He questioned whether or not the Knicks would actually go out and make a splash for someone like Donovan Mitchell or Dejounte Murray and followed it up by saying that a big move like that is unlikely. The more likely trade to occur would be for the Knicks to acquire a scoring guard to come off the bench to fill the hole left by Immanuel Quickley’s departure.

As much as I like McBride, this is the move. Come playoff time I can’t trust that he’ll be able to hold up in that intensity.
He’s looked good so far but a lot of his minutes have been against bad team 2nd stringers and mop up time
I think a solid backup center might be even more necessary. Can’t expect Hartenstein to play close to 40 minutes every night.
Sounds like Brogdon. Also makes the most sense financially, since it gives them a big contract to attempt to trade for a star in the offseason or next year.

Honestly I much prefer we go for a backup big. Deuce and Grimes are playing really well lately that I dont miss IQ as much as I thought I would have.
Would prefer a scoring big off the bench, if any are available. Don’t think Precious is the answer currently
The Dejounte thing made no sense on any level besides salary. They weren’t going to mess with the starting lineup after it finally clicked. Good stuff.

Honestly, either get a superstar or stay put. The brogdons of this league are not gonna magically make us contenders. What’s the purpose? I’d rather see Duece grow. Grimes and hart are already solid wings. If we get a big on the cheap without losing anyone worth anything, I’m for it. We don’t need more guard help. Brunson is a dog, he’ll play 40 mins come playoffs, same as Julius.

Like we knew we were going to at least target OG. We know who the targets will be this time around. Idk just feels like the FO is making thought out sensible moves
This is why I love this FO! This is the correct move as there aren’t any big names who move the needle anyway. We need to keep our assets for a superstar level player but for now we are a very good team and should just continue adding depth pieces. A veteran backup PG for the playoffs and a backup big to relieve iHart with some quality minutes.
If there’s one thing I’m sure about Leon Rose is nobody knows anything until he already made the move, so not really buying Shams here honestly.

They need insurance policies if Brunson or Hartenstein get hurt. None of our current backup options can fill those gaps left by Mitch being hurt and Quickly being gone.
If we could somehow keep Grimes while still adding Olynyk and Sexton to our bench it would complete this team for now

i think we have a solid guard core with JB, QG, divo, hart—and mcbride’s progress looks good
even with the addition of OG i feel like we could use a little more support in defending the 4/5. randle and zay are gonna need rest—we learned the hard way what leading the league in MPG can do to a playoff run.
if we could pick up a backup stretch 3 or even a vet 4/5 to play 12-15mpg i think that would be huge for the program.

I prefer the idea of putting together a package and getting tyus jones and gafford from the wizards to help the bench. That fills our needs for a backup pg and center
