[Sidery] The Pacers are “very, very determined” to not include Jarace Walker in any trade, per @wojespn. Indiana is very high on Walker’s long-term potential, as are other teams around the league. In a potential Pascal Siakam trade, Walker could be a key sticking point in negotiations.

Gotta imagine that they are high on Mathurin too then.

His biggest question mark on draft night was 3pt shooting, and he’s now shooting around 40% on a decent # of attempts.

In addition to showing some really high level passes every time he sees the floor, something he didn’t show much of in college.

I’m glad the Pacers want to keep him long term. He just seems perfect for what we need on both ends of the court. For a five out offense not only is 3pt shooting necessary but the ability to find the open man.

  3. If it’s a sticking point, then we just say no. Seems simple to me.

  4. IF we end up trading for Siakim you gotta hope we could go a long way with draft assets. If we keep most of these guys and add Siakim that’s a top 5 team in the east. Big if, though

We just need to wait till FA. If he really would re-sign here, then he would at least consider signing in the off-season. We aren’t going to get our cake and eat it too with this type of move – we either give up young players (not even counting draft picks), or we are patient. If they don’t want to give up Walker, and they better not want to give up Benny, I guess it’s possible we would consider including Nembhard. But does that get it done and is gambling on giving up Nembhard for a potential rental seem like a responsible move when we aren’t close to contending?

I’ve always been a fan of letting the team chemistry ride, and picking up another guy in FA.

Appears they think he’s a legit talent then.

Why even trade when he is a FA in the offseason? Just try to get him then lol.

He fucking better be a sticking point.

I do not see how adding Siakam makes this team a legit contender this year or next.

Most of the team lacks playoff experience, it’s a gamble if Siakam would re-sign, and we would have limited options to bolster the roster moving forward after the trade

Building a contender takes time, especially for a market like ours. Show me a player that was 25 or younger that was the best player of a championship team. Tyrese is 23.

    1) I don’t see any way Masai trades Siakam without getting Walker or Mathurin in return

    2) I don’t see any package we could take back from the Raps where either of those dudes would be sent over (they aren’t moving Barnes)

    3) I don’t see any way we do anything without major assurances that Siakam would re-sign with us

In short, call me Mr. Magoo because I don’t see any way this deal happens

Since he’s said ge won’t sign any extension for a team that trades for him most I’d be willing to spend on a flight risk is a second round. I wouldn’t even give them james johnson for him.

We think he’s very special, but we can’t play him.
