things he is currently doing, plus shooting outside.

  1. I believe so yes, or its his choice not to shot for now.

I think he has not completely given up on that, but right now it’s important for him to establish his role, earn consistent minutes and increase confidence so it makes sense he sticks to what he does best.

  2. I’m not really sure, but I think they tried that in Indiana and it didn’t work out. I also think it would be important to let him take open 3. He did it at FIBA iirc, can’t remember how successful unfortunately.

Yes, that’s why he’s playing so well lol. Don’t knock what’s been working.

At the very least I would think they told him not to shoot 3s during important overtime minutes 😅

As much as i love goga he is offensively limited

  6. Good for him, unlike WCJ who heaves at the most inappropriate times, lol

Dude is a career 25% from 3. He should only be shooting put backs and dump offs at the hoop.

Goga does what Goga wants to do. Goga yields to nobody.

He was shooting last year when he first was picked up. He actually made a few 3’s early on. We are a much better team this year. No shots for Goga. He feeds on dunks and blocks anyway.

We don’t need another center that hucks 3’s. He had 7 OFRB.. that’s what we need.

  11. Except he’s not a good shooter. If he’s taking a three it’s a bad possession.
